  • In this video Tony shows you How To Fit an Architrave
    He starts off by measuring the margins on the previously finished architrave and uses those measurements to mark out where the linings will be installed
    Next Tony measures out the plinth and begins to make his cuts, then screws in the bottom plinth blocks. The architraves are then measured to the appropriate length and cut to fit each side of the door.
    Then Tony nails the architraves flush along the side, its time to glue the the top of the architrave to the sides, securing it with 4 small nails.
    Lastly Tony taps in the last few nails along the architrave to secure it and the job is done

    Lots of good detail in this one Tony; sorry for the questions but the only silly question is one is the one that wasn't asked. What screws were used for the bottom plinths here please? Also, if you were using MDF architrave, what would your preferred method to glue the mitre? would you use the Evo Stik wood glue or a two-part mitre product? Thanks for this video.

    • @BuildWithAE
      @BuildWithAE  Месяц назад

      I personally only use wood glue it’s just that I’am old school I have seen people use both at the same time to stop movement but if you pin top of both edges it doesn’t need the quick glue

      Hi Richard absolutely correct I should of gone in to more detail of understanding timbers but it a fine line between making the video to long and to the point. As we are all know Rich timber quality has massively declined because of cost and produce crap product, tell me when was the last U.K. merchant had high grade red deal in never because they don’t it’s a numbers game, now this timber was specifically machined by a joinery shop and used good grade timber the machinist had machined it correctly which is a must, hopefully this explains the reason it’s all about quality of timber have a awesome weekend all the best Tony 👍

      @@BuildWithAE hi Tony, thanks for spending your time to reply. I’ve been a joiner for 19 years so I totally understand where your coming from with the poor quality of timber theses days. Just surprised you wouldn’t put some sort of adhesive just in from the outer edge to help reduce some of the movement on a big architrave. I understand price also comes into big jobs too
