It's one of Jack's own songs. He's incredible with the acoustic guitar, hence why I can't wait until their new album, 'Flaws'. The artist/album for this song would be called 'Jaaack'. For those who don't know: the song, it's named after his (ex?)girlfriend... Odd name, I know - '"Dorcas" - but that's her name... Jack (and the whole of BBC) went to my school and I know most of them personally, that's how I know :-) BBC are my idols; Jack Steadman being a personal hero of mine :-)
@EgoSumJessica Yes, as far as I can tell it's also standard tuning. It is indeed tuned sharp, do you have perfect pitch as well? I am of those weird people who thinks every key signature or tuning has a personality or emotion it is good at expressing and often, tuning something a bit sharp can make it sound more nostalgic (try i!). What I want to know is if it's two guitars or one?
Its funny how you had so much to say about me saying one derogatory thing about that one person but when they do it to me consistently, your dead silent... ig its completely ok and justified for them to do it but not me? Hypocrisy and Ignorance at it's finest...... maybe someday you'll see how your warped sense of social justice costed you more than it protected you. I loved you..... and what you did to me hurt so much. That's why im still here..... like a fool....
You know what? I just don't care anymore. You made your choice. Idgaf anymore. I hope you listen to what everyone else is saying and just stay away this time. ✌️
I had been trying to learn this for a while, and then I saw that jack has said that the tuning was DADGAD which put a damper on my progress. Haha. I am working on it and I will tab it on ultimate guitar, unless someone else already has a tab...
@littlejack2233 Just had another listen, i reckon most of it could potentially be played on one guitar if you could get the tremolo going so you could play the lower notes with thumb, then slide around a bit... but then you get to about 3:18 and it definitely sounds like two guitars.. guess we'll never know! I don't have perfect pitch but I can usually hear the key a song is in. I never thought of it like that, Bon Iver plays a lot of his guitar stuff a bit sharp, hmm i'll listen out...
Is this set for the Acoustic album? It's lovely, really stunning music. Really looking forward to seeing a (slightly) different side to Bombay Bicycle Club; I think it's very warming to see such a talented band making such diverse music... From "Cancel of Me" and "What If" right through to "Dorcus".
@Metronomyesha yeah thats what i was just thinking, it resembles the exact same strumming pattern to the introduction to my god; still amazing song though!
@spinnact Just messing around with this as I write, pretty sure its standard tuning, but from listening to the bass notes and the open b string i think just the guitar is tuned a wee bit sharp? either that or mines a bit flat but yeah pretty sure its standard tuning
First chord is an E then on the third threat use the A string and the B string then go down to a C chord on the third threat, thats all i know so far but its the same strumming technique of my god hope this helps i'm not good at explaining... x
isnt it just jack steadman on his own? oh well, i hope it goes on theyre acoustic one. AND theyre amazing live! seen them twice and Jizzed In my pants every minute of it.

That's my mother's name. Nothing weird about it at all. It's just a good old historical name.
This is literally the 'My God" Riff!
I thought that upon first listen!
I don't think these guys will ever be knocked of my favourites list
When i listen to this, i feel that i'm flying over the stars. And it's perfectly calm but elational at the same time. simple mastery.
can't stop replaying this..i find it incredibly beautiful...
This shows how the power of the guitar is immense.
This is so beautiful. I'm a really big fan and finding bombay bicycle club's old stuff is so great x
brilliant songwriting and guitar playing, allround musicianship
first picture reminds me of the amazing train journeys in India.. miss India so much... music's so serene...
This is a common technique in classical guitar, found in many classic pieces. Also one of leonard cohen's staples, e.g. Avalanche.
beautiful,
i had that general feeling of warmth and content by the end of it
Bloody hell, this is absolutely gorgeous.
LOL!
I saw them at NME in Birmingham, was my 5th Time i've seen them. They just seem so up for it everytime.
Incredibly beautiful.

✌️
i like the fast fingerpicking in this... kind of like 'my god'. i'm still not able to do it as fast as jack. mind you, he is a guitar wizard.
i hope they play this live in atlanta!
@Metronomyesha Yes they're using the same kind of strumming pattern from the start but in different keys. Perhaps they sampled this for 'My God'?
ahhh its the B side to rinse me down! this song needed more attention!

Please, do! I've been aching since ever for that tab!
Please do a tab
Daniel McBride Had to play this twice it's so great, tab it and you'll be a hero! although I doubt I'll ever crack it.
I made a tab, it's currently undergoing approval on Ultimate Guitar. Hope this helps!
yeahh i was excited when i read somewhere that you were in india.. then i was bummed that you weren't performing.. you should've come to delhi.. :(
As far as I'm concerned, this song will be played on my wedding day. :)
Did you get married?

Love this, and not only for the obvious reason.
Anyways this song is beautiful. Solidified jack steadman as one of my favorite musicians

i want to know how to play this
BIG JACK
sware this is pratically My God, but darker and instrumental and somewhat more beautiful?
some poor soul missed the like button
@WhiteSleevedStu My God ^.^
isnt it just jack steadman on his own? oh well, i hope it goes on theyre acoustic one. AND theyre amazing live! seen them twice and Jizzed In my pants every minute of it.
He named this after his girlfriend at the time and the cover of Flaws is a painting of her done by Ed. So cute :')
And now they have kids ❤
this sounds familiar *cough cough* second album *cough cough* track 9
A little intense on the b and e string at times, but very beautiful still :)
Astarigast I enjoy that about this song
@oneangrydwarf87 haha old gower :P
