I miss the waves from NZ I used to live in northland and we have the 2 coasts east and west 45 minutes apart onshore on one offshore on the other :)
So when one spot has bad winds you could just drive to the other side of the island?
@@Wow-ih9kd Yeo, I live on a peninsula in nz and we can drive 30 mins might be crosshore at one break pumping offshore at another
Yeah I live down in Dunedin and we have something like a 270 deg swell window, so there is always some sort of pumping surf here. Wind can be bad in one place and you drive like 20 minutes and the wind is perfect.

Beautifully shot and edited. One thing I used to love about Andrew foresters old NZ coastal disturbance movies was the inclusion of a lot of novelty waves, gets you thirsty to explore. Though for consistency I can see why it’s mostly Taranaki and west coast.

@@yomamarager2179 there's sharks for sure but you don't really see them. I've been surfing in New Zealand for about 7 years and not really had any shark encounters bit heard stories. Its definitely cold here but you get used to it (sort of) and I never really thought about it being dark when you wipe out but that's sort of true but it let's you relax while getting thrashed hahaha
@@yomamarager2179 the shark thing isnt true, it being pitch black idk man, i surf around taranaki and ive never had any issues with it being pitch black? Unless your talking about it being at night but then thats just kinda dumb.
