Awesome! I tell ya, the KLR is the first bike I've owned where I changed my own tires.....and....I got in a hurry on the first one, didn't check the direction, did the front and looked, but didn't see the arrow, so I basically changed them twice in the same day.

I've had my fair share of problems as well. I can't tell you how many times I put parts on backwards.

super great video, so informative, thank you! I am just learning Zen and the art of KLR Motorcycle Maintenance, and found this super accesible.

I've used Dyna Beads to balance several sets of Shinko 244's for my KLR. I used one ounce in the front and two in the rear with IRC heavy duty tubes. Nice demonstration of balancing the traditional way in this video.

I have not used beads, but am interested in trying them out. I wanted to make this as simple as possible.

Thanks for the video. FYI. Good way to ruin a torque wrench is to use it as a breaker bar.

Hey Jeff, thanks for watching. FYI that was not a torque wrench. It was a harbor freight 1/2 drive ratchet with the extending handle. Highly recommend you checking it out.

Just did my rear and popped the tube (in 3 places!!)..Did the same thing last year when I changed tires. Luckily I had a spare on hand and was more carful the second time, I also used the backside of the tire irons, so it couldn't get that little snakebite pinch. Know how ya feel!

It is the most frustrating part of working on bikes. I hate tires in general.

Do you have a video about how to get started in powder coating? Like a tips and tricks for beginners?

I have a few powder coating vids, but a beginner "how to" is a great idea. I will try to get one out this weekend.

Tried doing this with Shinko 705 without heating it up and I pinched the tube and couldn't even come close to getting the last side of the tire on the wheel haha

i put a kenda adot knobby on the front balanced it no problem.i paid the local kawasaki dealer a few months before to install a mitchlin adot knobby in the rear.i wonderd if they balanced it? there were no weights on the rim and i suspected they didnt i was right so i balanced it and now i cant get it back on the disc brake pad holder is stuck on the disc brake braket holder those two allen head bolts are like welded on there like someone used some super lock tight on them i about half stripped the hex head bolts i put some heat with a plummers torch but i dont think i got it hot enough would a cutting torch get it to hot and warp the alloy bracket i know the bracket is a 104 dollars if i mess it up or should try drilling the two hex head bolts out its a 2004 klr 650 some one please give me advise thanks

Holy crap, sounds like you are in a mess. Honestly not sure what the best move is. I wouldnt recommend a torch as the aluminum could crack. You may have to drill out the old bolts. Best of luck, it is beyond my basic skills. Sorry.

I'm sure you have it fixed by now, but ... You have your spacers backwards. I know this is a year ago, but that just happened to me, and I watched this video, and sure enough, the big one goes on the right side. If you put the big one on the left, with the small spacer on the right, the brake caliper holder hit the disk. Hope this helps someone. It is good to put things on backwards sometimes ... just so life isn't so easy!
