You can do all the lunges and squats in the world but they are not really hitting those weak hamstrings. I had an L4/L5 discectomy-laminectomy this past march.
I just told my personal Trainer friend that I’m ready to get back to working out but to be honest, I’m really nervous.
She’s really great about listening to me when I say I can’t do something but it’s still nerve wracking. I think only someone who’s been through pain and surgery can really understand how cautious you try to be to protect yourself. While surgery was the absolute best thing I did…I really don’t want to end up on the operating table again😆

Totally get where you’re coming from. It’s important that you don’t just jump right in and work with someone who has been where you are and can help navigate the waters. You can always work towards getting back to training with your friend. If you’re looking for help you can email me at fitness4backpain@gmail.com

This is lumbar spine GOLD! I am suffering from chronic lumbar spine pain and looking at fusion from L2 all the way down with too many conditions to list here justifying getting the fusion. I am super scared. I’m also hypermobile and while it may look like I don’t need this kind of surgery because of my hypermobility, this very condition encourages spinal disk slippage. My L4 is extruding forward towards the front of my body and below, L5 and S1 are practically fused naturally. I have a high threshold for pain but now my window of being able to walk normally ( I get drop foot depending on which side is worse and can’t feel my right hamstring down to the back of my knee) is about 2 hours max and then it’s ice and heat time.
I have been searching for a channel like yours that shows the best way to achieve strength safely again while in pain. I have not been able to work with my personal trainer in a long time and one of the last workout sessions she showed me a safe way to do Romanian deadlifts just like you do here - right down to pulling up with your hamstrings and contracting the glutes. Intense focus on just doing it correctly is a game changer. Your channel gives me hope 🙏 thank you!

No way man. No more deadlifts. 2 times herniated discs. Both times with deadlifts. Second time my physio was standing next to me and saying “perfect form”.
O should have never done any deadlifts in my life. Literally ruined my physical health.
Now I come here looking for another hamstring ex., and you go “do deadlifts”. No thanks. Bye…

    • @Fitness4BackPain

Deadlifts didn’t cause you to herniated a disc. Doing more than your disc was able to do at the time is what did it.
You could have herniated your disc sneezing and you would blame the sneeze. It’s not your fault you have just been told the wrong stuff.
