It's amazing to see what is preserved in that bunker. It's an explorers wet dream, so to speak. Hope you guys get to go back again and find out what else lies in store.

Might be an idea to keep some basic climbing and safety gear in the car. At least have a secure rope the next time you explore a vertical drop. I was seriously worried you lot weren't getting in one piece, fantastic place though can't wait to see you guys go back

Hi Ian and Chris i was there in 1972 with the school on a French trip the Gun No 3 was demolished by the French in the 1960s so i was told by a teacher who was a solder in the ww11 we visited the one that is now a museum.
Terrific search & video guys. Need to find what's in that locker. Gotta go back.

This reminds of what I've read about the difficulty they had demolishing the Berlin Zoo flak tower. They basically gave up demolishing the rest because of how much explosives was needed to destroy that one.

Those submerged crates might contain ANYTHING ! =Exciting, altho You know what they say about Curiosity...? Still, It's probably a load of old bolox anyway , so getcha Waders- on and Let's have a butchers at those Crates ? What d'ya say ? BE CAREFUL obviously. To continue from my previous post, it’s been about 35 years since l was there so things l expect have changed, on the access road to one of them a metal detectors discovered a row of shells for the guns buried under a collapsed wall. The magazine After the battle gives a good account of this and plans of battery Todt if you can get hold of a back copy. You mentioned Mimoyeques. Well 2 unexploded bombs were found two years ago in the roof. So be careful in these places. If you have time walk towards the sea fire control bunkers were there worth a look for bunker decoration unless the fools have been in. On your return home take a stop at Gris nez , as you come to it you pass over a small stream, a Luger and machine gun were found there by workmen widening the stream, a little rusty but still a find. So sorry Blanc nez was a radar base linked with batterie Lindermann with the sea on your left. 3 huge casmates which sadly are now buried under the spoil from the channel tunnel. We built samfire ho the French did that lake and buried them. Anton. Bruno and ceaser liberated by the Canadians. The fire control point has a wonderful painting in it or it did have. Here is a clue for you as l have no wish to direct the hordes. fan bay and Langdon hole is the type of places you need to look for. On to Calais battery Oldenburg large complex gun emplacements and hospital bunkers with large red crosses on sides, Now where all the illegals hide out. I would keep well away. Also where that spitfire was unearthed after a storm on the beach. Last thing google Coquelles find the radio masts then look on terrain all those little indentations are bomb craters, taking 1 in 5 did not go off there is still a load of them still around. Just a thought.

that door is a 434 P01 two piece door. design like that so the door could still be opened if there was excess ruble in the entrance due to a bomb etc

The #3 batterie was destroyed by the actions of my grandfather, Lt. Edward A. McLeish and his platoon of 38th Highlanders, after they fought through minefields and machine gun fire to surrounded it and began to lob handgrenades into the openings on the top of the gun. One of my grandfathers grenades found its mark and disabled the guns ability to rotate.
After that, the Germans blew up the gun and surrender to the Canadians.
There was one Canadian killed and two wounded in the operation.
My grandfather was awarded a Military Cross for his actions on that day and received his medal from King George at a ceremonial dinner at Buckingham Palace.
If you wish, I can email you a digital copy of newspaper clipping from our hometown of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada that recounts his tale at the time. I also have a digital copy from the British Archives which gives a military recounts of the events.

I hope this story confirms your belief that it was destroyed internally during a war time battle and not by a poor Frenchmans misadventure.
I would actually pay for you guys to take m to that casemate. Like seriously I would fly there from America and go with you guys. Also I would be up for being the test monkey to go ahead and seek out what’s in the flooded tunnel.
Great video guys but you really need climbing gear and helmets or hard hats it would really be sad if one of you got hurt. You guys are an awesome group of explorers stay safe.

Iks try to look for a reinforced steel door as that is ware the ammo will be locked up and that box looks like a mp40 box as it is not made out of mettle good luck.

You are at battery Todt it has been many years since l was there, the one that you are exploring was accidentally blown up by two workmen having a look around with a naked light. One was found some distance away dead in a tree the other never found. There are if memory serves 4 casmates, the one you are in is the only one destroyed. One is a museum which is definitely worth a look, and the other 2 were easy access. One of these 2 was used to make a film and some of the paintings in them are fake.
Go back for that box. You could do an opening video afterwards
