Maybe I'm missing something because I don't understand the logic of celebrating JUNETEENTH and the FOURTH OF JULY too. Years ago, I saw the movie 1776, and haven't gone to a 4th of July cookout, celebration, or FAMILY REUNION since. I am so dedicated to where I hope black FOLK will some day be, I don't even watch 4th of July Fireworks.

June 19, 1865 is a recognition of freedom for enslaved persons. The Act passed in 2021 recognized this date nationally.

I think you should. Your presence and participation could help us. We need people who bring balance to the gatherings. Wisdom is always welcome to those who are seeking a deeper understanding of what they are doing and who they are celebrating.

The reason is that not all of our people were liberated. Texas was last.
@@deend7824African Americans had been emancipated but slaves in Texas had been kept from finding out.
It’s unfortunate that Hill cannot share his example of dedication, focus and hard work as an example of the opportunity available to all…in great part due to the events celebrated by Juneteenth.
Instead, Hill seems to manifest his guilt and self loathing by projecting and reinforcing the worst black stereotypes.
A well rehearsed minstrel show mimicking the style and cadence of ‘black preachers’ while butchering the Bible… Lamont laments the ‘killing of babies’, with no discussion of the disproportionate abortion rate in the black community…Hill’s racist comments juxtaposing light skinned black with the ‘real ancestors.’
