Tips/notes from a local: First off, welcome to our city. - parking - the much easier and cheaper solution is using one of the Park & Ride busses. They exist at every major road into Oxford. You pay to park and then take a bus in. Then you avoid getting stuck looking for parking and it's going to set you back less. Oxford city centre is not easy to navigate by car. - the Radcliffe camera can be accessed if you take the longer Bodleian Library tours (they get booked up months in advance and sometimes will not go through the radcliffe camera if students need priority, but usually it's ok, and the rest of the tour is still fascinating). All tours take you into some Harry Potter filming areas like the "infirmary" and the "library", although the real history is just as important to Oxford. - I also agree that going up St Mary's tower is the best view of Oxford. - Oxford is funded by the uni and tourists. So you are welcome here. Those who get annoyed forget we rely on everyone coming to our beautiful city. And respectful people have every right to be here :). - Oxford is very walkable (everywhere they've been to is within a tiny radius, except for the perch pub). - There are lots of great pubs in the city centre. A bit of a touristy one but for great reason is the Turf Tavern. It's very old and has an amazing history, and it is just quirky. Really low ceilings and wonkey exterior and hidden behind buildings and accessed through passing under the famous bridge of sighs (and another alleyway the other side). Anyway, I hope you enjoyed Oxford, and I hope others also come to enjoy it!

@DJarr216 right. Guess we learned something new, but we totally got ripped off by that rental company. Guy point on the super nice car salesman act and we fell for it. Made it sound like without the insurance we had to pay a 1000 or more deposit. Upgraded us to a more expensive car and made it sound like he was doing us a favor. Hard lessons learned on this trip, but never again will we go through them.
We booked through Discover Cars. the name of the rental company was U-Save but the documents all said Green Motion (guessing they are under the same umbrella). They'll let you think they are the friendliest people on the planet while up-selling you. 😅
Oxford really discourages driving into the centre of the city. There are Park & Ride locations around the periphery on the major routes in, and they are much cheaper.

As a local, if you were to go in summer the Turf Tavern is a great option for food and drinks especially when students around as its got a great atmosphere and is a really cool spot as its the only city walled pub garden in the city. Also, check out New College - its cloisters were used in Harry Potter and it's one of the most beautiful colleges imo. Love the content tho!
I read mathematics at Oxford. One of our lecture rooms was in the Ashmoleum, when the maths building was overbooked. What a trip.
