my ma se familie bly in kaapstad n my pa is from england, grew up here in london... bro his accent is so bad it made me laugh, corny as hell, knowing he can do better on this beat makes it frustrating. still waiting for a real cpt/ldn link up cos this is not it
I think the accent-switch suppose to fit with the theme of the song. Being that Bennie worked in the UK thus making him "classy" but then brings it back with the Kaapstad accent bc that's where he's originally from. So if you look at it just as a song - just as a song and no other biases of what he suppose to perpetuate - then it's creative, different and pretty cool. However, the accent does sound forced. Maybe if had gotten someone from UK to do just that part of the song, this might've been better received.
He's comparing Benni to AKA and also to himself. In multiple different parts. Its a layered song. I appreciate the accent switch up. If you were in CPT then you would know what the mood is over here especially after AKA's death. Die mense really appreciate this track. The video is dope. AKA's death also had a big effect on Yaatie. No one in SA Hip hop is currently on his level. Not even Cassper.
Ou boet… there are many people better than him. Again, stop saying if I was in Cape town. Have you actually seen the response on social media regarding the accent. Its not needed. Its been a problem in cape town for years. Few people use their own accent and are authentic with what they do. Therefore I dont like it. The accent part. Watch the first drill nimber he did. I THINK TEKKERS OR something. He did an accent there too. Nasty C. For one. I like his work ethic and I will celebrate his success, but it does not mean that if I dont like something I must say its nice you know? Ek skellie ek praat.
