Eds Finest rhythm guitar work in the catalog! Wrote the same day as Sweet Home, Talk About a HOME RUN!
Well done Scott as always!
Thank you for watching, Tom! Instructional on this one soon. Rhythm and solos. 👌🏼
@@seraines Cannot Wait!
Clearly Ed’s fine work so intrigue and the effects. If I’m not mistaken Allen played lead on this one. 🕊️
@@Just762mm Allen and Gary play most of the lead’s together. The outro sustain solo is just Gary. He hit that A note ONCE and just it sustain. Genius!
@@RockFan98 makes sense tone is definitely different on the outro think it’s all about 3:50 in the song
Buddy I am 60 years old now and was born and raised on the west side of Jacksonville and me and a lot of my friends I grew up with got into playing music because skynyrd were our heros. And alot of really good musicians on the West Side and in Jacksonville in general .I want you to know that you are such a blessing to so many people. I would have killed to have been able to see your videos when we spent forever learning a song. Lol Thank you so much for what you do.
Thank you for watching! 🙏🏼
I lived in Orange Park for a summer just out of high school (Slocomb, AL). I was rubbing elbows with a lot of those guys.
Westsider here, too. We all knew the Skynyrd boys were special. Just a kid but they motivated me to learn guitar. Always a joy to pick up my guitar and play a Skynyrd song.
I am 57 years old, I am from Poland and I first heard LS in 1980. Since then I fell in love with this music. Lynyrd Skynyrd, next to The Allman Brothers Band, are my two favorite bands. Years pass and the love is still alive. Just like you, we spent days working out one song and today thanks to Scott's films I see how many mistakes we made. But playing together with friends is an indescribable feeling.
Hey Scott you are my biggest hope and helping hand to keep on learning so someday i can play all the somgs the right way. I saw skynyrd 1991 in germany in Augsburg ( near munich) , was 17 years old, standing in the front row, holding a big poster with ronnie on it... so gary came over, asked if he can show it to the crowd, and everybody was screaming loud, had shivers all over and gary came back with a bottle of whiskey and i took a deep gulp, later they played free bird and johnny held the poster up in the air again. Thx for what you do!!!👍👍👍👍👍
This is my all time favorite Skynyrd song. You play these songs just as good as Ed, Allen, and Gary. Thank you for posting! 🙏
Thank you for watching!
I never heard it until I saw the Marty Swartz interview. Deff my fav Skynyrd song. It's haunting and melodic, incredible...
@@cr2fabrication It's a gem of a song; so soulful.
My favorite song. The way a strat should sound. Great Job. I love the tone of Ed’s strat in this song.
Totally agree
Wow. One of my all time favorites. Thank goodness theres RUclips for us insomniacs. Thanks from Cherokee N.C.
Best Southern Rock Band Ever!
That tone! 😮 Awesome cover.
Everything about this song is awesome! Love that EK rhythm work....its spot on!
Wow -- goosebumps! What an absolute masterclass of rhythm guitar playing, Scott!
Insane work here. Perfect rendition of Ed’s rhythm work on this number. I am grateful for this video brother - excellent cover.
Thank you for watching!
I love this song. ❤️ Greetings from Poland! "Pole by birth, Southern by the grace of God!
Thank you for watching!
I'm 63 & Lyndyrd Skynyrd was my first concert at Waterbury Palace! It was with Foghat! I still have a bulletin board with all my concert tickets on it!! Lynyrd Skynyrd will ALWAYS BE MY FAVORITE!💯☝️🎶🎸🎤🎸🌟
Good stuff Scott RIP Mr King
Waiting for you to cover this. Another of Ed’s masterpiece.
Scott, great lessons on the best songs ever… I would to love to meet you when APB comes to Cedar Park Texas
Randy
I look forward to meeting you. We do meet & greets after our shows.
Dang right on que with me learning it through Tommy streetcar, nice!
Thank you Scott I have been working on that song for around 40 years. I’m trying to do all of the guitar parts but that was my favorite to learn. 🤘🏻
Good stuff nicely done brother!
great song! Great playing! There's a video of Ed King doing the rhythm over the second solo, you can check it out, it's nice to see it from the source
APB, Scott, and Jerry are the REAL Deal. Go see the APB. I have.
Ed king could play both full of soul and genius, thanks a lot Scott I'm sure he's grateful
Beautifully done brother! 🎸👏🏻
Nice Job...Good Learning For Me. Thanks
The first couple of seconds I could tell you are a musician! Your sense of timing is superb everything is done in time even your slight hand movements which is really inspirational!
Thank you! 🙏🏼
I have always loved this song , my band never worked it up. Excellent tutorial, Scott
Yay!!!! ❤
Hi Sharon!!! 🤗
I get goosebumps from this @&$%. 🔥🤘🎸
The guitar work on this song is a master piece and Ronnies voice is second to none. I say this is one of my favorites, but I say that about so many Skynyrd songs. But is is truly a Skynyrd classic. Were has 50 years gone?
incredible. quite possibly the best skynyrd song ever
One of the best songs ever
Agree!
Thank you 😊
Super!
Thanks Scott!
Killer playing, love the strat quack! I just picked up a G&L Legacy just for that sound. Now I just have to learn how to play it..
Good en Scott! Sweet lil strat!
Love it!!!
Nice touch Scott!
Great job as always Scott! Looking forward to the accompanying breakdown video.
Funny story about this song, for me anyway.
As a teenager, learning to play this music in the early 2000’s, I bought this on CD “Second Helping” for all the other songs except this one. Every time, I’d skip this one. I guess at the time, I couldn’t grasp the concept and the layers/textures of this song and what it means.
One day I think it was in 2018, possibly after Ed passed, I was listening again and this time I didn’t skip it. I immediately recognized Ed’s wonderful tone and trademark percussive playing. I sat there mesmerized by that tone, and the twin leads Gary and Allen were doing. I asked myself, “what was I thinking skipping this song all these years??!!”
Needless to say, it’s now one of my absolute favorites, and I really appreciate you taking the time to play it right and do it justice. Great job!
Ed was very proud of this one!
Awesome. Thanks for sharing this video.
Skynyrd’s finest ballad.
THANK YOU SCOTT!! Such tasteful touch & tone.. what a joy is to watch & learn from you.
I've personally been waiting & requesting this one for a while... in my humble opinion, one of Ed's finest songs & a terribly underrated one as well.
I'm sure an instructional is coming soon... I'd love for you to really cover all the little arrangements/embellishments throughout the song - I believe those are what really make this song shine !
Thank you again, well done!!
Instructional in the works. Thank you!
@@seraines Yes...cannot wait..... There's a lot goin on here.....of course , Scott will make it happen ---- like no one else can....👍
Thank you :)
👍🏼
So good!
Incredible.
Wow.
Man I LOVE what you're doing ❤ it's really hard to explain how I feel every time I see one of your videos comin' !
Thank so so much Scott 💓
That means a lot. Thank you!
Yes sir!
Great song.
Ed King was Tremendous.
Hope one day The APB will rip this # out.
Awesome job Sir!
Thank you 🙏🏼
Such a cool song. I was 8 years old when this song came out and it's stood the test of time a lot better than I have haha You do an amazing job with this and all Skynyrd songs. I love your dedication to not only play my all-time favorite band's music, but to play it right.
By the way, I finally learned to play On the Hunt all the way through. My guitar teacher moved away in December, so I've kinda stalled out but hoping to get back at it again soon.
Hoping to see the APB out my way somewhere soon! My wife and I love coming to see you guys.
Great to hear from you, Ken. That’s great news about Hunt. Keep woodsheddin! 💪🏼
hey great to see another video from you man!
Man , you are the best...great job...one of my very favorite songs by them,,,...waltz beat actually....nice man
Exceptional, Scott.
Agree
Spot on, as usual! Much love and respect APB. And many many thanks Scott! Hope see yous in Effingham again soon! Stay healthy yall.
Wow... 😳 No words... Just amazing.. And the end little impro chords... Thank you so much for this! Think I will get it right from this now.. I HIGHLY appreciate your effort of putting this great tune out! Thank you so much! 🙏🙏🙏🙏
If you are still taking request id love to see you break down "right or wrong"
Sounds amazing.
Perfetto…!! Bravo
Alright brother!!! GREAT song. Great feel and tone Scott. Just a relief to hear some nice, "mature" guitar work. Love the tone balance between the Fender and the Gibson on this one. One of my favorite Skynyrd songs. Up there with "Cry for the Bad Man" (Gary lays it down on that one). Thanks mam. I needed that lol
Yeah man, those textures were just magic! Thanks for watching.
Ed had an interesting way of sneaking little licks between vocals and leads. After a lifetime of listening to this song there’s still little things I’ve missed playing it
I find stuff all the time. It’s amazing!
Absolutely love everything about this song. Scott does Allen play lead on this? Just wondering.
Allen and Gary doubled it, like they did a lot of their solos. Simple Man is another one.
awesome!thank you! any chance at a lesson on the solos?
In the works 👍🏼
Scott, you always nail it! The playing and the tone. Question about the tone: Is that Skynyrd crystal clear, awesome clean tone as a result of the strat bridge pickup with a taste of a gain your secret? Or is there something else you can share with us?
I’ll talk about that in the upcoming tutorial video. Thank you!
@@seraines 👍
Hello Scott this is one of my favorite but there are many when it comes to this band. Working the rhythm and solo sections of this wanted to know if there is a slight bit of tremolo effect used on rhythm parts?
There is. I believe I go over that in the tutorial video
Been waiting!
Scott I have never seen a video of 1974 line up of Lynyrd Skynyrd playing this song. Do you know of any videos ?
I’ve never found a live video. I tried to find one.
Been waiting for this one. How do you get that tone?
I’ll cover that in the tutorial. That one is next up.
Sounds like Ed King's part. Not much really going on. Lol
