It's a long story... let's see... Suzuka and Otake is 2 founder of Mt Suzuka. One day, Suzuka received a dream about her adopted father in Underworld river and she decided to go to there, leaving Otake to manage the mountain. It's supposed to be just 3 days, but Orochi tricks her and make her trapped in the Underworld for 3000 years. Already take care of his biggest obstacle, Orochi slowly corrosive Mt Suzuka, manipulate Uminari to urge Otakemaru to attack Heian and lead to the death of Otake. Suzuka finally escape, but it's too late...
And that's why I said "If" since Suzuka Gozen is connected to the mountain. Orochi never could corrosive Mt.Suzuka if Suzuka presented.
