    Thanks for these videos, I have this game on a shelf but have not started to play it yet. Instead I’ve been watching these videos for now and getting a feel for the game rules and routines.

      You're welcome, thank you for watching. Oh you should break the plastic and get it over with. It's so easy to play and learn. Make sure to play the soundtrack of saving Private Ryan in the background! 😁

      This is a good game but my only complaint is that it (for me) feels VERY abstracted, moving that dice on the battlefield. I wonder what it would take for me to make it feel "less" abstracted..

    Thank you again for your clearly communicated plays!
    Remarkably that you got so far with the moderate luck here. My first 2 attempts on Gold Beach stalled on 2nd row with modest luck too (un-completed RWB attempts) and unclear focus (stars? items? courage?) = not enough soldiers.
    What you could have done differently: get a Point Man (2*) early (first 2 turns) for an extra turn at low casualties. Maybe also a Minesweeper (3*) and cross easily back and again (5-8-10-15 (award)-10 DEF on the right side). I also had used the Solo Lieutenant (4*) filled with 6 replacement dice... but last time that was a failure too - no guarantee they fit the needs.
    Beachmaster is great if possible, yes ! (But not practical on Omaha Beach, competes with the Hero needed for the effective middle of the map position)
    I also thought of getting a Wirecutter early to cross the sea-edge barrier and stay low 3 more turns, unfortunately that's a Special Item and not on the list of 4 for this scenario.

      Thank you! I like how you are calculating how to get the highest chance of victory! I usually try to do that to, before each session. But then something happens, like a high machine gun roll or something, and my plan goes out the window 😁

    At minute 6:45 you advance, take the casualties, but you go directly to the next turn and roll the dice. Shouldn’t you combat/phase 6 after advancing?

    Nice video again!
    Some errors (?):
    Captain can't reroll a locked die with the corporal at 29:15.
    And is lateral movement into the bunker realy "advance" for the beachmaster?

    • @WW2SolitaireBoardGameChannel
      @WW2SolitaireBoardGameChannel  5 лет назад +1

      Thank you for commenting! I appreciate the feedback very much. Ops, missed that about the corporal! Now I know. About bunker movement: as I understand it, moving in to a bunker is always an advance and costs courage. But I have seen on bbg forums that some people have asked the game creator to clearify the rules for this specific scenario.
      What is your strategy for this scenario?

      @@andrehenrich917 it's very hard! You have to be lucky with the machine gun rolls. If you get high number on all of those, you are doomed. Which flank do you advance in and which specialists do you go for?

    • @andrehenrich917
      @andrehenrich917 5 лет назад

      @@WW2SolitaireBoardGameChannel You need as much time as you can get in low sectors, I think.
      4 (veteran) --> 5 --> 4 --> 10 (sharpshooterX)--> 15 (only one round) --> 10 (beachmaster) --> right bunker...
      I think sectors > 10 are one round sectors, if possible.

    • @andrehenrich917

      4 more tries and I did it, yes!
      I choose the way above mentioned. I bought every item except the mine detector (because of my minesweeper).
      I had ~3 straights and used courage for awards too. Thanks to a item and 2 RWB I could advance threetimes for free.
      With 7 tools in one round I earned so many item points. Dead mans gift is also powerfull.
      In later rounds I just had to get soldiers, soldiers, soldiers.... and it works. 38 soldiers left after victory. Epic!
      There were only ~ 3 rounds without RWB or straight. The awards with adding results were very big. In one round a straight + RWB is really good.

    13:11 Machine Gun Fire roll is '5'. Why are there then 10 casualties? EDIT-Oh, is there a chart that coverts the die roll to number of casualties for MGF?..man war is hell

    For the reinforcement bonus my understanding is that you get the 4 additional soldiers that are designated to go to another unit. So the 4+4 plus the 3 on the dice give you 11. Or am I misinterpreting the rules?

    • @WW2SolitaireBoardGameChannel

    Hey man! Love the playthrough, and your playful comments about your counting and luck :). Quick question, why don't you spend 6 courage on an award early on? It might make some things easier when it's that hard!

    • @WW2SolitaireBoardGameChannel
      @WW2SolitaireBoardGameChannel  3 года назад +2

      Thank you! To be honest I think it's because I'm not very good at the game and I'm scared to be low on courage during the final push for the bunker 🙈

    You are playing this wrong. On 1st roll you can only lock 2 dice. Even if you get 5 double soldiers you can only lock 2 of them.
