I am looking for a kit like this for my son . He goes hiking often and most times he is alone. This is a helpful resource.

I like the idea of the long neck lighter. To help with keeping the water out use a small piece of tape.

Hi. Great content. I keep a folder in my pocket, more room in the pouch. For fire I keep a back up Exotac nano fire striker. Gets wet, ferro rod alway works. I love your water filter. I’ll check that. See ya

High use items, and items I don't want to be without when away from camp, I want in my pockets. However, other items are nicer in a Maxpedition pouch than a ditty bag. I am too OCD to just have one bag that medical, repair, spices, are all dumped into like some hikers. Thanks for sharing, I'm going to add those new Bics to my kit as I love the distance from the glove; however the tube can get hot if you keep it on too long. I have not used a Bic brand but have a Dollarstore one I use at home.

Very well thought out pack. Great additions with the ez reach and glue sticks.

Any thought on adding tinder tabs or something like that to help with fire starting. Many are small and add minimal weight but help when in wet environments

Something to consider for sure. We have a lot of birch trees around here. The bark is a really good fire starter.
