The JR East Niigata branch operated a group special train "Natsukashi no Asahi(Nostalgic Joetsu Shinkansen Asahi train)" as part of the 40th anniversary project of the Joetsu Shinkansen opening.
Various explanations were given by employees during the in-car broadcast, and a DJ driver also appeared. During the construction of the Joetsu Shinkansen, there was an explanation about the Nakayama Tunnel (because of the Yagisawa layer), which was difficult to construct.
