Well now I've heard blob of annihilation and I can't not get this
I don’t know if that has anything to do with a sphere of annihilation and I don’t think I want to know.
@@talongreenlee7704 i think it's just a giant ooze
Really glad to hear of higher cr types. Always wanted a higher tier plant monster
I hope lower celestials monsters, for evil and heresy campaign
So hyped on expanded NPC lists
Why abandon the Portuguese translation? We are an active community, I personally have been playing for over 20 years and I can't understand, if the printed version is not possible, why not only make it available in the digital version? I hope that the new direction will bring back D&D to Brazil and all other countries that use the Portuguese language
Polish case is the same.
The Pinkertons should have their own stat block
Interested to see the new Tarrasque.
I am rabid for more information
i hope some of these monsters have more specific weapon-type weaknesses and resistances to make choosing weapons necessary
they'd have to also get rid of magic weapons bypassing that across the board too.
I think D&D needs an official tool to convert any existing statblock to other CRs. That would be very helpful for me as a DM. I agreed with their point that some monsters in the 2014 manual didn't live up to their CR.
Yeah I agree
One thing that I hope for either in the new DMG or the MM is a concrete example on how to combine statblocks one on how to add blocks together such as a Fiend Warlock and a Gnoll, and an example on adding Species traits to an NPC statblock.
This is the book I’m most excited for out of the core three.
I really hope that this means high level play (levels 10-20) is more viable by making the monsters actually challenging for the PCs at the levels they say they are. The cr system will never be perfect but it straight up doesn't work in higher levels
Expanded NPC list is definitely something that I am super interested in.
Yes man its sucks just having to revamp the gladiator stat block anytime i wanna use a somewhat useful npc
@@starwatcher9661exactly
Blob of Annihilation! Sounds great.
Sounds like lots of good stuff. I hope the CR issues are address 1-20. For my group of experienced dnd players from the 80s... They usually walk over many of my encounters when they should be extremely tough based on CR. It would be nice to see base versions and elite versions of each monster like pathfinder does. I find dnd to be more for players on easy mode. I find pathfinder is geared more for DM/GMs making it easier to run games and tougher for characters to survive.
Great!! NPC´s bestiary much like the one in Pathfinder 2e GM Guide. Good to hear WotC are taking notes on what is a quality of life mechanics from other systems
Hope they bring back the templates they used to have in things like Pathfinder where you can overlay new things to increase or decrease CR by a few levels. I loved those things.
I hope the book is organised in some better way than just alphabetical like the last one. Chapters for types organised by CR would make it so much easier to find stuff rather than having to scour opposite ends of the book to find 2 undead creatures
Great news, guys! We get to spend MORE to imagine LESS! 🙄
Embrace the magic of creation. Reject the cycle of consumption.
I really hope they included better transformation mechanics for things like vampires and lycanthropes. That would be a perfect way to add even more quality of life to this edition!
so dumb, already in 80s you could level up any monster in many systems.
Tell me all about the yuan-ti pronouns.
D&D National Pokédex edition. Take my money 😂
I thought the scariest elementals were stuff like Phoenix, Leviathan, Zaratan, and Tempest
OSR was easy. you can make any creature higher quite quickly. didn't need to wait for Wizards to do it for you.
meh . i already own MM and expanded . this is nothing crazy wild awesome . just money grab with some changed rulesets in other core books . only things worth anything were already introduced a bit in tashas . wont be purchasing any new material .
я надеюсь будет больше Лорных и прочих индивидуальных особенностей про каждого монстра и расу ! а не тупо копирование прошлых редакций >_>
Could have given us an example to show us how you've updated and changed a basic monster..😢
I am really hyped for this but won't be preordering going to be buying the books from my LGS
Fey? More fey?
How about adding a ranged attack to the Tarrasque? You know. The basics.
i hope they played around with the CR formula enough so the MM And the DMG match appropriately.
Will we get a "harvesting" for each monster, so we know what components we can get from each to create Magic Items?
01. Yes newer monsters, Lower and higher CR. YES yes yes Y.E.S.
02. NPC stat blocks yes yes yes give me more.
03. Did he say pirate?????
04. I really hope they have some good extra abilities that you can just add to a monster or NPC. That would be amazing.
05. Arch Hag.......I'm listening
06. Elementals.....cool.
07. I hear what they are saying but I hope it works out well and is actually good in game play. To many times have they said things and then in actual play they suck. Like Vecna. Vecna almost got one shotted in a one shot we were playing with him in it.
I really hope it is better and that higher level is easier to run and DM with all these changes. Fingers crossed everyone
So what will happen to the playable character species in Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse? Will we say goodbye to them with the release of these new editions, or will they appear in Monster Manual 2024?
There's info to use them in the 2024 rules. So all 2014 stuff will work in the 2024 stuff. The 2024 stuff won't work on the 2014 stuff.
@@giantevilpandas Thank you very much for the information, I am very glad that all those playable character types will not be wasted and they will be edited in the 2024 revisions.
I think the only change you need to make is to remove the ability modifiers since they have moved to backgrounds.
Seems promising !
Giffs with shotguns and pistols.
We need that as options.
I want that.
It looks good but I find it just too complicated to play
I do hope they bring back some monsters from previous editions. Cryo and Pyro Hydras, ice toads, scrags, aquatic oozes.
Arch-Hag means me buying it
They mentioned an Elemental Titan, but what about the Elder Elementals? They fit the bill already.
What other vampire types are there?
My lord it's almost here
excited both about the half-vamps and the uber gelatinous blob!
APEX VAMPIRE
This sounds awesome, one thing I always thought was odd with Dragons in D&D was the lack of spellcasting. I always thought they should be innate spellcaster and should be slinging around fireballs and whatnot with the same ease as their claw attacks and breath weapons. I wonder if you have added spellcasting to them at all?
i hope there is a high cr beholder
I really hope they give the Tarrasque a ranged attack and more passive traits like its regeneration trait from previous editions. Maybe even some Mythic Actions to boot
Still sounds broken, time will tell.
Hoping cr is adjusted
Well, they adjusted monsters to better fit intended CR
@@SortKaffe well that’s a relief
If there were handy tables on the inside cover of the MM, what would would people want to go there?
So…
WE CAN DO PACIFIC RIM???
I don’t care what they say, but you certainly have my permission!
Wait why are we skipping the monk and sorcerer?
Awesome!
Here’s hoping that eventually we move towards a system for moral ambiguity so that no creature or race is inherently evil.
I hope the challenge ratings are right in this new book.
Minsc right there on the cover!!! And even Boo too!
So is this an optional book or do you all three in order to use it?
The only new book im interested
Okay look. Buzz words like "rebuilt from the ground up " are starting to annoy me. Also. Stop tbinking more more more ...is better better better. Every interview these guys give is filled with this. Stop it. Focus on quality not quantity
D&D employes have becoum liberal activist or are liberal activist with the goal to change everything in D&D just becous it was created by white people and it's to Eurcentric for them,in other words too white...Antiwhiteism has gotten hold on the company.
@@josuesepulveda6850 Nobody cares about your politics and agenda here my guy , nobody normal talks like this without being purely in a chokehold by people who are right wing activists too which clearly you guys think dont exist
Yeah but how do they play?
I hope the Oblex is in this; it deserves to be
This got me so hyped 💫
Awesome! DM’s appreciate this so much!
Ehhhhhhhhh. I think imma pass
this doesn't make monsters more exciting, it's just more variety of boring monsters... I'll stick to making my own monsters.
Hater alert 🚨
If you're not a DM you need to leave!
No peeking!
But I'm a DM and a player. I'm truly cursed ; w ;
@@Snowie7826 Then only one eye can look. Use your DM's eye.
No table of D&D follows the dungeon master guide rules on page 76 (or whatever) that state 6-8 medium fights per long rest with 2 short rests breaking those up. The core mechanic in the game is the rest mechanic and how many fights you get between each type of rest. That's what determines resources available per fight. This changes the balance/value of every class ability, racial ability, feat, spell, and item ability that recharges on short or long rest. In turn, this dramatically changes the balance of every single monster in the game.
You want me to buy a new set of book and a new monster manual.
Have you "fixed" this to match how people are actually using your game, or made allowances for it?
Every single major D&D channel has complained about the balance of the game. Every team with a stream about D&D. Every channel that does D&D content ... they all tend to play roughly 1-3 fights per long rest (instead of 6-8) and ... unsurprisingly ... that wildly changes the value of things. If you're supposed to have 3 rages per day and you have 6-8 fights ... that's obviously wildly different than if you have 3 rages for 3 fights. You have like 8 levels of warlock with 2-4 spells per day (zero to one short rests per day) instead of having roughly 6 spells for 6-8 fights which would compare really evenly with ... bard/cleric/druid/wizard/sorcerer having roughly the same number of spells per 6-8 fights. This obviously means that the way people chose to modify the rules significantly weakens classes like warlock. And if characters have a totally different number of resources the challenge of those monsters will be WILDLY different.
So, is this more of the same where the way people chose to play the game ... the challenge rating in the monster manual you want me to buy is ... at best ... a basic guideline?
(dungeon dudes, XP to 3, nerdarchy, D4, dimension20, critical role ....... on and on it goes ... most of them don't understand game design, even the ones who've published books .. and most of them don't actually understand how the resting is changing things .... that statement is based on how those channels have spoken about the 5E balance issues ... the BOOK needs to account for this stuff even if it's the fault of the customers making the game their own and not following rules then being surprised when things are broken ... as a side note I've played through several Wizards of the Coast modules and those CERTAINLY don't play out like the players are supposed to do 6-8 fights per day)
You do know we are getting a new DMG too with new encounter building.
@@Envyus1 And, I also know the components are basically mix and match.
The question still stands ... there are significant balance issues with the way most people play the game.
I'm asking if those things are being addressed.
@@zero11010 if there was such a thing called homebrew where you can change the game in the ways you like to play that would be amazing.
...
Oh wait
@@Philosufical no issues with people changing things. Lots of issues with people changing things and ruining the balance of the game without understanding what they’re doing. The vast majority of homebrew is garbage (in terms of balance). As in my example.
You want to do one fight per long rest for your whole campaign? Cool. Are you aware of how that ruins the warlock in your party, and the other impacts? Are you going to whine and complain about monster CR not working, too? Because these are the things that happen. 10 years of a clear pattern from players.
They have changed the Warlock and Monk (short rest classes) so that they can use their features more often.
Boycott WotC.
Did you fix the Tarrasque so that a level 1 character that can fly can't just fly up above it and kill it?
why would they fix a complete obscure scenario
@TheOriginalDogLP I used a level 1 to make a point. This is supposed to be the scariest monster in all of dnd, but if you are a ranged attacker, it can't do anything. Try putting it up against a party that can do ranged attacks. And but the time they are facing it, flight shouldn't be a problem. It can only damage melee opponents or reflect low level spells. It's literally not a cr 30 monster.
If that's a problem, your DM is letting you win. The thing is Huge with 30 (godlike) Str and Siege. Think about what that means.
@@trise2033 I mean, if one of the most powerful creatures in the game cannot touch a flying character isn't it a problem?
Specially if your DM have to change the statblock to solve this
@@trise2033 You mean it can throw things? By the rules of the game it wouldn't be any good with it even with 30 STR. The 4e Tarrasque had Earthbind for a reason.
So glad I finally quit playing D&D this year. I sold most of it on my garage sale. The rest of the material that didn't sell is going to be celebrated by having a WOTC BOOK BURNING in my back yard. Come over, bring your WOTC trash over to help fuel the fire and we can cook hotdogs, marshmallows, and make smore's while the WOTC books burn.
To each their own. My group is coming back to dnd after a couple of years of DCC. I'm not happy with some wotc/Hasbro business decisions, but I'm not so unhappy as to wish all the creatives lost their jobs. And, we still enjoy the game.
What does wotc stands for ?
And they're gonna make them all weaker, especially spellcasters, and dumb down the lore while they're at it.
Sadly, yes. They let themselves be browbeat into this mentality, by both their audience and their own upper management 😔
