    I think something the GB eight do well is get loads of clearance with the blades off of the finish, then carrying their hands low on the way forward. When they get to the front, all they have to be is be squared and take the weight of their hands off of the handle and let the blade fall in = really nice catch. Thats my opinion anyways haha. Well rowed!! Yeah boys.

      i know youre focusing on shape but shape has never given speed, the speed in generated by the handle speed, the further off the water the more speed you lose, they accelerate with blade weight not the tap down

      ​@@fredbryce6185Shape does not directly give you speed. In the same way squaring a blade early does not directly give you speed. Its what the movement allows you to do. Having enough water clearance with the blade allows you to square early, which allows you to be more still and relaxed on the front, which allows you to drop the blade in quickly and loosely, which allows you to be more connected - which produces more speed.
