Wow!! I was the seller of the Luminous which i had graded and gotten the 10 back in June and broke the record. I can't believe it sold for another 2k more. Congrats to the seller, you rocked it. We are all a happy community here, i had bought the card raw for 400 and popped it off for 5500 and you sir topped it with another 2k. Love this game, love channel and love my Jordans
The great thing about that psa 10 power in the key is psa has a grading guarantee so if something was missed on that it can be questioned and if found it was over graded the buyer is compensated. Not every grading company has that guarantee that which like it or not, also among other issues, has led to a divergence to psa. With card values what they are today there’s something to be said about those companies that back their products.
Beckett being twice as hard to gem on the power in the key tells a major story that nobody wants to talk about. And it’s a story about cracking to cross down now. By the way clearly someone had some favor at PSA when that power in the key got a 10 because I have Jordan’s right now with PSA 8 label that look much better than that 10. But what can you do I guess it’s just the game we play.
Damn, seeing that MJ Power in the Key PSA 10 made me even more upset over the one I sent in getting an 8 when I thought it was a 9. If you put the one I had next to that and had to pick an 8 and a 10 I think most would get them wrong lol
I tried bidding first time on fanatics and I don't know why the bids kept extending making it harder to win at a good deal. I like how ebay does there bids more fun
ok, which MJ do I buy! Bombadiers, Shooting Stars Sparkle or the iconic scoring kings? I’m buying raw and chancing grade! All listed options available look solid 8 or better
Hey Cajun, with the new Topps unlicensed stuff gaining popularity - are there any big unlicensed sets from the 90s that have held value? I'm guessing no since they were more flexible with the licensing back then... not sure though
Topps chrome unlicensed is not gaining popularity, it is simply popular, and it is simply temporary. I can’t think of a worse product to be purchasing right now and to the best of my knowledge there has never been a set that is unlicensed that has turned out well or outperformed a comparable licensed set. Topps chrome will be no different.
Comparing card values (or any other collectible) during the insanity of the pandemic times to their values today is a fool's game. Circumstances then were completely different.
Why is it a fools game? Circumstances two years from now will be completely different than today also. Circumstances don’t stay the same throughout history. Ever never have never will. There are many many cards which are more valuable today than they were during the pandemic.
@@cajuncardboard During the pandemic the government was giving out free money, many businesses were closed and travel was restricted so most people had idle time on their hands with more money to spend on collectibles. Investors/flippers drove up the prices of collectibles and people were dumb enough to buy at historical prices. You only need to look at graphs of various collectibles to see prices skyrocket starting early in 2020 and then plummet the last couple of years. You yourself admitted in a separate post you could have sold your 86 Fleer Jordan at a ridiculously high price back then but quite lower now. Remember writing this?: "Or if I’d have just sold the 86 fleer 10 when it was $800k+"
Most of this stuff is simply overprinted with artifical scarcity sprinkled in from yours truly...PSA and card manufacturers. Items like the Bird and Magic rookie was printed a ton. Theres alot of supply of that card, and supply is simply beginning to outweigh demand. Arguments can be made that the same thing will happen with the 1986 Fleer Jordan. Theres also arguments to be made that not even the PMG cards are that rare, simply because its bascially the same card image as used on the base version. Therefore, theres nothing really that much more special about a PMG, unless your favorite colors are green or red with a serial number stamped on it.
@@cajuncardboard As for PMG, if you disagree, go look at the base card. It's the same exact image, with just a different design. It's artificial scarcity from card manufacturers.
I can also argue that the "tier 1" 1997 embossed finest refractor Jordan isn't that rare. There's base Topps Finest versions of that same card in both die-cut and regular form. In my opinion, it's extremely hard justifying paying five-figures for the same card that I can buy for a fraction at just three-figures. There's no denying that these are basically the same cards.
this is just how the world works. Rich people will pay a lot for the rarest and best versions of things. Rare cars experience the same exact premiums on their price. Porsches, ferraris, etc can all have 10x multipliers in price if it's a rare color or trim
@@MikeyCards True, but again, that plays back into that artificial scarcity trend. It's just amazing to me that people pay such premiums on items that are basically the same thing. Yet, look at items like your 35 MM photo slides or many original photos; they do not experience the same premiums, despite many potentially being 1/1.

Oh wow!
We when some and we loose some but in this case sounds like a win win. I bet you couldn’t believe when it popped.
@BigDirtDawg Yep. My 1st ever PSA upcharge and it was delightful 😊

Undervalued historical artifacts. Good to see.

Most large auction houses have extended bidding to insure fairness and no sniping.

Hahaha some great options there Walsh! Buy the one you think looks best and you can’t go wrong.
Thanks for the recap !
You bet!
The Duncan BAMS kicked my butt last night too LoL
100 on the 93 Power in the Key not being a PSA 10...wow. Not good.
Absolutely, i've graded a few Jordan 'Power in the Key' cards, and by today's standards, they wouldn't have scored a 10. Maybe a 7 or 8? Who knows.
