I was at the Tesla store at Century City Westfield mall 2 weeks ago...and Elon was there with his family. Stupid me, I didn't know who he was until he had left and a lady behind us was gawking excitedly to the Tesla salesperson about him... It's like being an Apple fanboy and not knowing who Steve Jobs was.... I'm a fool....

I love how he says Tesla will never make a bad product even if it makes them money. Too many companies make pieces of shit just because it can get some profit.

Recently I've noticed how most recently established car companies have gone down the drain, but Tesla, despite its financial problems in its development stages, has kept up real well. I always trusted in Tesla, and once I am wealthy enough to buy a Model S or once Tesla begins making some smaller, more affordable cars, I'm buying one even though its not the usual petrol engine that I prefer. Tesla is brilliant.
This reporter's questions were among the best I've heard asked of Elon. Great interview.

Mid or short range electric vehicles can work once a supercharger network proliferates, so that people can stop to refuel as needed.
I feel Tesla should have a coupe version of the Model S to come out shortly after the Model X is available. Also, why no option for a rear seat with an armrest and cup holders? If the Model X does pass production with Falcon Wing doors, Tesla should make a version with normal doors for those who need roof racks. Also, they should come out with more interior and exterior colors, and soon. This variety can help ensure orders stay full before their lower cost, high volume car. Great product.
Go check out the Tesla Model S on their website. Their charging stations charge your Tesla for free, but you can also pay some money and have the battery swapped for a fully charged battery. That battery swap takes so little time you can switch more than two Tesla Model S batteries in the time it takes to fill a gasoline car with gasoline.
New technology is always riskier because it would require a lot of regulating and installing new chargers throughout the country, which would cost a lot of money. The government is fully aware of the environmental issues pertaining to pollution caused by gas-fueled cars. He is also guaranteeing it because of the financial crisis (2008) that Tesla was facing as many others were. He put in almost all of his personal assets to ensure Tesla's success.

Thank you Elon Musk for personally creating Tesla despite all the risks and completion. Simply because I'm tired of feeling like taking hostage by big oil or in other words being kicked in the balls with no choice.Hopefully one day I could afford one, feeling more empowered to promote green energy while making a change for a cleaner future. Hello,I proposed the quick change battery system where one could just drive into a battery station and switch out a car's battery(ies) in seconds.
This would make having to drag around a huge battery pack for long distances unnecessary and having a smaller battery pack make more room in the vehicle.
I also proposed the charge on the move system where a vehicle would be charged inductively from the roadbed while moving.,

She's actually very good. She may ask a couple of obvious questions, but she's also very critical and doesn't fear asking potentially harmful questions like the part when she says she doesn't buy into the whole part about deducting costs from benefits of an EV. I love what Elon Musk stands for and I love Tesla (in fact I am a stock holder), but stop being such a fanboy and learn to accept that even in everything you love there usually is some flaw.

A lot of people make that comparison. He is actually in Iron Man 2, and the Hammer Tech scenes were shot at his SpaceX building. Interesting bit of trivia.

Ive read " Terms of the program had formerly included the option to sell back the car after 36 months for the same residual value percentage as the Mercedes S Class (after three years the S550 retains a Kelley Blue Book residual value of 47% of its $95,905 sticker price)" since the tesla has hardly any moving parts compared to internal combustion engine car with mufflers etc, value should be higher, but it would be cool to buy a tesla at mercedes resale, specially if its signed by Elon ;)
He will do it, the company just needs to meet its US goals, and start expanding through Canada, but Europe will get its turn!!

That may happen in the long run, but not for a long while because Tesla has brand loyalty, a big head start on product development, and a proven management team. Additionally, investors know that Tesla can deliver, so they will be happy to throw money at the company for shares in Tesla.

Considering that Leafs are $45,000 cheaper than a base Model S, it would make more sense to just rent a car when going on long trips. Tesla should have started their own green rental company.

This guy is an excellent CEO. He wants this company to succeed so much that he is investing a huge portion of his own money in Tesla. And not to mention he is hiring Americans, and all of the benefits of a car with no emissions and no need of foreign oil.
Elon is a true disruptor. He is making waves throughout the Auto industry :)
Because charging standards aren't hard enough, we're going to expect multiple car companies to have identical battery packs. Size. Shape. Voltage. Monitoring and Control. NOT.

why not making adding or removing battery packs easy for the owner....so if they only travel short distances most of the time they could just remove some of the batteries

I think there is an option to go to Tesla and swap the battery. They do that on video faster than refueling gasoline, i forgot the name of video, sorry.
Apparently it only takes 90 secs to change the battery.

So impressed with the car, Elon and the principles this company has applied. We are test driving one tonight. I'm ready to buy. Just need to convince my husband that we don't need to fit a canopy tent for our kids soccer games like we can in our SUV. The supercharge network will make a big difference for the company. We are in Seattle so well positioned for that. The Tesla SUV coming will be very appealing to us.

The car is so simple in terms of moving parts count. What can go wrong? Car design is a well established technology now. It's even made of aluminum. There is nothing to worry about here

The US wants him to unionize the crap out of his company, but he's refusing to do so. That is what America is trying to do to his firm.
