    Good god samples are like cheating. Even with a killer recording you can just do MORE with them. That snare drastically changed when you added the sample.

    Hello guys, speaking of Mixbuss in the box, I would like to share my excitement with you about the discovery of FirComp 2... never heard such a "respectful" SSL bus comp emulation that also packs so much punch! After the discovery, I sold my SSL The Bus+...

    • @spinlightstudios
      @spinlightstudios  Год назад

    • @andrealoverde8771
      @andrealoverde8771 Год назад

      @@spinlightstudios well, I definitely prefer the simplicity and the sound of the SSL G-comp which to my hear is not that far from FirComp 2. I’ve extensively tried each and every SSL bus comp emulation and to my taste the FirComp 2 is the absolute winner.

    Question 1: did you track the drums yourself? Cause the raw tracks sound great - clean, punchy, pretty much the golden standard of today. If yes, more insight into the recording process would be very welcome (mic choices, mic placement, processing on the way in, muffling, tuning, head choices etc.)
    Question 2: How much editing was required? Because again, the tracks sound like what I would aspire to - professional yet natural. It sounds like the drummer is VERY GOOD, which you can tell from other things besides timing - consistency, dynamics, instrument choices, pocket etc.
    Great results anyway, subbed!

      Hey Casey, thanks for the comment! I played drums on this track - it was a session job :) check out my video on recording pro drums in a home studio - I run through my entire choice and placement. After I’m done tracking I use flextime to make it all super tight - I also have a video on this part of the process too! Thanks mate

    Hiya... loving these show n tell videos... loving em! Quick question: you seem to have an instance of VCC channel on by default every time you load the Slate virtual mix rack... is that for some purpose? isn't that just randomly adding that 'sound' to the various individual tracks? is this a good thing? thanks again!

    • @spinlightstudios
      @spinlightstudios  Год назад

      Hey thanks man! I have VCC set to load up on default just because I like the sound it adds when stacked across a lot of tracks. It’s pretty subtle on individual tracks, but make a difference across a full mix. I don’t think it hurts to have it on some tracks and not everything. It’s just adding a bit of flavour!

    • @sunsofstatic
      @sunsofstatic Год назад
