- MR-S's are notorious for having precat failure which result in a dead 1ZZ engine. In this video we gut the precat from my headers as we prepare my MR-S for next month's track event. Also featuring a walkaround of Kevin's (@kmeachy) K20 Type R swapped Toyota MR2 Spyder!

I was ignoring all factory aero when I picked my car up march 2022, since really want a monocraft gt300 kit. just impossible to find now since LP discontinued their replicas last year. I might try APR widebody, but it's just not as satisfying to look at, very close. a B+.
Vis still has monocraft gt300 rep of their own.. but I'm too scared to try..

Hmm could be bad pistons or head gasket, also common 1zz issues. Thanks for watching! :)
just dump it in the trash. you should 2zz swap it last week. THEN the car is "Stock" as I consider it. lol. the 1zz is playing the beta version. 2zz is the full version. 2zz turbo or K series is the expansion set.

That MR-S is a freakin rocket lol. Great power to weight ratio but the car felt very smooth at the same time. The swap was well done

Hi! Of course. The wheels are Rays Gramlights 57dr 15x8 +35. Tires are Federal RS-R 205/50/15 squared set up. And thank you!

Not at all! No CEL issues from removing precat.

Is there any better way than just pulling the O2 sensors to check the health when buying? If you did and couldn't see the cat material, how would you know if they had been gutted or taken into the engine? Thanks!
Aside from removing the sensors, I believe if you test-drive the car and notice loss of power or hear clattering noises in the motor, that may be another indicator that it has issues. However I recommend gutting it or purchasing an aftermarket header immediately after get an MR-S
just buy the car based on the shell condition. F***k whatever the 1zz is, just don't trust them all anyways. you gotta treat this car like a 240, you don't buy it for the engine it comes with, you buy it for the body and then put what you actually want inside.
