It's an awesome setup. There will be a huge market for finer grit 1200, 2000. Make some with lapping films or just sell blank plates so people can DIY.

As a 71 year old I have been sharpening knives for many years and using many methods. I have to say that this is by a wide margin the very best sharpening method that I have tried. Thank you!

I'd say he's addressed every known issue from the original PA. That said, give this thing a little time in the wild & I'm sure people will find some new things that we haven't even thought of yet LOL. It's the nature of things.
I'll probably pick one of these up later this summer. There are a few knives I think I'd rather sharpen manually with this than on my Ken Onion. Thinking about that now...

@@WorkSharpOutdoor next feature you should add is a whetstone holder that clamps our own stones. We can get away with using water stones with this thing. It's not like it's going to rust.

Nailed it on the head with the improvements on the Pro. I'm sure there's one already in the works, but I would love to see a carrying case for this rather much like what became available later on for the first Precision Adjust. At this price point I would have liked to of seen it included with the Pro to begin with, but overall very happy with it.

We need a stone holder that accepts different types of stones and abrasives from all the quality stone makers. And would also be nice with a 1200-1500 diamond plate, if you got the capability to make higher grit diamond plates. If not, that's just why a stone holder is so important. Especially now that this is marketed and labeled as a Professional sharpener, and competes with other brands that do accept other stones/plates as well as their own.

    • @kevinwilliams0214
      @kevinwilliams0214 Год назад +2

The issue is there is already someone making these stone holders for the PA Pro. That’s why worksharp should have already had this made. You know from the last model this was going to be requested and made by someone.

@@WorkSharpOutdoor if you guys nail implementing a stone holder with the next model or simply an adapter for this one, I'll buy it immediately. I know stones are heavy relative to a small diamond plate so this holder will have to be heavy duty and cost more and it won't matter because I'll still throw my money at you.

I am fortunate enough to work at a place that recovered the sharper before release/launch. The pro has taken over as the sharpening system all employees use.
I can really find anything as of yet that I would change. I really like the forethought of additional accessories you may be able to add on
    Well done.

I purchased one of these recently and it works quite well. the only criticism I have is that the blade clamp is limited as far as how far a blade can go into it and how far it opens. this is only an issue with large thick knives. but I have quite a few of those.

I still have some understanding of the method for measuring angles on the other side of the straight edge (15-30 degrees). According to calculations, the angle to be sharpened will be α, and we have the formula sin α = the distance from the vertical axis to the blade edge.
If the widths of the blades are the same, then the angle measuring tool can be accurate. However, with a utility knife, the width of the blade differs from the blade used for cutting or peeling fruits. So how do people solve this problem?
To address this issue, people use specialized tools or techniques. One common approach is to use an adjustable angle guide or honing guide that allows for precise angle adjustments. These guides typically have a mechanism to hold the blade securely at the desired angle while sharpening.
Another method is to use sharpening jigs or fixtures specifically designed for different types of blades. These jigs hold the blade in a fixed position and ensure consistent sharpening angles.
Additionally, experienced users may develop their own techniques and methods based on their expertise. They might rely on visual cues, such as the alignment of the blade with certain reference points or using specialized honing stones with predefined angles.
In summary, the problem of different blade widths in various cutting tools is addressed by using adjustable angle guides, sharpening jigs, or personal techniques developed by experienced individuals. These approaches help maintain consistent and accurate sharpening angles regardless of the blade width.
