stardust bunniez Saying Totally Spies did is like saying the Power Rangers did. They only did that but still used the same colors. And that show is about high school (?) girls, they had to.
Also they KILLED the bechdel test before it was a thing. Protagonists aren't defined by their relationship to opposite sex. Single mom, immigrant family that's not a cliche, tomboy who doesn't need to be girly in order to fit in, well off black family who isn't the "magic negro." This show really had it all
Hey, I watched Brady Bunch reruns for 9 years solid. Mainstream television, for what it presents today.... sucks. More commercials and those stupid logos in the corner of my expensive tv screen. That TV screen is my personal billboard and the corporate suits are vandalizing it with all their digital graffiti. Who cares about a high definition picture if the content is crap? Just give me back my reruns on my old analog 10 inch tv screen.
Man, so much nostalgia. So much feels. Whenever I watch these old themes a part of me wants to cry and go back to my childhood. Never wanted to grow up! Just wanted to hang out on the weekends!
The Weekenders was known for its distinctive animation style, similar to Nickelodeon's shows produced by Klasky-Csupo such as Rocket Power and As Told by Ginger, and also for being one of the few animated series where characters' outfits change from episode to episode. The series takes place in the fictional city of Bahia Bay, California ("Bahia" is Spanish for "bay"), which is based on San Diego, California where the creator lived. I liked the show's theme song, "Livin' for the Weekend", was performed by Wayne Brady and written by Wayne Brady and Roger Neill. In the years 2000 to late 2001, I was still in San Antonio, Texas, when the show came out on ABC's Disney's One Saturday Morning, and I watched every episode.
im here not only for nostalgic reasons but also found out that the theme song was created and sung by Wayne Brady from Whose Line Is It Anyway. wanted to hear it again. i miss this show
Wayne Brady is the shit! After seeing him in Whose Line, learning he sang this song from my childhood and seeing him on @Midnight last week, I'm pretty sure it's mathematically impossible for him to do wrong.
ABC NBC and CBS need to but won't bring back classic saturday morning kids cartoons and movie the news shows to 1:00 pm when all the cartoons are off the air and the kids are out side playing
Adam S hey man I know this is five months late but congrats on graduation. Med school ain’t no joke. And time stops for no man, and that fact totally fucking bites. but you’ve come this far, and you done good, so keep doing good, okay?
let's be real, this whole rap is even more fire than the fairly odd parents theme when Timmy says "green moose, guava juice, giant snake, birthday cake, large fries, chocolate shake" this whole songs wipes the floor with Timmy's lyricism
I've always liked how they had a proper wardrobe. Like, sometimes id think "Oh, Lor is wearing that shirt again, really like that one" and "Out of all of Tish's outfits, that's my least favourite".
It's so crazy to think that the creator of the show wasn't even sold on the idea. He kept pitching a bunch of other stuff in the meeting but Disney wasn't buying, and when they asked if he had anything left he just pulled out an old napkin with a simple idea scribbled on it: kids on the weekend. And that's how we got this gem of a show. I'm glad that his other ideas failed cause this show was soooo good.
Literally had this random thought today...'which show did I used to watch with a constantly changing pizza parlor?' and I googled it and of course it was THE WEEKENDERS. Seriously great cartoon.
It's funny to me that the show assumed you were watching on a CRT, based off of the sound the heard when Tino knocks on the screen. Really neat sign of the times.
A regular staple in my childhood 🥹….Did anyone else also do the little dances they did as this banger of a theme was playing lol damn this was such a top tier show 🔥🙌🏾
The one thing I remember about this show, they're trying to get into a museum or something, had to convince the dour docent/curator to let them in.... Carter: Perhaps my good friend George Washington could persuade you? Curator: You're attempting to bribe me with a dollar? Carter: Actually, I was trying to bribe you with a quarter. Curator: ............heh.....hehe..........that's the closest I've come to laughing in fourteen years.......... Wow, just realized it's probably been at least fourteen years since I heard that..."later days" indeed.
Was I the only one who found those cheese fries visually appealing. I remember literally wanting to jump into the TV Super Mario 64 style and eat those cheese fries. that's how visually appealing they looked :P.
Yeah it's funny cuz I made fun of my parents for having "stupid shows when they were young" but they say mine were stupid, and I swear adventure time is the dumbest show to ever exist lol
That's what everyone says about the next generation. My brother used to tell me that 90s shows sucked ass and that 80s shows were much better. I, personally, like shows now. Steven Universe, to name one, is an amazing cartoon.
@Scarface, Funny how people are always shitting on old cartoons in 90's/early 2000 cartoon videos, yet they're not willing to give the new cartoons a chance. It's pretty sad, actually.
Holy shit I just realized, at 30 years old, that my hairstyle is pretty much like Carver's. And when I was little and watching this, I distinctly remember wanting his hairstyle but didn't know how to achieve it back then. Fuck.
One of the only cartoons where the characters changed clothes regularly.
Kim possible did too
i90sKnd I know; it's refreshing and it shows the people that animated this show had really good talent!
Totally Spies did!
stardust bunniez Saying Totally Spies did is like saying the Power Rangers did. They only did that but still used the same colors. And that show is about high school (?) girls, they had to.
And they don't have all of the same outfit
This was one of the best kids' shows because the main characters _actually acted like kids_.
At the same time, a lot of the writing was really clever too. I'm almost 30 now, and a lot of lines still make me go "Heh, nice one."
Back when "Kids shows" treated kids like intelligent humans.
Also they KILLED the bechdel test before it was a thing.
Protagonists aren't defined by their relationship to opposite sex. Single mom, immigrant family that's not a cliche, tomboy who doesn't need to be girly in order to fit in, well off black family who isn't the "magic negro." This show really had it all
and no drama that let the four just be friends even with the opposite sex that they dont need to fell in love
If you were a kid in the early 2000s than you'll definitely remember this show!
Hell yeah! I'm 17 now lol but I still watched it.
+Jarel Gordon I do but don't have 1 clue what the hell happens in it
I'm 16 now I remember
+Jarel Gordon ditto
lol im 13 and i would always watch this with my older brothers
I wish my weekends were this cool when I was 12
you & me both girl
SHESHa B Mine used to be like this back in elementary school
+ToruKun1 i wish i was that rich on weekends when i was 12 lmfao. they went to the arcade/pizza place /mall/movies all the time.
They must be rich or something lol. My weekends are boring and slow.
ChelTime liar
This show needs to be on Disney plus.
Oh dude, I know, me too, the weekenders should be on Disney plus.
Agreed
IT’S NOT????? WTH is Disney thinking??? Smh
Yeet
Wow that's awesome
the one problem i had with this show was that there were never any new episodes, they were always re runs for 3 years strait!
True but the characters would wear different outfits from time to time which is pretty neat.
So what? Germany re-ran Talespin plenty of times till around 2004. Along with some other series.
Straight*
it got moved around alot so it ended up getting cancelled :(

This is a criminally underrated show
I totally agree with u on that one, my friend.
i used to think becoming a teenager would be so lit because of this show. i was so wrong hahah.
+brooklyn ゆがみました kids also think it'd be great to be an adult and end up wrong
+TeamForwood true.
I'm 28 and wish I was 22
Preach! Being a teen sucks foreal. I'm 17 now and I want to go back to being 7 and have innocence and no responsibilities.😥
Ha!Wait until you become an adult. You'll wish you were a teenager again
I just found out that Wayne goddamn Brady sang this song, and now my life will never be the same.
Ikr? I didn't know niether!
He's also Clover on Sofia the First
@@lollipopcorndog and THAT'S what f***king hit me too
To also
'lets make a deal' game show too!
Knowing Wayne Brady, he probably improvised it.
I just came here after the Masked Singer!
Man, so much nostalgia. So much feels. Whenever I watch these old themes a part of me wants to cry and go back to my childhood. Never wanted to grow up! Just wanted to hang out on the weekends!

So basically the city is technically Bay Bay City? 😅
im here not only for nostalgic reasons but also found out that the theme song was created and sung by Wayne Brady from Whose Line Is It Anyway. wanted to hear it again. i miss this show
Man, he has some serious talent.
Sham Neo I just learned he wrote and sang this today. What a talent
Here for the same reason lol
Sham Neo I KNEW IT!!! I knew he sounded familiar. 😂😭 I'm majorly fangirling right now
Wayne Brady is the shit! After seeing him in Whose Line, learning he sang this song from my childhood and seeing him on @Midnight last week, I'm pretty sure it's mathematically impossible for him to do wrong.
My childhood...ahhh...I'm a teacher now.
How old are you?
in my 20s. I was in junior high when this came out Mish Hawai
moggfree ooh I was in 1st grade when this came out. Now I just graduated haha I'm 17😁
ABC NBC and CBS need to but won't bring back classic saturday morning kids cartoons and movie the news shows to 1:00 pm when all the cartoons are off the air and the kids are out side playing
you said it I wish disney would re boot some of these shows, like filmore and Loyd in space, and weekenders
Damn time is an devious bastard. I remember watching this as an 11 year old as if it were yesterday...I'm graduating medical school in 5 months. :(
Adam S hey man I know this is five months late but congrats on graduation. Med school ain’t no joke. And time stops for no man, and that fact totally fucking bites. but you’ve come this far, and you done good, so keep doing good, okay?
Congrats! Maybe we can do some business sometime! Good luck w/ Residency & Fellowship!!
This show was my Saturday mornings for years.
let's be real, this whole rap is even more fire than the fairly odd parents theme when Timmy says "green moose, guava juice, giant snake, birthday cake, large fries, chocolate shake"
this whole songs wipes the floor with Timmy's lyricism
+SNES Bro ooooooooooo
*clears throat*
REALLY MOD PEA POD BUFF BOD HOT ROD
OBTUSE RUBBER GOOSE GREEN MOOSE GUAVA JUICE
GIANT SNAKE BIRTHDAY CAKE LARGE FIRES CHOCOLATE SHAKE
Mikaela Scott
Really odd.
That's not even rap from fairly odd parents not even rap. But I do agree better lines in the weekenders
The characters and the dialogue felt organic....very REAL. Loved it
I used to copy their dance moves...now I look back on it and realize that their dance moves were awful. XD
+Vivien Ballard There's something about cartoon characters doing human things and making them look cooler. lol
Wish toon disney was back, but the past is the past :/
u suk
Patrick Boudreau thanks! That makes me so happy! 😊
Lmao omg me too 😂😂😂
I can’t believe this came up. I remember the show as a kid.
Every time this show came on I always did my own dance to the theme song. Catchy tune. The early 2000s had a good deal of interesting cartoons.
The only cartoon characters that changed their outfit
As told by ginger
Totally spies
As told by Ginger changed the character's outfits every episode and sometimes multiple times in an episode.
nope. as told by ginger.
I've always liked how they had a proper wardrobe. Like, sometimes id think "Oh, Lor is wearing that shirt again, really like that one" and "Out of all of Tish's outfits, that's my least favourite".
Man I remember watching The Weekenders, Recess and Fillmore everyday after school, what a time!
why my weekends after school were always sunny and warm.... the weekenders thanks for making every weekend of my childhood worthwhile
I’ve watched this video every Friday for the past 2-3 years
this show was hella underated
When you realize you're fucking old...
The Plains Jam right
What are you 90? Youre not old...
Grunderssen Bjerknes When I mean old I obviously mean that I’m nearing my 20s; i.e I’ve been living for 18 years
It's so crazy to think that the creator of the show wasn't even sold on the idea. He kept pitching a bunch of other stuff in the meeting but Disney wasn't buying, and when they asked if he had anything left he just pulled out an old napkin with a simple idea scribbled on it: kids on the weekend. One of the last great Saturday morning cartoons Disney made. Wayne Brady did a great job on the theme song.
It was on One Saturday Morning on ABC.
0:22 I remember having toon Disney using the Comcast digital cable box. I used to think at this particular moment the box crashed lol
DAMN IT F**KING COMCAST-
Omgg I use to watch this EVERY morning before school, Gave me something to look forward to in the mornings :(
How could I forget about this show?! This used to be one of my favorites. :D
THIS SHOW WAS MY SHIT I FUCKING LOVED THI SHOW
What do you just say
MY CHILDHOOD!!!!!!! miss this so much, im actually gonna watch some episodes now loool.
This is the perfect song for the start of the weekend
I was such a weekender!
Brings Back Childhood Memories, My RUclips-Friends. Oh, Disney's The Weekenders, We Miss You So Much. :'-)
Another underrated show.
This is a bop!!!!
It really is
Isn't "A bop" 40s slang?
Anytime I watch this I strangely crave chili dogs
You realize as an adult that all we work hard for is the weekend
This better be coming to Disney+ someday.
wow this show completely slipped my mind. I probably havent thought about it since it aired.
Wayne Brady didnt have to go this hard for us when we were kids 🔥🔥
Literally had this random thought today...'which show did I used to watch with a constantly changing pizza parlor?' and I googled it and of course it was THE WEEKENDERS. Seriously great cartoon.
I miss this show
Me Too!
Thank you for the nostalgia
It's funny to me that the show assumed you were watching on a CRT, based off of the sound the heard when Tino knocks on the screen. Really neat sign of the times.
Yeap 😊
I NEVER missed this show. It was one of my absolute favorites. :-)
Nostalgia, now currently I'm working a 9-5 desk job, just reminiscing on my childhood.
HOLY CRAP! I completely forgot about this......as SOON as I heard the first NOTE of the song I knew it immediately. Awesome! Childhood isn't forgotten
These kids were living life. Before social media.
Great show. Spending each Saturday morning watching cartoons like this. I wish I could re-live it all.
All these years later.. and I'm still livin' for the weekend xD
I feel like this is one of those shows that a lot of people forget about, but it was one of my favorites!!
I wish that show will come back on Disney XD.
That song was performed by Wayne Brady.
dakotaclarke33 has some episodes posted Better watch them before they're gone
The Weekenders were awesome!! I missed watching this show and still do to this day
Anyone else had a crush on Lor when they were younger.
both Lor and Tish could get it
classicrockkid345 yeah I was into chicks like that when I was a kid.
same Lor was cool and I did have a crush on Lor. It's hard to find girls like lor type
I had a huge crush on Tish as a kid because I'm into nerdy girls and now I'm engaged to one. But I thought Lor was cute too.
classicrockkid345 Same
A regular staple in my childhood 🥹….Did anyone else also do the little dances they did as this banger of a theme was playing lol damn this was such a top tier show 🔥🙌🏾
smiled so hard all the way thru this video T-T
Oh my god thank you for reminding me of this show!
LATER DAYS haha aw, I remember this wholesome show.
Loved the show, and this pepper Ann and hey! Arnold! Have the absolute best theme songs
This is why I cherish the weekend
I know amazing
This and Recess were two of my favourite shows as a kid. I remember watching them all the time on Family Channel at my daycare.
Such fond memories! I couldn't wait till friday night to watch this on Toon Disney!
Oh man I totally forgot about this show until now. I definitely enjoyed it a lot whenever I caught it on TV.
Just realized Static Shock and Carver have the same voice actor lol
The same with Tino and Richie
@@Luis27377 and Tish and Phil & lil
and Samurai Jack! Phil Lamar is a legend
Same with Lor, Sam Manson, Frankie Foster, and Azula
@@darkmask4767 And Kitty from Danger Rangers (no relation to the one from TUFF Puppy)
This was probably one of the best themes songs!!! I miss toon Disney 😭😭. I'm 23 and I actually decided to watch a couple of episodes 🤣
A slice-of-life western cartoon! xD
I know like cartoons
Thanks, I rediscovered this show after a decade
I never knew Wayne Brady sang this. No wonder I always had it stuck in my head.
This was fantastic.
Watching the actual show on ANY other day would feel wrong.
Oh my god my childhood is right in front of me. Why do they not play this anymore?
because Disney thinks all kids are dumb and play shows with at least one Brian dead chracter
+The gaming stick I assume you meant brain-dead. Unless you were referring to a character like Brian who died that time in Family Guy...
+Kristopher Walker ya I mentioned brain
+Marscars0 that so went over your head
AYEEEEE! 90S & 2000S 🔥🔥🔥
CHEERS 2 ❤❤
NEVER GROWING UP
WERE JUST "BIG KIDS " !!! 👏👏

I had a BIG crush on Tino when i was 11🤗

I LOVE SPONGEBOB BY KATIE Tish at 10 or so I think I'm 20 now lmao
I LOVE SPONGEBOB BY KATIE oml me too
I always loved the style of this show. It's so fun and distinctive. :)
The one thing I remember about this show, they're trying to get into a museum or something, had to convince the dour docent/curator to let them in....
Carter: Perhaps my good friend George Washington could persuade you?
Curator: You're attempting to bribe me with a dollar?

Wow, just realized it's probably been at least fourteen years since I heard that..."later days" indeed.
OMG. I forgot all about this show!!! Just listenin to this gave me a nostalgic moment!
Was I the only one who found those cheese fries visually appealing. I remember literally wanting to jump into the TV Super Mario 64 style and eat those cheese fries. that's how visually appealing they looked :P.
Cheese fries are poutine
Ooo kicks yah right in the childhood! I dearly miss this show...
I wish this song was longer
I remember watching this show every morning before school when I was in grade 7. Good memories!
Use to watch this every Sunday morning before my mom made me go to church
Yup. I remember mornings like that. Good times.
Man this show and recess were my childhood tv shows and I do miss seeing them on tv I wish they did reunion movies on theme showing them all grown up.
Omg the nostalgia. I'm freaking out right now! Hahah
It’s the year 2000 & I’m 8 years old again 😌😌😌 that’s how this brings me back
THIS SHOW WAS LEGENDARY!!!!!!
this! I loved this show so much ! I loved Lor, she was my favorite lol
my childhood at its finest. 90's and early 2000s had the best cartoons, Now all these new cartoons are garbage
Yeah it's funny cuz I made fun of my parents for having "stupid shows when they were young" but they say mine were stupid, and I swear adventure time is the dumbest show to ever exist lol
+Dwight Robinson bruhh tell me about it, adventure time is Hella wack these new cartoons ain't got shit on the orginal cartoons
Im also from 90s but today there are also good cartoons like regular show, gravity falls, etc. But yes 90's and 2000's were the best
This show needs to be on Disney+!
Holy shit I just realized, at 30 years old, that my hairstyle is pretty much like Carver's. And when I was little and watching this, I distinctly remember wanting his hairstyle but didn't know how to achieve it back then. Fuck.
😂 and now if someone asked you why is your hair the way it is, you can show them this cartoon
I wish cartoons where this awesome nowadays. I grew up on KP, Weekenders, and older ones like Ducktails and Aladin.
