Starring Jessica Biel, Melanie Lynskey, Timothy Simons, Pablo Schreiber, and Raúl Esparza.
Three-time Emmy nominee Robin Veith (“Mad Men,” “The Act”) wrote the pilot script and will executive produce. Nick Antosca (“The Act,” “Brand New Cherry Flavor”) will serve as executive producer under his banner Eat the Cat along with Alex Hedlund. Jessica Biel and Michelle Purple (“The Sinner,” “Cruel Summer”) will serve as executive producers for Iron Ocean. Michael Uppendahl (“Fargo,” “American Crime Story: Impeachment”) directed the pilot and will executive produce. Jim Atkinson & John Bloom will serve as consulting producers. The series is from UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and 20th Television, one of the Disney Television Studios.

The Act solidified Hulu as a new competitor for original series. Jessica was amazing in The Sinner & Cruel Summer and it showed off her talent behind the scenes. I love watching TV for work, I can recommend shows for days. Tokyo Vice is a new true crime fave on HBO, Ansel🖤

Watched the last episode today, Jessica really showcased how much of a powerhouse she is truly, she was remarkable in the sinner and this showed how talented she is. An amazing actress

She was fantastic in Yellow Jackets! That is to say she's great in all of her projects, but she had me fully captivated in the that show.
I really like her. She's a gifted comedian, but still absolutely nails dramatic roles.

I know! She is criminally underrated. She kills it in everything she's in, even projects with shoddy scripts or directing, so I'm happy to see her in some projects that are well written and let her shine.

Second, thanks for the recommendation. Frankly, I AM interested in this particular story, about "Candy," and have a feeling I shall watch both.
For the record, I do not watch "American Horror Story;" the stories and storylines interest me, but for whatever reason or reasons, I do not currently watch it. Although, there are several shows and movies that, people who really know me, know I would be inclined to watch, but for the time being, do not.
Regarding the marvel that IS Marvel, I AM surprised I have not watched every movie and TV show more than once, but I digress.
Is it me or is Hulu making better films than Netflix. Another winner for Hulu.

She was incredible in the The Sinner and it makes me so happy to see her in these roles. She has really found her niche. I know she's done thriller/horror movies decades ago but I always associated her with romcoms or lighter material.

MUCH much better than Love & Death. This actually felt completed and better detailed, whether factual accounts or not, it was great.
The suspense and mystery in this show was amazing and the sequencing made it all the more compelling.
Love and Death is rather dull in comparison.

It’s giving vintage “The Thing About Pam” vibes, a very different story despite some similarities. Stoked to see this amazing cast & crew. It’ll be interesting to see HBO’s Elizabeth Olsen version and I’m glad Jessica replaced Elisabeth Moss🍬

That's crazy! Hollywood has always been know to steal film ideas & the cookie cutter recipe forever when a film company caught wind of a good movie idea always been the 1st one would be w/ the bigger production house & then a smaller indy production house put out a similiar film. Either using a similiar name to trick ppl while rushing the release date to drop first or at least get close enough to the big marketing campaign of the original film using their buzz for their direct to video version. Ex: Krampus: The Reckoning (and "the reckoning" was unviewable on the cover lol) dropped right before the highly marketed Adam Scott Krampus film. The other route was to put a different twist reaching other demographics, which weren't targeted by the original ex: Paul Blart Mall Cop (family friendly) released Jan. 2009 compared to the R rated film Observe and Report which was released April 2009. Now with many films being released directly to streaming service there is less of a separation releasing 2 similiar films based on the same thing the same year now that there is no direct to video and marketing doesn't cost much and kids in 2022 practically eliminated ratings as R rated TV/Film/Video games are made for children now.
We just finished this yesterday and were both pleasantly surprised. Very well done. Pablo's work in the first few episodes was amazing.

As much as I adore Elizabeth Olsen's performance on the HBO's Love & Death version, Beil not only looks like her but also carries that cold, interior with a happy exterior look.

Elizabeth is just too sweet almost. I kept seeing her and not the candy who axed her "friend" 41 times. Also the characterization was off , looking too modern . I don't even 5hink you have too look like the real person, even though is a plus, but the ambience does a lot on a show

Just finished the series & I will say they did an excellent job with everything: writing, casting, set production. Very believable from start to finish. Although this case is very dark & disturbing*warning* I highly recommend it!!

Sadly, it's very believable how clear the signs were and everyone ignored them. I mean, the very first scene where she talks about what an honor she thinks it would be to be the cross on which Jesus was killed says loud and clear that she's a psychopath.

This story was also filmed for television, I think in the 80’s, starring Barbara Hershey in the lead role. Can’t remember it’s name , but it was terrific. Made a big impression on me, often tried to find it.

I am watching this right now. Episode 3. Jessica Biel is KILLING IT! I didn’t even know she had it in her! This is one of the best “don’t get married” campaigns if I ever saw one. Just…. DONT. DO. IT. LOL.

theres another candy series called love and death and its with elizabeth olsen and lily rabe, elizabeth olsen plays as candy and lily rabe plays as betty gore. if u a american horror story fan u would love lily rabe and if ur marvel fan u would love elizabeth olsen and krysten ritter. jessica biel is good actress loved some of her movies and tv series but i know elizabeth olsen is going to beat it as candy!

@@magicmovesstudio4856 I thought that too but I’ve watched both and think Biel did a much better job. Sinister and more realist. Olsen’s almost seemed like a parody. I thought Biel was an average actress but she nailed it.
@@jenniealtieri1471 yes! Elizabeth was just to sweet and her normal self. I also didn't care much about Jessica until this. She did an amazing job. Her candy is manipulative, cold, broken. The HBO Candy is almost this loving fun person and her victim the horrible one. It did felt almost like a parody, they even put the self defence story as reality. Even the clothes, hair and all that feel more realistic. Love& Death is a good show, but not as much if you seen candy or know the real story.
Love and Death is more accurate in the way it portrats Candy and her background, it's a tragedy. While this version tries to be too much like American Horrot Story or if it were a Hitchcock movie.
Omg and the fact that she got off and became a family counselor is sending me. Oh to be white in America really is like winning the lottery. Especially then.

I’m not saying this doesn’t look good or anything, but considering how late they cast Biel, and started production, they must have really rushed to finish this so they could air before the HBO Max show starring Elizabeth Olsen. The 5 night event scheduling seems like they just wanted to get this out first. Again, it’s not a comment on quality, but they’ve definitely moved fast with this.
