Any sort of jump done by an experienced athlete has a moment where they are just levitating. I cannot comprehend in my brain how these dudes just have their torso floating while the legs are on the move

Try to keep your for flat on the ground and use your plié to take off versus your foot/calf. If your tendons are shorter, your may have to roll your calves out to assist in releasing the muscle.
