- External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has assured Mauritius of India's consistent support on the issue of the Chagos Archipelago, which is in line with the principled stand on decolonisation and support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations. The comments by Jaishankar, who is currently on a two-day visit to Mauritius, are important since the sovereignty over the Chagos Archipelago in the Indian Ocean is disputed between Mauritius and the United Kingdom. Mauritius has repeatedly stated that the archipelago is part of its territory and that the UK's claim violates United Nations resolutions banning the dismemberment of colonial territory. Since 1971, it has served as a military base to the US and houses 2,500 American-military personnel and temporary foreign workers, mostly Filipino.

Bangladesh has made reservations for those who fought for freedom of Bangladesh. There are some actual discontent with economics and unemployment issues. Many other factors involved. I think the quotas are necessary or the radicals (with support from Pakistan and west) will crush the people who want to see Bangladesh as liberal and secular nation. The white media reports the protests to be driven by unemployment, inflation, economic discontent and shrinking foreign reserves.
