Right?! That's gonna be one HELL of an episode if all three are together...though, that said, they probably should each be their own. That said, he should probably divert from the official order by moving the last 4 tracks forward a bit (Heaven-Sent Abomination, Treasures Within The Abomination, and Interstellar Stomper before Pest of the Cosmos, and Toxic Wisdom before Murderswarm), since those 4 tracks were added later and out of order of the game's actual progression.

I love how blood coagulant just seems to have that sound of flowing blood. Especially that one section that's basically just noise. It's like a mix of horror and panic that fits perfectly. DM Dokuro is REALLY, REALLY good when it comes to making soundtracks fit the situation they're meant for
The song Blood Coagulant is the theme of the Perforators, which is basically a floating tumor that hemorrhages worms throughout the fight. The Perforators are the culmination of the Crimson biome, which is the result of the remains of dead gods influencing the surrounding environment. This leads to the creation of either the Corruption or the Crimson (whichever generates in your world). The Crimson itself is the “gore” of a god, a single collosalo mass of flesh that acts as a sort of tumor on the world, slowly devouring and spiting back out the creatures of the world as twisted versions of their original body. The Perforators themselves aren’t really super special, just a collection of a certain type of creature the Crimson makes, the worms. The song Filthy Mind is the theme of the Hive Mind boss, this boss is, well a Hive Mind, for the Corruption (the Crimsons counterpart). And is the grey matter or magic or malice or whatever you really want it to be, of a dead god. The Corruption is your stereotypical “EAT EVERYTHING” kind of thing that you see in a lot of different fantasy (the Tyranids, the Aliens from Alien, the Zurg, etc.). And the Hive Mind is what would usually be the Queen (similar to the Floods grave mind). Return to Slime is the theme of the Slime God. The Slime God used to be a “paragon of balance” but after it absorbed the muck and grime of the Crimson and Corruption it became a vile monster (if you didn’t consider it one before), and then goes on to run away from the player, becoming the “Queen Slime” boss. But that’s for another day.

18:21 yeah... about that, the songs are from the point of view of the boss instead of the player, so raising an army full of slimes to defeat the common enemy... thats somehow accurate. Well done.
When you come to the songs "servants of the Scourge" "Scourge of the universe" and "universal collapse", you should try to find the nonstop mix, it has some parts of the songs that are not in the singular versions, and it gives you a better perspective of what the story is trying to tell. Edit; I forgot to say that the mentioned songs are one of the last songs of the OST, so it Might take a while.
I love seeing Calamity music reactions! I hope you're using the youtube playlist for the ordering instead of the spotify one - it's important to hear the biome music before their respective boss (instead of having them all near the end for some reason, which Spotify has). There are a few boss tracks in the wrong spot with the YT playlist as well: "Heaven's hell sent gift" is replaced by "Heaven Sent Abomination" and "treasures within the abomination", "Cosmic disgust" is replaced with "Interstellar stomper." "Toxic Wisdom" should be right after "Feral Amalgamation." And PLEASE listen to Devourer of Gods (Nonstop Mix) instead of the playlist ones - it is an actual symphony and needs its own whole video
Fun mention: _Blood Coagulant_ and _The Filthy Mind_ could be seen as sister tracks. Both occur at the same step in progression with similarly themed bosses, though you'll typically only hear/fight one or the other on a given playthrough. Which one is typically randomly decided upon world generation, but if you prefer one or the other you can also make that choice in world settings beforehand. _Return to Slime_ plays for the last Calamity boss fought in the first arc of the game, putting it just before an important turning point.
@masdrionalt Well I was only saying it could maybe be seen that way given their relation, but you have a better point with all three being guest tracks featuring Sixteeninmono that's an even cooler bit. Edit: I realize I misread and you weren't actually disagreeing with me like I thought initially but still, yes good point thank you.
The porpuse of video game music is to give you the live feeling of the situation you are in and I think this artist did a great job doing that great analysis as always my favorite part in every video is the small violin cover keep it up (you could be a teacher you are very fun to watch)

Return to Slime is actually the first deity you fight canonically in the story of Calamity and it has that feeling of intensity because of that daunting title of "God" that the Slime God has
I love that you love the Calamity ost, it has some of my all-time favourites! Blood Coagulant is actually one of my favourite soundtracks from Calamity, there's probably an actual musical term for this but I like it cause it has a lot of "oomph" (that's what I always call it lol), bascially it never gets boring and all of the song is enjoyable and packed with energy Another example is Jess' theme from Advance Wars: Dual Strike, it has more oomph than her original theme from Advance Wars 2 and way more oomph from the Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp theme, which is noticably lacking in oomph, it isn't fun to listen to A lot of the Calamity songs are packed with oomph imo, which is why they are so good, even the 10 minute long ones are so well done in that department, I would never get bored of them
I wanna say that word you're looking for is that it is very 'punchy'. You get this with the chugg and djent sections of each song with the synth melody. Overall, everything is heavily distorted and the Gain is def turned up to max
DM Dokuro has a supernatural ability to make 14 minute long songs that never get even the slightest bit boring. The only issue I have is that headbanging all the way through the Devourer of God's theme nonstop mix gives me a headache...
Return to Slime has got to be one of my favorite tracks in the OST, like idk what that sound is at 15:21 but it just hits *different* Definitely a top tier and underrated track imo
Likely just a edited synth, probably not the same synth as the theramin on melody not long after. The way it's edited is kinda like the break beats in breakcore. But yeah, that sounds goes hard.
If he thinks that return to slime is a good mashup of modern styles and old operas he’s gonna love the 13 minute, 4 part symphony that is stained brutal calamity. I’m here for this all the way
Wow, I never realised that the lead synth in Return to Slime sounds like a soprano singer - that's a great catch! Also, in case you didn't notice, the section that you improvised over in Return to Slime references both Blood Coagulant and The Filthy Mind, both in instrumentation and in melody - ties the three together very well!
While you are doing these songs in playlist order, I would highly recommend that when you get to the songs 'Servants of the Scourge', 'Scourge of the Universe', and 'Universal Collapse' you either listen to them all in one video or, preferably, listen to 'Devourer of Gods (Nonstop Mix). You will not be disappointed.
I love the intelligent commentary on the pieces. For the next set of songs, you'll want to listen to A Step Below Hell before Left Alone as they go together musically and themeatically. You'll also want to listen to Wasteland before Outcast of the Sulphurous Seas for the same reason.
15:42 I believe it's a theremin, they're super cool, I also love that really quick harp-like sound (I think, might be wrong) right before it. That song really does make it feel like you're fighting an actual God.
I always love watching people react to Calamity music, I feel like it is very under appreciated. The Calamity Mod will always have a special place in my heart. Btw you are very entertaining to watch and your knowledge of music blows my mind! Btw I love your hair, I started growing mine out for a couple years now and I really like having long hair.
For some reason, Perforators Theme (Blood Coagulant) is my favorites Modded Terraria Bosses Theme It give a chills... Fighting a broccoli shaped monster with worm in one of the Evil Biome that's literally infected with body part of unknown giant creatures. I will play this mod someday Also how you play and made sound with the violins is very good! I will waiting for you to hear Roar Of The Jungle Dragon, Universal Collapse and Stained, Brutal Calamity
the calamity songs honestly feel more like dialogue to me, like the bosses are speaking to you, the player, and are communicating to you while trying to beat you for disrupting the balanced order of the world (or in some cases like the Aquatic Scourge or Jungle Dragon Yharon, defending themselves against you) in the case of Blood Coagulant, it comes across like a festering, puss filled creature intimidating you into submission. Whilst something like Guardian of the Former Seas, comes more across like a wild animal just casually hunting for what it thinks will be it's next meal, only then realizing the food is fighting back, and slowly winning.
I can't wait until you get to my favorite ones which are so much later in the order. The bee, the burning rock, the portal worm, the dragon, and finally the witch who has caused me nothing but strife
The guy nailed the "march of death" bit of Return to Slime. Also, it doesn't make sense, but it actually goes really well with Halloween stuff, particularly Scream Fortress.
The return to slime violin was fire! It also seems that you are doing 3 songs at a time. Good luck for the next 3 (or 4)- Antarctic reinforcements, outcast of the sulphurus seas (my fav) and left alone (also maybe do "a step below hell"). Very epic.
My first time playing Calamity was recently, ive just never touched it before. When i first came across The Perforators I was hooked. I knew i had to beat that boss no matter my gear because i had done so well first time. I eventually did and got gear far better than i had any right having. Both the music and the fight had me sold on the mod.
Please do more calamity ost! Your reactions are absolutely on point! The next somgs you should listen to are "antarctic reinforcement" "wasteland" and "outcast of the sulphurous seas"
Return to Slime quickly became one of my favourite tracks across the entire Calamity OST, its gritty and alien-sounding melody fits for the final boss of either pre-hardmode corruption, and the bouncy rhythm of the song fits the slime characteristc from Terraria how they always hop towards you slowly
you're gonna absolutely love supreme calamitas theme also ive expected you to ge flabergasted at slime god since ive seen many reacions to that song especially and everyone gets falbergasted at that one song cause nobody expects that
as a fan of prog rock and sixteeninmono it is super neat to hear his contributions to this amazing soundtrack that I was not previously aware of, thank for informing not just me but your audience as well!
Yeah back here again marvelling at your talent and once again my fave soundtrack in recent memory. Dokuro..... I truly hope wherever he takes his talent he is treated better.
I love how good you indentify yourself with the music of calamity by playing to the music. Maybe (but this is only optional) you could ask the calamity producers if you could help with one of the themes, if they decide to make a new boss or remake a theme
calamity music is probably my favorite soundtrack that exists. i especially like blood coagulant and the filthy mind, it tickles my prog metal brain in just the right way
i really hope you get all the way through to the final three boss themes bc they are all remarkable. devourer of god's theme along with servants of the sourge's theme (servants is like the precursor/buildup to the devourer's full theme) are such stellar pieces and they have so many beautiful movements and melodies filled within it. highly recommend listening to the devourer of gods (nonstop mix) since it's what dokuro would've mixed them as had he not separated them on the full album. the buildup to universal collapse is otherworldly, its my favourite boss music on the entire ost.
Listen to all the song in order is a very good idea I'd say, firstly because listening to this ost is as much of a journey as playing it. A better reason though is that a few later tracks actually feature motifs from earlier songs and it can be a real treat to find them.
I like how in blood coulagant, you can hear, its not a being of mind, its instinct, all it knows is kill, tear, consume, spread. In the hive mind, you can hear chaos still but its organized, a greater mind at control of the chaos of the corruption, but the chaos refuses to ever truly leave, instinct remaining to influence it evermore.
Raw, Unfiltered Calamity, Roar of the Jungle Dragon, and the entire series of Devourer of Gods pieces are some of my personal favorites from Calamity and I think you should listen to them
Blood coagulant is probably my personal favorite of the whole soundtrack but it truly is my second favorite ost of anything behind undertale its just so good all the way through

You should listen to “Wasteland” or the Sulphurous seas theme! It’s one of my favorites and is really soothing. Great video as always!
love this series!!! big fan of your analysis/appreciation, and this is by far one of my favorite soundtracks, so im looking forward to more!!
Next video after this reactions: "Hello and welcome to my Terraria calamity letsplay!"
Nah.
The return to slime violin was fire! It also seems that you are doing 3 songs at a time. Good luck for the next 3 (or 4)- Antarctic reinforcements, outcast of the sulphurus seas (my fav) and left alone (also maybe do "a step below hell"). Very epic.
I am so glad the community banded together, I've always been so interested in watching music producers listen to my favorite games.
I never noticed the themes that were eluded in this track come blasting in Yharon's theme
Such an awesome soundtrack! I'll be here for the next episode of Calamity.
you're gonna absolutely love supreme calamitas theme also ive expected you to ge flabergasted at slime god since ive seen many reacions to that song especially and everyone gets falbergasted at that one song cause nobody expects that
as a fan of prog rock and sixteeninmono it is super neat to hear his contributions to this amazing soundtrack that I was not previously aware of, thank for informing not just me but your audience as well!
to have your soundtracks being called masterpieces by a professional music producer has to be one of the biggest feats a video game mod can achieve.
can you believe that dm dokuro is self taught? man's a LEGEND!!!
Yeah back here again marvelling at your talent and once again my fave soundtrack in recent memory. Dokuro..... I truly hope wherever he takes his talent he is treated better.
I love how good you indentify yourself with the music of calamity by playing to the music.
Maybe (but this is only optional) you could ask the calamity producers if you could help with one of the themes, if they decide to make a new boss or remake a theme
i played calamity and didnt had much chance to sit down and listen to the boss music, since they are kicking my ass
"You gotta play the game to appreciate the music more!"
Plays the game: *Loud gameplay noises that drown out the entire music*
@@LionmightOfficialMan I hate it when that happens, usually I turn down the gameplay volume and turn up the music so I can jam out to it
I cannot wait for scourge of the sulphurous seas, genuinely one of my favourite pieces from any game because of the pure ENERGY
I love how in later tracks the more powerful the for the more bells get added into the track
calamity music is probably my favorite soundtrack that exists. i especially like blood coagulant and the filthy mind, it tickles my prog metal brain in just the right way
The Filthy Mind is giving me some Dream Theater vibes.
That's our boy Dokuro for ya! (with a bit of help from SixteenInMono)
i really hope you get all the way through to the final three boss themes bc they are all remarkable. devourer of god's theme along with servants of the sourge's theme (servants is like the precursor/buildup to the devourer's full theme) are such stellar pieces and they have so many beautiful movements and melodies filled within it. highly recommend listening to the devourer of gods (nonstop mix) since it's what dokuro would've mixed them as had he not separated them on the full album. the buildup to universal collapse is otherworldly, its my favourite boss music on the entire ost.
The Filthy Mind feels like a love letter to Dream Theatre and Im so here for it
It's nice to see someone who genuinely just enjoys music. Great content, great personality and great music, man!
Dont forget “playing with firepower”!
Also, fun fact
By removing one of the major instruments in return to slime, it turns into a theme of raw terror
I recognised “The Filthy Mind” as 5/…8? I think? Because of Ultrakill’s Flesh Prison theme; “Chaos.”
That Return to Slime cover was awesome! Can’t wait for you to check out hardmode!
that red violin is metal as fuck dude
Return to slime sets a perfect atmosphere. I remember fighting the slime god for the first time and the music made it 10 times more intense.
Raw, Unfiltered Calamity, Roar of the Jungle Dragon, and the entire series of Devourer of Gods pieces are some of my personal favorites from Calamity and I think you should listen to them
You should read the RUclips description for these, they contain a "story" or just a description of the song!
Nah. I prefer diving completely into the unknown.
Watching you is like showing a musically savvy friend good video game music
very fitting that you put these 3 in one video!
WE NEED MORE. WE NEED TO FINISH THE SOUNTRACK
Been waiting for part 2 babyyy, lets go!
I love his violin during filthy mind, one of the best songs in calamity
Blood coagulant is probably my personal favorite of the whole soundtrack but it truly is my second favorite ost of anything behind undertale its just so good all the way through
*reaper glove intensifies…..* 0:27
Oh boy! 10 kills and still insatiated?
in the couagulant song the guitarr doing badum! badum badum! basically the sound of a beating heart... very appropiate
Am I the only one who thinks that in return to slime, the slimes are shouting ‘WAFFLE’ in time to the music?
I would absolutely love to hear a full violin lead on the Blood Coagulant and Return to Slime!
HOLY COW THE ARPEGGIO ACCOMPANIMENT FOR RETURN TO SLIME WAS GODLY
The calamity mod have a lot of master piece music
