    Since this post doesn't tell us what music is being performed here, I will tell you now: it's the first movement of Boccherini's Sonata in A Major.

    Really gorgeous playing. The video gives us an idea of what Cassadò was like as an elegant (and apparently relaxed) performer. It's a shame that the audio and the video are slightly out of sync--but hey, it's still a lot better than nothing!

    Interesting tailpiece. Any ideas?

    • @solowcello

      Cassado' did lots of experimenting with cello set-up. This is his tailpiece that incorporated springs to reduce/adjust the tension. I have an LP album cover (I think Ravel Trio with Menuhin and Kentner) that has a better photo.

    Amazing!
    Young players today, take note the LACK of pained facial expressions and thrashing around while playing...

    What's that thing on his bow?

    • @oliverpal1937
      @oliverpal1937 5 лет назад +3

      a piece of cork

    • @paufeu333
      @paufeu333 3 года назад +1

      Cassadó's bow has a piece of cork attached to the side of the frog where the fingers fall, so that his hand is more open and his fingers less curved.
