Great video. This really helped me wrap my head around Elliott wave as someone just learning this. I screenshoted these images and created a file/album on phone to refer back to as repetition is the mother of skill
Excellent introduction. You are 100% correct when you say the easiest thing about EW is the theory. The subjectivity of the application can make traders crazy. It's not... "RSI is oversold at a key support level just above 200ma anddddd! there's a pinbar." However... elliot wave can at least give you an overall idea of where price appears to be going. If it makes sense... I don't like EW, but i'm fascinated by it. It's one of those things that can really help you ride a nice swing if you know what to look for. I look forward to the advanced videos. As always thank you for the great video.
Hello. I am subscriber to your channel. Your insights and explanation of Elliot Wave for 'beginners' is excellent. I have learned more about EW watching your video than from any other person. Your insights are greatly appreciated. I find most people on You Tube only "PARROT" what other people have said and they get lost in trying to explain wave counts and 'flats' 'zig zags' and 'diagonals' patterns therefore they FAIL to add any real value or add any new information or explain how to apply the concepts. YOU are the exception. Your video is easy to understand and offers practical step and easy to follow rules. You are a great mentor/teacher.. Your efforts to produce high quality videos is greatly appreciated. Anyone struggling to understand basic EW concepts this is a must watch video.
Rule one where wave 3 cannot be the shortest wave is correct. The next part that was stated is incorrect. That wave 1 or 5 cannot be longer. Wave 1 could be longer than wave 3 if wave 5 is shorter than wave 3. Wave 5 could be longer than wave 3 if wave 1 was shorter than wave 3. The rule is simply that wave 3 cannot be the shortest wave.
It´s cool that you covered that topic, its still complicated for starters since there are many expections and you need to see the patterns int the charts. However, if you master the Elliot waves, you can make tons of money with it especially since it works in all markets, be it crypto, forex, stocks or even oil
It's so nice to see other know how to use elliot wave properly. All you really need to know is the difference between and impulsive wave and a corrective wave. Keep it up. 👍
It's very educational. Have been using Elliot wave. After wave 5 and the chart looks like it's doing a U-turn, I'm always patient and wait for the pullback or I take short and put TP in front of the previous low. So far it's profitable. Good luck trading.
Great video!! The Elliot Wave is the real deal, but you have to be patient and PRACTICE, PRACTICE, AND PRACTICE. The more charts you look at and analyze, the better you are going to be.
I don’t even wrap my head around how much detail was put into this highly engaging, informative, and exceptionally explained video. And now I understand the theory!!! Time to go charting

Thanks for introducing this great concept to this community. I've noticed you said something wrong : the wave 3 doesn't have to be the longest wave, the fifth wave can be longer than wave 3. The wave 3 just needs to not be the shortest of the 3 impulse waves.
Pretty sure wave 3 does have to be the longest because that's when the biggest buying momentum is occurring. The trend is ready to end at point 5 so not many people are jumping on here to buy.
Excellent video Hopefully u can make one on wyckoff theory too Both are developed during same time Wyckoff will give a better idea in ranging market and elliot will give a better idea in trending markets Both are two faces of same coin
Where do you think we are now? It seems to me from looking at the Nasdaq Chart, we may be in the Third Wave that started about April 1, 2020. Some people think we are in a Fifth Wave that started October 1, 2020, but that would make the Third Wave pretty short, violating the Rule that the Third Wave is the longest. Thoughts?
You might want to edit the part about wave 3. Like you said first the rule is that it can not be the shortest one period, it doesn't mean that it must be the longest although usually it is.
7:00 Min...waves 1 & 5 cannot be longer than wave 3. ....contradicts.... 7:59 Min....when wave 3 is the longer impulse wave... according to the 7:00 min mark it HAS to be the longest Which is it?
If I can make just a couple suggestions: I feel like it's better to get into the habit of calling these waves "motive" rather than "impulsive." When talking about trendy vs. against-the-trend movements, the "mode" terminology is motive vs. corrective. There are different types of motive waves (impulse, diagonal) and corrective waves (zigzag, flat, triangle, combinations). Also, maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but it seems like you might be confusing degrees in your discussion of trend reversals beginning around 2:30. Remember, every 5-wave move is itself a motive wave of a larger 5-wave move. So the corrections that occur after 5th waves are not corrections OF the 5th wave; they're corrections of the wave of the higher degree, or, the WHOLE 5-wave move that just completed. For this reason, we should *expect* the correction following a 5th wave to be larger than the corrective waves that occurred *within* that 5-wave move, even though the overall trend may not have changed. In other words, if you have waves I, II, III, IV and V of the supercycle degree, and *within* wave III you have waves 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 of the cycle degree, when wave 5 of the cycle degree completes, you enter wave IV of the *supercycle* degree (which includes waves A, B, C of the cycle degree). Wave IV of the supercycle degree is a corrective wave of the *whole* 1-2-3-4-5 move on the cycle degree, which would naturally involve (usually) a larger pullback than waves 2 and 4 on that cycle degree. It seems to me that when you compare "smaller" and "larger" corrective waves, you're actually comparing, for example, wave 2 and 4 with wave IV, which wouldn't be an adequate comparison because of the degree differences. This would suggest a bigger pullback than the last two pullbacks, but not necessarily a trend reversal. Unless you mean a short-term reversal until entering wave V, in which case my apologies for misunderstanding.
Sorry if this is a silly question: Just to clarify the correct terminology, so I can better understand... At what orders of magnitude, do we denote a wave as being a "3" vs a "II" or an "A?" Is it just by lengths of time, or also certain amounts of fluctuation? Are there industry-standard measurements for these waves?
