- This video is for those of you who may be considering a vinyl wrap for your snowmobile but are unsure if you would be able to do the installation yourself or not. With a little patience and a comfortable place to work, @arcticfxgraphics puts out an amazing product with easy to follow instructions that is easy to work with.
Having worked with automotive vinyl in the past, I figured I would attempt to install a vinyl wrap on my 2013 800 Polaris RMK. Arctic FX includes a very detailed set of instructions. I also purchased the installation kit that included a cleaner, adhesive remover and preparation spray plus the squeegees to assist in the installation process.
I am an individual that prefers to install what I can on my personal toys so I can have full knowledge of how components not only install, but also how they function and hold up. I'm a firm believer that the more you install yourself, the better you know your equipment. Out on the trail, that can make all the difference in the world on whether you can help yourself in those moments of mechanical failure.
I really like how the kit was clearly identified as to which sections were to be installed where. There is a fair amount of pieces required for the kit so being able to clearly identify where each piece went was crucial to the installation.
As shown early on, I took a small piece of scrap and tested how well it laid down. I did this to get a feel for how workable and how forgiving the product was. I was pleasantly surprised at how forgiving and easy it was to work with. That step alone gave me additional confidence knowing that if I didn't quite get one piece lined up perfectly, I would be able to have a second bite at the apple so to speak.
After installing this wrap, my wife decided she wanted one on her sled. She too has a Polaris RMK so we began looking at various wraps to find one she liked. She eventually settled on one but it was not an @arcticfxgraphics but, we thought we would give it a try. The kit for her sled came in and had no rhyme or reason to the way it was laid out and no real direction on what fit where. The design and picture didn't even line up and the vinyl itself was subpar by comparison to the one installed here from Arctic FX.
More than two years later this wrap is holding up amazingly well and as stated, it stands head and shoulders above the wrap we purchased for my wife's sled from another company.
In closing, I found that with a quality product, the installation was not as difficult as I thought it might be. I simply took my time and made sure that I took a methodical approach to the installation. If you're considering a wrap for your sled or any other recreational toy, I would highly recommend that you look into Arctic FX and consider giving the installation a try for yourself.
Nice!
