You have made a couple of mistakes 1) In the question, variance is given as 10.24. To find the value, you use Standard Deviation, not the variance. So, you should have taken the square root of 10.24, which is 3.2 2) Since level of significance is 5%, it is 2.5% on each side as it is a two-tailed hypothesis Z value would be: (6.2 - 5.4)/(3.2/sqrt(50)). This is coming as 1.77. As per your method, it would have been only 0.55 Since this is 2 tailed hypothesis, we have to look up the Z value for the probability of 97.5% (not 95%) on the right hand side, which is 1.96. If we look up 5% on both sides, it would have been 95% i.e. 1.645, not 1.96 Your answer is correct as you are getting correct pre-calculated values in the background but the methodology is wrong and using your calculations would give different numbers.

13:45: S.D of the population = UnderRoot(Variance). Since the value 10.24 is the variance, it's underRoot has to be taken and that would be 3.2. Only then the final Z value will be 1.77. Please Take Note!

Variance = 10.24 given means sigma( standard deviation) is square root of variance = 3.2 and this is sample standard deviation, not a population standard deviation, so ee have to find out t- test statistics.
If level of significance is 5% then u should have to take 95% of level of confidence in one tail test And if u r doing two tail test then u should take alpha take 2.5 % i.e. 0.025 at both end
Earlier I found the topic difficult.. now it's both confusing and difficult.. Sign of standard derivation is sigma.. variance is represented as sigma^2. Also, when you said that null hypothesis is when H• = 0.05.. then why was it accepted??
He said that we assume it is true that's why he wrote H.=0.05% . So In order to test whether this is true he put the values in the formula and got 1.77 then as he said earlier that the level of significance is 0.05 so he marked it on the graph and found its value from the table which is 1.96 and since 1.77 is not greater than 1.96 and is less than it(can even be equal to it) he accepted the null hypothesis. So this shows that H.=0.05 is true.
great explanation 👍 Just the z- score of 0.05 confidence is 1.64 So 177> 164 Therefore, Null Hypothesis is not accepted. (I am not that sure just confirming)
Presentation was very nice But Please correct Point 1. Variance is square of std deviation (std written as variance in demo) . Point 2. 1.96 of bell curve represent 0.95 on either side. Also 5 % is for two tail is equally devided on both side hence should be 2.5 % (except if it is a one tail method is used).
No problem it is human to err, you are doing good but only thing i recommend is do your pre video homework diligently, normally little mistakes happen but that must not discourage you. I m statistics teacher myself from Pakistan. Bravo keep it up
In the question you were given variance which is sigma square and you used it as Standard Deviation(sigma). The value of Z you calculated was 1.77 then you changed it to 1.96
in the question solved in the video, variance was given but we need to consider standard deviation in the formula so what is shown was wrong still the answer is correct because he directly wrote the answer without calculating . But the explanation helped me Thank you for that .
Bro, if the p-value is less than the significance level, then the null hypothesis is rejected, not accepted...if it is above the significance level, then the null hypothesis is not rejected. Don't provide misleading information!!!
