Christie has managed a credible version of Atys at the time of Lully and Louis XIV. --Bravi tutti!

I have just seen this opera for the first time at Versailles opera house. Even though it was not a fully staged version the music was incredible and this scene was especially beautiful. Thank you to William Christie for re-energising this genre 🎻🎶🇫🇷

Qué privilegio has tenido...

I saw this performance at BAM. It was breathtaking, splendid. Paul Agnew (lead tenor) was Le Sommeil, Cyril Auvity (second tenor) was Morphée, Callum Thorpe (bass) was Phobétor, and Benjamin Alunni (third tenor at the back) was Phantase.

    Régnez, divin sommeil,
    Régnez sur tout le monde,
    Répandez vos pavots les plus assoupissants;
    Coulez, mumurez, clairs ruisseaux,

Cybèle causes him to fall asleep. The allegorical character Le Sommeil sings "Dormons, dormons tous" after a lengthy instrumental introduction featuring gentle music in G minor scored for a pair of flutes, violins, and basso continuo. Once asleep, Atys is first met by a chorus of Pleasant Dreams that sing of love.

Hardly. The "livret" of these operas may contain the instrumental and vocal music (and text), not necessarily fully orchestrated, and indications of the general scene and the entry of various characters, but not details of stage movement (not speak of individual gestures), dance choreography, or costuming.
Although there is notated choreography from other sources for a few solo and couple dances from the operas by Lully (and others), these are from two or more decades later and may not represent what was originally performed. There are no such written choreographies for group dances of the corps de ballet.
That said, it seems quite improbable that period staging would have included a figure lying prone on the floor of the stage. The frozen, cramped postures of the vocal quartet are also quite mannered in a very modern way.

Putting on a historical costume and standing in contrapposto does not historical acting make. Where are the gestures? Where are the facial expressions? They're like singing statues!
