Twelve (12!) courses later during this pandemic, I will share with you my LinkedIn Learning courses review in this video.
If you're looking to up-skill yourself, LinkedIn Learning is likely one of your choices as far as online learning platforms go. In this video, I will share with you five reasons why it might be useful to you - as well as three reasons why you might want to look elsewhere. I took twelve courses in the last ten months so you don't have to (or to encourage you to do the same thing).
You can check out the list of LinkedIn Learning courses I took on my LinkedIn profile:
/ jsncruz
LinkedIn Learning is NOT a free platform. It will cost $29.99 a month, which is why I made this video to guide you with your online learning platform decision.
Are you planning to sign up for LinkedIn Learning?
Are there other platforms that you believe are better?
Let me know, and leave a comment below!
I hope this video helps you, and may you learn better today!
Update: As of March 5, 2021, I've taken 24 courses on LinkedIn Learning. My opinions in this video have not changed since doubling the experience on the platform.
Hi Jason, thanks for putting this video out. Anyone who’s checked LI in the past few months has surely been prompted to use their free month just to try out LinkedIn learning, so this definitely hits home with anyone who’s interested in continued learning. As a follow up , could you list the courses you attended that you found to be the most useful?
Hi Victor, thanks for dropping by! Thanks for the suggestion. What I'll do is put in the video description the names of the courses I took 😊 Hope they help!
I'm not surprised that you didn't find that much value in the shorter courses. Lots of people want "quick fixes" but the fact is that in order to become good at something, or knowledgeable at something, you've got to work for it and spend a lot of time on it.
Absolutely! The quick courses were good REFRESHERS, if nothing else. But definitely not something I'd be crazy proud of "finishing" 😆
Here is one way to look at it. Some people watch TV for hours. Some people play games for hours. What’s wrong with learning and clicking through a online courses?
Absolutely nothing 👌🏼

good point
Learning paths! These are the good, lengthy courses I like. They are a bundle of courses all related to a topic and they go from basic to advanced. They give you a certificate per course and a certificate after completing the learning path. I am doing an excel learning path that goes from basic to very badass. I already knew the basics so I watched that part without paying much attention; but I once started the advanced formulas I immediately knew I had a lot to learn.
Hi Giovanni, Learning Paths are great! I took the Digital Advertising one. Super agree with you, some parts are a snoozefest if you're experienced but I felt quite challenged during the more technical parts of the course.
Thanks for dropping by, I appreciate it 😊🤘🏼
Does the certificate show on your LinkedIn profile after completion ?
@@walidyacine8660 You can link it and it shows up nicely.
@Martin Findlay No, that shouldn't matter. Maybe the instructors added new content. Take a look, it happened in my Advanced Excel formulas I had something incomplete. Sometimes also when you use the mobile app there is content that seems to get skipped.
This video is extremely well made and exactly the perfect resource I was looking for! Super helpful!
Great to hear! Thanks for dropping by 🙌🏻
Anybody considering LinkedIn learning (especially in the US & particularly if you’re in an area with a robust library system) some libraries offer access to LinkedIn learning free for library cardholders. Personally I know Boston Public Library & Charleston County Library (South Carolina) do. Check your local library, or if they don’t have it then see if you can pay to join an outside library system for access. Good luck to everyone looking to improve your career skills.
The three things (drawback) you mentioned about LinkedIn Learning are true. But if you have paid version, I'd go for Learning Paths. That makes LinkedIn Learning a badass. I am I still love LinkedIn Learning particularly their Learning Paths.
Hi Rab, thanks for dropping by! Yes, I agree with you on Learning Paths! I did a 19-hour one for digital marketing and overall it had so much more value vs piecemeal courses.
Very helpful! Thanks!
Thanks as well, and for dropping by!
Appreciate the info you shared!
You're welcome, Andrea!
Good to know that LinkedIn has this kind of learning platform. Good audio btw. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for stopping by, Van! Go check out their free trial, there might be courses you'd enjoy 😊 Glad the audio is good, too! I'm using a new mic setup haha
@@BetterTodaywithJasonCruz Crystal clear picture as well!
Haha, yes indeed!
Thank you so much for clarification Now, I'm clear that whether I should learn from linkedin or Not

Glad you found it helpful!
Great review!
Thank you, Darsheet!
Hahaha same!! 💪🏻 great companies offer linkedin learning❤️❤️ i love my job
I'm guessing your company offers LinkedIn Learning 😆🍻 Thanks for dropping by and I hope you've Subscribed!
Nice content bro!
Thank you! 😊🍻
I don't think its a waste of time, it all comes down to how you use the info taught
That's a great perspective! 😊👌🏼
Nice content. I liked how organize your LinkedIn Profile.
Thank you! And thanks for dropping by 😊
@@BetterTodaywithJasonCruz Just add you sir Jason in LinkedIn. Thanks.
Got it! Happy to connect 🤘🏼
for software courses; I just consider LinkedIn Learning courses as instructing ones not a full-comprehensive tutorial with high quality practices
Hi Nawaf, yes - even for non-technical courses, it's not necessarily going to give you super deep knowledge. I like to treat LinkedIn Learning as a "refresher" or a primer (if I'm new to the topic).
Thanks for dropping by, hope you've subscribed!
ITs expensive for me,, since i had no stable job and im newbee, i hope they max their prices per country
Lots of free courses for you to learn from, so I hope those can help you out ☺
Hi sir, I'm learning 3d animation and vfx ,do these courses will help me to master my skills? Thankyou
Hello, I just found your video (great job btw !) but I don't really know if I would have enough time for LinkedIn Learning. Even thought, the platform looks to have good classes about business and entrepreneurship.
Hi Viktor, thanks for dropping by 😊 The beauty of LinkedIn Learning is that even if you only have 30-45 mins, you can still try out a short course 😊
@@BetterTodaywithJasonCruz yeah i am going to take the free trial
Awesome, go for it!
You don't have accent. Cant even tell If you speak tagalog. Great job sir.
Haha! Maraming salamat po, Karlo 😆
i love your voice
Your local public could offer LinkedIn learning free by using your library card
That's a pretty good idea - if we had a public library that was accessible ☹ Thanks for the suggestion, Dina!
Hey Jason! Your new subscriber here! I'm preparing for MBA exams and wants to improve my resume. Do these learning and certificates helps me for taking admission in top B-Schools? Thanks!
Hi Aniket, thanks for dropping by. As credentials, I don't think they literally help (unless the courses you take help with skills required in your admissions test). However, they might be useful during the interview phase to show you're always keen to learn no matter the format 😊
All the best with b-school!
@ 2:18 Agggg Im dying 🤕😩
I got two months for %50 off. so $15 month. Listening in the commute is a great idea
That sounds like a pretty good deal! Thanks for dropping by, Jer! Hope you've Subscribed 😊
Do you get to keep those courses for a lifetime? What happens if u stop your subscription? Thanks.
@@mysouthernexperience7747 Once your subscription is over, you lose access to the courses. However, the certificates you've obtained are yours (so make sure to download then as well) 😊
Coursera has a particular course for 1-3 months where as linkdin has it under a day i want to learn extra skills for my MBA resume which one would you suggest sir and which one of those both have the highest value
Thanks for dropping by, JB. I suggest you take a look at the Coursera option, especially if it's coming from a school or education provider that has well-known courses that could help your skillset.
@@BetterTodaywithJasonCruz alright sir thank you 👍😃
Good luck!
What were your favorite and less favorite courses you took? Or have taken over your time on Linked In Learning?
Anything on communication is usually up my alley!
natutuwa lang ako kasi lahat ng comments talagang sinisikap niyang replyan, you earned my lifetime subscription for that, just a quick question lang for example na one month lang yung keri kong bayaran, can I have all the certifications I want? or kada isang certification may iba ibang bayad.. nag-aalala lang ako baka hindi naman ako makakuha ng certification after ko magbayad for one month only.
Hi Humi, thanks for the comment and for the lifetime subscription 😅🙌🏼
If one month lang ang membership, take as many courses as possible na para sulit. Suggestion ko, aim for a Learning Path - nakaset na yung modules (each one has a certificate if yun ang gusto mo) tapos may "final certificate" pa when you finish the full Learning Path.
Coursera is the best. But it breaks my heart that the content in some courses is outdated and there is no way to know except after investing a quite time with the course.
That's a fair point. Depending on the industry, this can either be a huge problem or just a minor annoyance. For digital marketing, as an example, anything older than 2-3 years is IMO outdated. But for "general marketing", concepts can have a little more longevity.
Thanks for dropping by, I appreciate it!
@@BetterTodaywithJasonCruz Exactly the same for software engineering with all of its sub fields.
Oh yeah, for sure.
The cultural thing is my biggest issue with LI Learning. The way they speak, the tone of many of the courses and some of the things they say annoy me a lot and I find it difficult to stay motivated. I think there are many RUclips classes that are much more fun to follow along because they don't feel as "corporate" as many of the LI Learning courses.
I totally understand what you mean. The videos are hit-or-miss IMO. I just try to get value from the material, if not from the presenter.
Please put in your top 10 courses
I'll make one for this year, thanks for the idea!
What would be better between courser certifications and LinkedIn certs?
Hi Neida, thanks for dropping by. It would depend on your objectives.
If you're looking to be certified because this is a requirement for work (e.g., a Google ads certification) then it's more valuable, both from a skill perspective and a CV perspective.
If you're looking to increase knowledge or have a refresher, then LinkedIn certificates are okay. Hope this helps!
@@BetterTodaywithJasonCruz Thank you for taking the time to respond. I am definitely giving LinkedIn a chance!
Hi Neida, my pleasure. Thank you for watching!
What do you think of Data Science, ML and AI courses on LinkedIn Learning?
Hi Morteza, thanks for dropping by. I think they're informative enough for absolute beginners but for more experienced professionals (or practicing professionals) they are likely too easy.
You can also treat them as refresher courses, if you simply need an update on what you know.
I love Linkedin Learning!
🤓👌🏼
3 years unemployed, took care of a family business. Will LinkedIn learning certificates help me back to the corporate world?? Thanks! Im in Philippines by the way.
Hi Raffy, thanks for the comment!
Hmm, if you use the certificates as substitutes for a school diploma or professional certification, baka hindi pwede. However, if you include them to show you are continuously learning and upgrading your skill sets, then they could be helpful! Lalo na if the courses you take lean towards a specialization.
@@BetterTodaywithJasonCruz Yes, that's what I thought too. I have 4 year experience nmn, its just that I took care a a family business kaya I've been out of work for 3 years. I'll try this LinkedIn learning and see if it could help. Thanks for the quick response!
You're welcome, and thanks for checking out the video 😊 Hope you've Subscribed!
@@BetterTodaywithJasonCruz Subscribed! :)
Awesome! Thanks, Raffy!
I will start taking free courses from linken learning . If I like them, I will pay for the subscription
That's a smart tactic!
when i click the learning link it opens a page that says linkedin and thats it I have to wait hours for it to actually load. how do I fix it so it opens the page everytime. I just joined and am checking out lots of different things at 1 time adding to collections and seeing if they have exercise files. After I check out about 15 of them it turns to the blank page. I delete my cookies but that dont help. Is there a option to refresh it so I can use it because Im not going to continue to pay for this if the basterds keep blocking me out
Hmm that's an interesting problem. Maybe you're clicking LinkedIn and not the "Learning" icon or tab?
Are the certificates you get from these courses are valid?
Good question, Krishna! It depends on what you want to use the certificates for.
For example, if you want to use them to illustrate a continuous drive for self-improvement - then they're 'valid' as a proof point. However, if you want to use them as substitutes for certification from more traditional (i.e., formal) schools, then it might be difficult if not downright impossible.
From my personal experience, they help more for the former and I've never used them for the latter.
Got it sir one thing I am planning to do financial modeling from linkdlin should I go for it?
Hi Krishna, my personal opinion is that you should go for it.
The best case scenario: you learn + the certificate opens doors for you and your career.
The worst case scenario: you learned something (and that's not too bad).
Better Today with Jason Cruz Done sir thank you so much god bless you🤗🤗
You're most welcome! Let me know how you do in the certification! All the best 😊🤘🏼
Not many labs on linked learning
Unfortunately!
pogi naman po
😆😅
When it comes to programming courses they are too basic and boring. THe best way to learn programming is to make meaningful applications
That goes for a lot of the more advanced courses, for sure.
Oreilly is far better.
Not too familiar with that 🤔
well to be honest , linked learning is not worth it. It's not really practical and the content is quite boring and not variety
There are definitely better options out there but for quick sessions, it's not too bad 😊
Very informative! Appreciate it bro!
Glad it helped! 🤘🏼
