For IM skill, remember to stretch the skin, go in at 90 degrees leaving 1cm of the needle out, aspirate then administer the medication for 10 seconds for each ml, wait for ten seconds for absorption before removing the needle.

It's not part of the skill so you will cover it by asking the assessor if the trolley and tray are clean and ready for use.

Some CTC's marking criteria tells to aspirate. Northampton tells to aspirate only in the gluteos(and in OSCE deltoid is the site of choice, so it seems no aspiration for OSCE there). However, the Royal Marsden tells to aspirate.
