Pig-Plex and MVP Scout should be a sweet combo. Just guessing it'd take medium or high rings to clear rear peep. I removed the rear peep to mount my V3 with low rings. I really like the rifle scope mounted low...doesn't require cheek riser, is less tippy, and fits in a scabbard better. I don't feel the need for back up irons. 1. Modern optics are pretty reliable. 2. I'm pretty comfortable "point shooting" with rifle tilted, sighting down the barrel out to 50 yards. I practice that quite a lot with my Mantis BlackbeardX equipped AR...plus we did it that way in paintball.
I love the RDB, it's my favorite carbine. I'd be happy with the Survival, but prefer a 20" medium profile barrel...especially if I wanted to switch between different bullet weights (I have an episode about that). My 20" pencil barrel likes 77 gr cartridges. Shoots 55 gr fine, too, but it's an 8 MOA change to the zero. My medium profile barrel AR barrel doesn't vary so much. I have a titanium flash hider/comp on order for the RDB. I found when shooting my RDB with no muzzle device the bullet weight made little difference. Hoping the titanium device closes that gap. Anyway, in today's market I'd take any RDB I could find and be happy. Complete RDB playlist ruclips.net/p/PLVlCoEE1rzM60wsyiKI5X6CuBlRYCRSkI
I've run forward mounted "scout" optics on my Marlin Guide Gun. Once I became ambi and learned of Bindon Aiming Concept, I really lost interest in running LER scopes on a rifle. I do kind of like running red dots that way.
I have no idea. Some rings I've had for at least a decade. I think I originally used them on my SU16c. Been on many rifles since. I think they found a home on the MVP.
For use as a shooter's aid, it's about as proper as you can get. I'd prefer QD sling studs rather than the posts. I run a MagPul MS3 on my RDB, but only because I can shoot it as well without using the sling as I can my AR with. Really enjoying this series. I have the ruger scout with 16 inch barrel. Keep up the great work .

You already made me buy the KelTec P17, now I am realy thinking about this Mossberg as my first long lange rifle.
Long Range...check out the Mossberg Patriot LR Hunter or the Tikka T3X. Longer barrels and less weight.
Just got a mvp scout, plan on getting Leopold vx freedom 1.5x4 and wondering what rings I need to clear ghost ring ?

New to you channel. Subbed. Was wondering what you thought of the survival version of the rdb

@@AmbGun thanks so much for the prompt and thoughtful reply. I'll be checking out that video. Thanks again.
It is a scout rifle, mount it forward of the receiver and you will not have a problem with hight.

What low rings are u using

For sure. That's a close to glove fit as you get!
I'd have added a proper sling before I added grip tape. My 2¢

@@AmbGun Gotcha. You can't see it in this video so I assumed you didn't have one on this rifle. My bad.
