I bought this as my first propane grill. It's been a fun, learning experience ruclips.net/user/postUgkxCx5fHawkK9OoV-ojFrY8JLnZrFwAmvUt . I think it's a bit too pricey after looking at other grills, but it wasn't hard to put together and it works really well. I love the side burner option for heating food during a power outage. I have an electric stove and live in the South (Hurricane season), so this was a bonus. I also bought a cover for it and it has protected it nicely (the Char Broil All-Season Grill Cover 3-4 Burner: Large). Every few grill sessions, I take the rack (or grate) and burner covers off and clean them with a non-abrasive scrubby and mild soap. I wipe the excess off of the bottom as well, taking care to avoid the gas and pilot lines.
Great video, does the top comes off the box? What I mean is the whole frame where the actual grill is hanging.. does that comes out? Or how is it fixed to the box so i doesn't tilt? thanks
No side table for plate, accessories?
I wouldn't be able to leave the hand crank alone, and would probably end up dressing like a Viking for every cook out.
+Michael DePew ha I want to see that lol😂
Same dude
Um, he may not be talking about the same crank you're thinking of. ;)
I'm confused, who doesn't dress like a Viking to BBQ?
recpzi+Peanut butterface and jellybelly
Wow, that looks outstanding!
I'm even more jealous of all your toys Roel! I can't wait for more videos now!
+michael landry Thanks Michael.... but I am sad too see this one go
Pitmaster guy, the grease drips down the V grate into a drip tray then where does it go from there? Does it drip into the corner of the pit or is there a small bucket to catch any overflow? Thanks
+Average Guy BBQ in the side of the pit. You can place a dripping pan there
Growing up, round charcoal grills had a post in the center that raised and lowered the grate about a foot above the coals by using a small crank. Sort of sounds like the same thing, but a lot cheaper. Made great steaks.
Man that is the best looking & most simple "grill" i have EVER seen. I think this will be my next diy project.
Gna start improvising that adjusting contraption today and figure out how to make it work. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍i am new to ur channel but will be a regular from this point on.
Welcome to the channel! Keep on commenting.. I love the connection!
How much was it?
Nice! love the videos! new subscriber here!
Pit master x what are the dimensions in the firebox? Length x width x height just the fire box does anyone knows this?
I bought a Santa Maria grill insert that fits a Weber 22,5 kettle for $200. Works great and good value. But I would love this one!!!
Steve Howard where did you buy it?
Very nice grill. Good overview.
Love this grill. The gentle heat from the burnt down embers and the
fire bricks is just perfect.
+Marco Greulich Looks good right Marco 👍
I need a link to buy this "used" grill. The price should be much less now LOL! Looks like a good quality product Roel!
Thanks Rus... yes it is really great!
3 years later ... I hope it's even less now lol
I think these Santa Maria style grills are a great way to enjoy the art of cooking out. Looks good
+old timer Thanks bro... Me too
Great grill, as is a lot of these Argentinian style grills on the market are right now. Parrilla cookers are hot right now and work great, but come with a heavy price tag.
What is the recipe for that basting sauce? Looks great
That Caveman is an awesome take on the Santa Maria grill. All stainless, fire brick and hardwood so I can see where it would be pretty pricy. You're right, there's something really good about food cooked over a wood fire.
+Big Papi Looks good right Papi 👍🤓 Wood fired grills rock
Flare ups are what you need mate, hell yeah that's real cooking
This looks totally awesome!:)
+Jason Bean Thanks Jason
how easy is it to clean?
do they give you a special cleaning tool for that grill grate? Looks like it would be a pain in the arse to clean.
Just burn it clean
Awesomed gill. Great video. I could practically taste and smell the chicken.
😀
In south america we used all thise grills. Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, Colombia among the countries that used it for centuries. In Mexico they build aunique series of grills that are beyond just cooking.
Asado, the real thing! It's having my interest more and more. Cooking directly above the fire gives the best taste.
+Eugene van der Meeren it does Eugene 👍 and it is a lot of fun.
this is a kind of Citizen BA`s Grill or Resto (*)
In the deep Arg, Country grills are on the floor-
PD= (*) usually builds with roof, walls, etc. like another room but in the garden or terrace...
How do you clean fat that drains in those chanells. Is it pain
Where can I buy this mate ?
Love this channel…..
Wow Sticker Shock! and I thought my little Joe was expensive, it appears that temp control would be a problem
+ronald robbins Hahhaha just a little 😉 temp control is not a problem. Just raise or lower the grate
Love it.
Man! that grill is awesome!
+Martyr It really is Matyr
Is the chains supporting the whole rack? Is it heavy duty?
i think one of those chains can support about 200kg; that should be enough
+Ilsunny Lo yes and they are super heavy duty
+Michi Kipsy haha yes that should do it
ARE the chains !!! Not is the chains. Go back and complete the 8th grade!!!
Really a good grill! To work with it must be great!
it really is Klaus! Epic gear!
cool grill
the BBQ Pit Boys use this grill often
for Steaks chicken and anything else
stainless steel is not cheap
but if you can welld you constructed your own grill
+Black Eagle yeah it is... they are right to use it often. It is a dream.
Yeah if you can weld like this your a hero
As a South African used to braaing rather than BBQ, this looks perfect. Cannot beat a good wood fire. The fact is though that a very efficient system can be constructed from a half gallon drum and will cost a fraction of the price and do the job just as well. The Caveman is a beautiful looking piece of kit though...
Thanks for sharing.
I have a south African braai... it is super awesome! In the end it is all about the food.
Oh yes. To be honest, I use my braai for many unconventional, non South African styles of cooking as well. Sometimes, combining techniques can produce the best results! I do smoked homemade bacon, flammlachs, pizza and all that good stuff!
Yep. Pretty cool
That's a home run. I love it.
+Good human be happy thanks😃👍
Those grills cook awesome bbq'd meats. We do big old Potatoes on them here in the country of Idaho too. Great video!
+grassburner awesome... I would to use one of these more often
That is super cool!!
Nice grill right
Pitmaster strikes again with Boss status!!!
Thanks Mark!
Really cool grill. I am actually in the process of building my own santa maria grill.
+Mother's BBQ That is awesome Chris! I love these type if grills
John Ryan Roger that!
Hey Mate. What is the price on that Santa Maria grill here in the good old USA? KUDOS from South Florida.
My wood came from buypimentowood. I must say flavor this brings to jerk chicken on the grill is next level. The chips are of a mild smokey flavor🤤🤤
I like that thing, very cool Roel. I love the Spatch Cock method for Chicken, it works out so well.
Yeah.. I love spatch cock chicken for this type of grill
woq u just found out?? we been having grill like this for years, built out of old drum barrels.. not as nice but does the same thing and more...
Delightful bit of gear, nothing like fun with proper wood fire.
+Dorian Foley That's right Dorian
Where did you find my sisters shorts?
on her bedroom floor
@@philtodaro3714 lmmfao 🤣🤣🤣
Lol
he made a seafood broth with her gstring as well
@@Jason-rs6co 🤣🤣🤣
Looks simple enough to make myself
When I lived in Argentina , every grill I saw had that type of grating and they all had a separate place to make fire . Beef or chicken or chorizo on the grill almost every nite . The big difference between theirs and the U.S. is that we tend to welcome the smoke in our meat so we allow it to drip on the coals and smoke . They try to avoid making smoke so they have grates that drain and a separate place to have hot coals ready to add . They feel the smoke covers up the clean , fresh flavor of their grass fed ,freshly slaughtered beef . No marinades or cooking sauces ever . Just salt . Incredible . It's a huge part of their lives and it shows .
Awesome!
Argentinians have been using this system for many years, they are the real deal when doing this type of grilling
Im from argentina, everything said is true. Only salt is added to our meat. Adding sauces, or letting the dark smoke from charcoals penetrate the meat while it cooks is like sinning in from of a church.
Totally agree. This video is claiming this product to be Dutch. Not true. It is 100% ARGENTINIAN.
@@5porteno The brand/producer is Dutch is what he was saying, not that the type of grill is Dutch.
Really like the design and build of it! Stainless Steel is were it's at! True Metal !!!!!!
Yep…….like I always say……..It's the wood that makes it good! \m/
+Heavy Metal Bar-B-Que it is heavy metal 🤘🤘🤘
Can you get these in the U S I've looked at a number of these types of grill this is a nice design.
Get the lsg Santa Maria grill the 36inch is 895 and makes this version look like junk
Do u make ur own peri peri sous, if so, what ingredients are used plz?
+Sven Smith yes I did! ... keep watching the recipe will come. If you want a traditional recipe for piri piri. You can find it when you search my videos
One heck of a grill!
+Hocus Smokus sure is 👍😃
Man I wanna come over and grill with you!!! I enjoy the channel!
Thanks would be cool!
Another great vid man i hang for this sort of stuff. My small channel is getting a makeover lol.
+TheMayhem15 Thanks bro. Small channels grow big. Sal or takes is hardwork and dedication 😃🤛🔥
That's where I live. It's a Santa Maria, Ca. Style grill.
#805
That‘s so very common in SA.
It virtually comes with the house.
There‘re other variants depending on the region as well. Simple, but effective.
How come you don't use this anymore?
I love open pit grills...
+Ray Mack's Kitchen and Grill me too glaring into the fire
Can you use this grill more often? Thanks
I can't it's not in my studio anymore 😣😔😥
Thank you.
I'm from California and that's the best Santa Maria grill I have ever seen.
The messed up part is that I live in California and have yet to see a Santa Maria grill with bricks lining the inside... that's cool!!!
+Hugo S. It works really well!
I think the grill is great, but called the company for how much to the UK £3000 plus shipping , are they crazy . If I was spending this type of money I would be looking for big offsett smoker on a trailer.
+Tarmac1 yeah.. you gotta really want it
Go too Bar B Que Mates website can get same thing made.
WFT 3k 😳
Do like I did, do your own, not hard to make at all and you will save a ton of money but after a month I scrap it and fit it on the fire pit, since I did that I will never spend money again, I don't have a tray for the hashes but that is why they make shovel, I use one from my old heating stove, all very easy to make and the best part, when I go camping, I always bring it with me, set up in less than 5 mins and ready to cook in 15, pretty sure you will save alot and with the money you save you can buy meat or anything else you like to eat, it cost me arround 200$ ( and what cost more is the grill itself, but again you can make one as your need ) for everything so worth the try, good luck !!! I think it will cost you almost the same for the shipping as the grill since it's so heavy with the bricks, but I never use them anyways :)
Lol for that type of money I could build a outside lapa with diferrent bbq and a wood fired pizza oven for baking.
Where did you get your BBQ sign?
I bought on a famous chinese webshop.
Nice pit,
Awesome grill. Shalom Bubba
Boi please ... Mah grill is a meteor with honeycomb grill pattern .
I’m from Uruguay.Give me my Uruguayan parrilla any day over that kids toy.
I’ve made Santa Maria grills with stuff I’ve had on hand already. I regret ever paying for a Kamado. So I’m never going to pay more than 50 bucks for a cooker again. I can make a cooker out of a stolen shopping cart that will out cook almost any cooker out there.
I want that grill! But how were the chickens and details on the sauces , please.
+mironccr345 they were delicious... one is a chimichurri sauce and o ne is piri sauce. I was testing these recipes and you will be seeing these in upcoming videos
That is a Really nice grill not going to lie
Thanks Mas.. wish it was stil here
I have mine and all I pay to the builder 150 us dls and have been in use for 4 years I am happy with it thise is to stupid spensive
I had something similar and I found cleaning the drip pan a real pain in the a**....
Oh yeah.. that could be a little job. Still I hope you enjoyed the food that came off the grill
I will never trade in my barrel grill
Think it will take some time and cooks to get used to it but then for sure a very cool grill. Flavours must be awesome from the wood Fire.
+Sascha Piel you will definitely have to practise skills to cook over a wood fire. But that should be easy for a dedicated pit master like you😄🔥👍
Pitmaster X Thanks 🙂. It is all because of these great BBQ channels like yours👍🏻 If one of these Beauties crosses my way I will take a closer look
Спасибо! Теперь сделаю себе такую же. )
круто веселиться Thanks for watching Sergey!!
Is weer mooi speelgoed Roel ;-) gaaf!!
+BensBQ Dank je walter
Its good, i would prefer Daslin industries since it uses pellets and it is controled by phone.
Bravo
really high priced equipment is useless to all but a few. those folks can buy whatever or already have it. can u include items an avg. family or single person can afford. btw their site doesn't share the price u have to contact them. smdh i never deal with companies that expect you to jump through hoops to tell u a price. if i could afford it i would also pass them up because that is not good business. imho
+Cotton Boxer Thanks tot the feedback Corton 👍
I hope you figured out you can built your own grill .
How much in USD
What’s the recipe for that whole grilled chicken man that looks good
Oh mate this is awesome! I would take this to bed with me!!!
+SirDaddytheBBQLlama haha.. don't let it fall on top of you... it will crush you 😅
Do they ship to the USA, without charging an arm and ah leg?
bro wood grillin smokes the meat right ! not gas
that dead bird is feathered !!! BRRR.
Spatchcock cooking is the best way to cook any bird! Nice crispy skin, and juicy meat!
+Dustin Bess Thanks... It is Dustin
Greetings from Ca. you need to cook Tri-Tip, check out Arizona Outfitters they make a lot of nice Sant Maria style grills PS I do not work for them.
Hi Jim! I wan't hope to get it in my studio once again. Sounds good I will check them out
These santa maria's all have a problem, you can't get the grill right next to the coals. This is important because you might not have a lot of wood, or do not want to spend too much wood cooking, this would make it faster to cook too or fine tune your cooking to the max. And this would make it easier, it your fire is running really low and you don't want to ignite it again and from this having to wait longer hours. Also, the closer the meat is to the fire the more smoke it will take.
Go too Costco 300,bucks Santa Maria,Lowe’s 100 in firebricks you got a 8,000 dollar Santa Maria, same thing, just saved a lot of money.
You should make your own, not to hard of a diy project.
I haven't seen any diy on something like this. Do u have a link you could share
@@davilafamily7556 I do not think so :-)
Yeah, my father could probably make one within a week(it can be as fast as a day if he has nothing to do, probably) as long as he has 2 to 4 hours of working on something like this everyday with minor distractions
Greetings from the USA Top flight!!! Echt heer lechter..............................
+death2pc haha thanks bro.. dank je 🤘😉
what about the fat that drops in between, i.e. the slits?
That is almost none... so not really an issue
only 1/3 of the fat drops that would from round grates.
I like how he splits the chicken
Se ve sabroso tu pollo 😊 🍗
Argentinians have been using this method of making their "Parrilladas" for ever, with the difference of using vegetable coal instead of raw wood. They built a fire on the side to keep feeding the cooking process. Also, a real "Asado" is seasoned with rock salt only. No "chimichurri" neither. Anything else would it be consider sacrilege!
Gotta love when third world countries cry because they too mastered the art of cooking meat over a fire.
