Lindz i liked the movie better than the books ONLY because, they changed the relationship between Hardin and Tessa. In the books, Hardin is more cruel and abusive to Tessa. In the movie, Tessa is more independent, showing a healthier relationship than what the book has

this is the first time in a while i’m watching this deleted scene and holy shit so many things stood out to me that didn’t before 😭 i really wish they kept this!! so much is said, yet unsaid in this scene! it really helps get a closer look at the characters and what they’re feeling, it’s more pieces to the puzzle.
the way Tessa asks Steph for help with her eyes lol
the way Steph is looking at Zed cause she knows what he’s trying to do!
the way Zed looks at Hardin and then to Tessa, hinting at what’s up.
Hardin checking in on Tessa after their messy
talk/fight at the bar (i’m assuming it’s after that since he knows she hates ketchup now). I love that it shows he is still pursuing her even though he’s the one who pushed her away. you can tell he’s trying hard to get her out of his head, but he’s still infatuated with her and can’t push it away this time.
Tessa’s quick and dismissive “hi Hardin.” trying her hardest to shut down those feelings for him, and rightly so after what he said to her at the bar! but it’s never that easy... just another reminder of how hard they’re fighting what they have 😂
“she doesn’t like ketchup” nothing new, just always makes my heart melt. he knows her a bit more now and is beginning to care and it’s scaring him!
Hardin’s demanding tone. he def had toxic qualities, it’s no secret, this would’ve helped show that and build up his character to who he really was in the book. (unless they were trying to make his controlling tendencies more low key in the movie, idk.. 🤷🏽♀️)
Hardin scoffing at Zed’s “i’m really trying to get this!!”, “this” meaning Tessa. I didn’t realize that till now. That pissed him off and he’s trying to get Tessa away from him. He thinks he’s protecting her, but clearly, he’s also jealous and is hiding behind that excuse because he’s too scared to admit he has feelings for her.
Tessa’s very capable of handling herself though, so no need. she’s strong-willed and this was a small moment that could’ve helped push for that trait in her. i feel like they didn’t show that side of her enough.
“Dude, you don’t own her man” really calls out Hardin’s controlling tendencies, but also, we ALL know what Zed was REALLY trying to say.
at the end, Hardin was too embarrassed and scared to say something, ANYTHING, to Tessa in that moment. i think here’s when he’s starting to realize he can’t be with her if he never confronts what he’s truly feeling.
he walks away with a feeling of loss so intense that we can’t help but feeling it too!
arghhhh😩 this was all so important, especially if you read the books!
