    see the fill at 2:27 is sick, i know what he was going for, but the little double ghost notes, he's releasing the stick and bouncing it off the head, rather than doing 2, seperate deliberate notes, that is literally the only flaw in his playing, everything else is tight. CAN SOMEONE TELL HIM?? thx

    • @darkmatter8
      @darkmatter8 7 лет назад +3

      If he learned how to properly do doubles, his playing would be a good amount better.

    • @furcoat9458
      @furcoat9458 7 лет назад +1

      Rad Seancliffe dude I know, it made me cringe so hard. All of his studio parts with ghost notes are executed exponentially worse live, way less tight

  • @TehSeanRadcliffe
    @TehSeanRadcliffe 7 лет назад +4

    i wish i could meet him just to tell him that when playing doubles on one hand you're not supped to let the stick just bounce off the head, you're supposed to keep it pretty firm in your hand and do two completely DELIBERATE notes, rather than to let go and hope the stick bounces twice in time off the head. i just feel like his ghost notes, or doubles technique isn't to as high of a standard compared to the rest of the stuff he plays. so, not knocking him, just saying, i think people get the wrong idea and think you're supposed to bounce the stick.

    • @TehSeanRadcliffe
      @TehSeanRadcliffe 7 лет назад +4

      alright i don't mean to knock him at all, i acknowledge he's a very good drummer, he uses a single pedal, and plays ambidextrously, switching back and forth between right and left handed, i know he's a good drummer, i just had a criticism, and it's a perfectly valid one. some drummers think that to play a double stroke roll, you bounce the stick off the head and catch the rebound, but that's not the case, you should be able to play doubles on a surface with ZERO rebound, it's not like i'm making fun of him or talking shit, criticism isn't a bad thing, you'll learn that when you grow up.

    • @TehSeanRadcliffe
      @TehSeanRadcliffe 7 лет назад +3

      but he's not getting the same result, that's why i brought this up, i'm not some technique-nazi, i'm not even formally taught on drums, but the doubles are sloppy and somewhat random, like he isn't performing 2 hits, he's pushing the stick into the head and hoping it bounces in time, and of course it doesn't. and, i can do doubles on pillows, you don't need any rebound at all to do a double stroke roll. i mean obviously the bounce helps the stick come up, that's a given, but, it's not needed for the rudiment[when done right] meaning, you actually can do it on loose toms if you want.

    Tyler had the best voice and stagecraft in like 2012-2017 era. A shame they all got boned by their record company on money.. Money ends up making anything good go bad, greed ruins shit way harder than personalities do.

    sloppy

    • @casey_sux
      @casey_sux 7 лет назад +3

      not even slightly, just very jarring and weird patterns

    • @JohnnySuckss
      @JohnnySuckss 7 лет назад +1

      then how come the mars volta and the dillinger escape plan can play 100x more weird and "jarring" rythmic concepts and they don't sound sloppy?
      it's because this drummer is sloppy. he's gotten better over the years, but he's still sloppy.
      this whole song is in common time at common tempo.

    • @casey_sux
      @casey_sux 7 лет назад +1

      completely different styles, has nothing to do with the time sig or the tempo, his feel and his fills and pushes are rly rly weird and in odd places, giving his playing a more natural feeling, if it was super super rigid it wouldn't be as interesting

    • @JohnnySuckss
      @JohnnySuckss 7 лет назад +2

      it's all 8th note based. not very weird. he just focuses on upbeats and plays a lot of triplets. sloppily. and you can't make the 'natural feel' argument when all the drums on their records are perfectly quantized midi samples. i don't think 'natural' is what they're going for. there's a difference between feel and sloppiness.
