I am always incredibly critical of Opeth covers, cause they rarely are done right. I can honestly say this is nearly flawless and I am incredibly impressed! (Fun fact: This song used to be my ring tone. :) )

+Guitar Freak I recorded everything separately and edited them together with iMovie. Nowadays, my process is way more complex, but that's what I did at the time of making this video.
Not really, honestly. I just learned it piece by piece, taking my time, playing it over and over again and by 3-4 days, I had learned it all, nothing really complicated :)
I use Bias Amp so I'm not at all familiar with guitar rig, but they should be similar. Key thing is to dial back the distortion and a bit of the highs so you don't get that overly synthetic sound. Moderate distortion, lower bass, higher mids and moderate treble are a go to for vst and the like
