The Working Title movie was nominated for eight Academy Awards including Best Picture, winning three; and won three Golden Globe Awards including Best Picture. For his performance as Marius, Mr. Redmayne was nominated for an Evening Standard British Film Award and an MTV Movie Award.
    He has starred in several other films, including Simon Curtis’ My Week with Marilyn, starring as the “my” part of the story as Colin Clark opposite Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe; Tom Kalin’s Savage Grace, opposite Julianne Moore; Shekhar Kapur’s Elizabeth: The Golden Age, also for Working Title, opposite Cate Blanchett as Queen Elizabeth I; Gregory Read’s Like Minds, with Toni Collette and Tom Sturridge; Udayan Prasad’s The Yellow Handkerchief, opposite Kristen Stewart; Justin Chadwick’s TheOther Boleyn Girl; Stephen Poliakoff’s Glorious 39; Timothy Linh Bui’s Powder Blue; Christopher Smith’s Black Death; Derick Martini’s Hick; Robert De Niro’s The Good Shepherd, as the son of the characters portrayed by Matt Damon and Angelina Jolie; and Andy and Lana Wachowski’s upcoming sci-fi epic Jupiter Ascending.
    The London native has also attracted attention on stage. For his Broadway debut starring as Ken opposite Alfred Molina as painter Mark Rothko in John Logan’s Red, directed by Michael Grandage, he won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play; the production won six Tonys overall, including Best Play. Mr. Redmayne also received a Theatre World Award and a Drama Desk Award nomination; for the production’s previous staging in London, at the Donmar Warehouse, he won the Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actor.
    His other U.K. stage work includes starring as Shakespeare’s Richard II, again directed by Michael Grandage at the Donmar Warehouse; in Christopher Shinn’s Now or Later, at the Royal Court Theatre, directed by Dominic Cooke; and in Anthony Page’s Almeida Theatre staging of Edward Albee’s The Goat or Who is Sylvia? The latter production earned Mr. Redmayne the Critics’ Circle Theatre Award and the Evening Standard Award for Outstanding Newcomer.
    His notable television credits include starring in the BBC miniseries Birdsong, directed by Philip Martin; Tess of the D’Urbervilles, directed by David Blair; and The Pillars ofthe Earth, directed by Sergio Mimica-Gezzan. Watching this again because I met Eddie this past weekend at comic con for 'fantastic beasts'. What a lovely, LOVELY man. I'm disabled and really identified with 'the theory of everything' and not only did he agree to take a picture with me, he was patient with me as I emotionally explained how fantastic that film was because of my own disability and how incredible he was and how much I identified. True class and a gentlemen!

    Eddie is the perfect blend of good looks mixed with intelligence, humor, wit, and ACTUAL talent (someone who is completely dedicated at mastering his craft). I hate how the industry sometimes pick those who are good looking but can't act. Watching The Theory of Everything has set the bar so high for me. I can't wait to see more of Eddie's future projects...even a rom-com wouldn't hurt! Ready enjoyed nothing this interview and loved the moderator!

    This is one of the most enjoyable interviews I've ever seen...Eddie is really sweet, humble, shy and charming. He's very intelligent, talented and has accomplished so much. Yet, there's never a hint of arrogance or ego with him...only an open, genuine and down to earth quality.

    I like Eddie Redmayne. He is so genuine and puts his heart and soul into his charecters. That is rare these days. Not too many actors that can do that, their presence on screen makes you happy, and you just love their character their playing because it feels just like an extension of that person. Eddie is so talented, and rare. Most actors these days seem to be going through the motions and put no thought into their characters. Eddie just has this tranquility about him and presence about him. I hope he never losses it.

    I adore his humbleness and humility. Even now that he has become such an established name in the field, he still show extraordinary patience, sincerity and attentiveness in all the interviews/activities he participates in. The fact that he usually reply compliments by saying "you are very generous" gets me every time. The complete fuss-free attitude he has towards all his achievements and failures, efforts and hardships is just so admirable. Eddie Redmayne is such a precious gem in the entertainment business.

He was amazing in The Theory of Everything. I was so happy that he got the Oscar for that, he really deserved it.

    Eddie is an amazing, out going actor! He is very talented, and taking a challenge kind of guy with the movie The Theory Of Everything it's amazing how you can stay still for that long. Steven Hawking is a very smart and funny guy. That's what I've heard it would be an honor to meet them both!!!!!! I only get one millionth of what he is talking about. Like black holes and who or what created the Universe but I'm happy either way!!!!☺

    I am a huge fan of SAG Foundation and everything they do, specifically they're youtube channel. But I am wondering why, especially for the 2015 oscar season, they have only interviewed nominated male actors? Edward Norton, Eddie Redmayne, Michael Keaton, etc. Why is it so male dominated? I would love to hear from some of the amazing and talented female actresses as well.

    • @MichaelTreder
      @MichaelTreder 9 лет назад +5

      They did Julianne Moore and Aniston, right? And Arquette was included in the Boyhood chat, I think, but I totally agree.
      Rosamund Pike would have been an amazing chat for Gone Girl alone.

    Sad what bullying at private (public( is private in the UK )named as it's not a religious private school )schools produces ,Eddie's school Eton is one of the worst ,mine thankfully was a day school ,boarding schools are the worst,the influence of the puritan sect made people even more anxiety ridden.

  • @kathydent2116

    When he says 'I went to high school...' he means that he went to the poshest private school in Britain. It's not exactly a rags to riches story.
