I have heard several rumours about this song and the lyrics could match them all. 1. To the fans - completely agree about the connection he and BIGBANG have with the fans. He/they always appreciate them and recognise that they would not have had the opportunities in their careers without them - and performing is, imo, in their heart and soul. 2. To an ex (Kiko) or maybe all ex's and unrequited loves - as he wants there to be a special someone for him. In their 10th anniversary year, they looked ahead 5 years and he hoped to be married with a child. 3. To himself - The whole album is about him - Kwon Ji-yong - and re-finding himself behind G Dragon. The numbers of his birthdate add up to 2014. His birthdate always seems to be significant to him (born in the year of the double dragon I think, that only happens once about every 300 hundred years - and his name "yong" means dragon.) I feel that, although he may have personal reasons connected to a song, that he writes things on purpose so that the listener can interpret it in their own way. I say this as someone thay loves viewing art and the paintings (like GD's songs) connect with me on a very personal level. I often visit galleries and exhibitions with 2 friends and we often see the same paintings differently - so we help each other see different aspects too. Like listening to your reactions :)

Another theory is that this song is written by G-dragon for Kwon jiyong, GD's birthday is 1988+08+18=2014, , he hopes to use everything and even life to return to the original kwon jiyong, Who knows, open-ended answers are the most charming. In short, this song came out for the first time, and I cried when I heard it without knowing the lyrics. After seeing the lyrics, I cried even harder. This is a good song that can touch people's hearts.❤

And this is from his self named album, Kwon Ji Yong, which from my perspective is an album showcasing his other side, not the swaggy, celebrity G-Dragon, but the man himself, Kwon Ji Yong. That is why I believe his songs on this album were more personal and more emotional.
Definitely makes sense. There have been several viewers that agree that this album was about Kwon Ji Yong, rather than GD. It's incredible to see so many sides of this legend 🤩
I find it funny that every idol is labeled an "artist" when very few actually create like GD does and that's strictly in music and not his other artistic ventures.
No body knows exactly until this day what events or if it was about a gf of his. From my understanding that this song was written in 2014, but he decided to release it in 2017 because it fits the situation that he and Bigbang members was in. So, the feeling of the song was during 2014. If I can recall correctly, there were many videos or pictures of him hanging out with Kiko openly. There were so much negatives from that even though he had never spoke up about it personally. But, who would dear to ask him directly even in that time. I think YG denied it. Some fans weren't happy, they thought that she wasn't right for him(crazy fans). Anyways, it really doesn't matter who it was about. I felt like hugging this man after listening to him and seeing him perform. This is the drained GD, I had enough GD. The human GD, it's sad that some fans forget that these idols are human.
