They separated about 18 months later after producing a few albums together. They were going in different directions and have done solo albums. He has gone on to major concerts and super stardom as Simon predicted. He really found himself as they progressed, and is now a sought after opera singer. He is incredible, and is a lovely person as well :)

They stayed together for a couple of years, made some CD'd and went on a tour of Europe as a duo. They then seperated and made careers as solo artists, very successful ones at that as there was a severe lack of duo music around. They are still close friends and support each other whenever they can. Two lovely people.

This is my very most favorite BGT moment ever! I was showing it to people years ago and watching them react to it........haha...now I'm watching people on RUclips. Unfortunately not too many have found it. I had the same thoughts you did. There are so many people in Charlotte's genre of music and while she's very good.....there's a lot of competition. Jonathan is flat out a world-class operatic tenor. Regardless, it's not likely he'd have been on that stage, at least that year, without Charlotte.

4:12 Yup!!! Haha had the same reaction as you the first time I watched this. This was literally the most insane surprise in the history of "(Insert country here)'s got Talent" Usually, when there is a singer that stands out on these shows, they are a really good modern version of a pop/country/rock/etc singer, but this was something else... This was the first time as far as I know that an actual fantastic modern opera singer was introduced via a talent show. I mean Jonathan isn't just good, he has one of the best opera style voices and ranges since Pavarotti and I really can't think of anyone off the top of my head who has a stronger opera voice. Sure he still needs some vocal training, but this is the most potential I have ever seen in a young singer.

In later BGT performances, Simon admitted that Jonathan was right to keep Charlotte with as she really stepped up! This is a bit of an "Ugly Ducking" story and I always love them. I think your reaction was spot-on! For me, the ultimate "Ugly Duckling" story, the story that got me into all this RUclips experiences is Susan Boyle's audition. If you have not seen it, it is totally thrilling! I will give the link in my next comment.

The BBC did a great documentary in which they followed these two on their European Tour, combining concerts and performances and a sort of grand tour holiday for the two of them. Even though it actual was their swan song as a duo, which at the time the TV company did not know. It was a delightful and so warm a documentary about two vulnerable but lovable people.

I love Jonathan Antoine. He's beyond awesome.
Very astute reaction from you. I totally agree.
It's amazing how the tables turned...after the song he was told to dump her. 😲
She gave up her musical theatre school year to do the competition and it's hurt her career in theatre. But they had a blast travelling (italy!) and learning. Opera greats took him under their wing and he has had expert training.
His time with the confidant, loved Charlotte helped him gain the confidence to eventually go solo. His voice is an international treasure and I want to see him go to the top. He's also got a sweet, down to earth personality and really enjoys the appreciation.
O sole mio was made for him, he also sings the song from the godfather.
    A dog won lol.

This is one of my all-time favorite auditions. They made it to the finals, but lost out to, of all things, a dancing dog act. Jonathan & Charlotte stayed together for a few years and released a couple successful albums together. People were saying that they were the next Bocelli/Brightman duo, but they split up after each received a separate recording contract. Here's another of their BGT performances where Charlotte really shines: ruclips.net/video/3eEc2WxCUcY/видео.html

I was about to interject just as you said maybe they need one of another. Yes he has the greater voice, and she without a doubt has a good voice, but would we ever of heard his if not for her? I don't need if you noticed or not Simon's comment as they were walking out, but he said "just when you thought thing couldn't get any worse." He of all people should know not to judge a book by it cover. Britain's Got Talent easily could has choose not to include, but I'm glad they didn't. He of all people should know better than to do they, but more importantly I seriously doubt that's the first time Jonathan has been judged without singing a note. Back to my point, for whatever its worth, I don't believe we ever hear Jonathan without Charlotte.

You’re right and Simon is right. No one said Charlotte was bad. Simon explicitly said she’s good… and she is. But she’s clearly the lesser, so, yeah, she could hold him back. But as you also correctly point out, they’re young… she can develop her talent. Really, her pitch is fine. She merry needs to strengthen her voice. That’s her biggest problem. She’s overwhelmed by Jonathan’s power. Sometimes Simon is a true a**hole. Even in this video. Listen to him when he tells them “good luck”. It’s such a rude, dismissive tone, and everyone knows what he’s thinking… same thing he thought with Susan Boyle… “this dump truck of a human being is going to be a disaster”. How many times do we need to see that someone’s outward appearance doesn’t dictate. In fact, those snide comments and nasty looks, let’s be honest, we all know it but no one wants to say it, were 100% directed at Jonathan. Charlotte wasn’t the source of the derision, it was Jonathan. And then, in the end, it was Charlotte being told she’d hold Jonathan back. That’s how stupid these preconceived notions are. What? The fat kid can’t sing? Did someone inform Luciano Pavarotti of this fact? It’s just silly. I’m not gonna hate too hard. We all judge sometimes. For example, given the history of scat, I was shocked to learn that John Scatman was a 53 year old white dude when he became famous (react to that if you haven’t already!). We all do it. It’s human nature. That doesn’t make it right. Everyone prejudged Jonathan and he ended up being the superstar of this duo. And, coming back to your point, no, Simon did nothing wrong in saying that Charlotte may hold him back. For one, he did say Charlotte was good. Second, he still gave the PAIR a yes. And third, he’s just right… she IS good… if I was a judge, I would’ve given her a yes as a soloist on this first round… she’s good enough to move on… she’s good… but would she win?… No… Jonathan could. You’ve gotta be pretty excellent even to just move on from the first round (remember, they already did the audition round off-stage), and I *think* Charlotte would get through on her own. So, NO ONE is saying Charlotte stinks. No one! Not even Simon. This is NOT a criticism of her. It’s a compliment to HIM. He’s SO good that even lovely, talented Charlotte could be a drag on him. This isn’t anywhere near as controversial as people want to make it seem (like you mentioned the pitchforks, lol). No one said a bad word about Charlotte. Simon specifically said she was good. The whole issue is merely how awesome Jonathan is. There’s nothing bad here. Every comment was positive. Simon’s were actually positive - he said she was good… they were merely tinged with a negative shading. Moreover, those comments were, just flatly, accurate. Jonathan is the better of the two. That’s usually the case in any duo. I bet everyone familiar with their works has an opinion on whether Simon or Garfunkel was better (I have a STRONG opinion on that… I’ll let it slide for now… this comment is already too long). Point is, there’s nothing wrong with the honest observation that Jonathan is better. That doesn’t turn Charlotte into som wretched shrew who can’t carry a tune. No, she’s quite good. She has a lovely voice. There’s absolutely no shame in her friend being even better. So, this should NOT be so controversial (as it seems to be). No one is ripping Charlotte. They’re complimenting Jonathan. AND, it’s an accurate observation.

Probably not the best song for Charlotte and she may have been a touch lazy but look at her singing this song only months later. The best female singing I've ever heard. By the way, in their next two appearances on the show, she was fantastic on both.

Hate to admit it but I agree with Simon. She's got an ok voice, but Johnathan is out of this world.

You are the only one who like me agrees with Simon on this one every gets too into their story and it's very sweet but when someone wins they have to have real talent and he in this old clip is incredibly more talented than her she'd require far more coaching which I don't even think they do on this particular show from what I understand they parted ways and he has been fairly successful
