Hi Ruth, for this video of encaustic technique with shellac I have used the following products: First I have put a base of medium for encaustic, I do it myself because it is more profitable and I need very large quantities, if you are interested in how to do it, I also have a video ruclips.net/video/KdvBM1HXC2I/видео.html You can also buy it ready made at R&F. On top of this protective base I have put a white encaustic base. You can either buy the colours at R&F or you can make them yourself by mixing the encaustic medium that you have already made according to my recipe with pigments. Once you have this white base you can start painting over it. In this case I used R&F oil sticks. As you will see you have to melt them very gently with a blowtorch so that they are embedded on your white base. If you see that you lose a lot of colour you can put more and repeat the burning process. Now you have a coloured base on which you have to apply the shellac with a brush. You can buy the coloured shellac ready to use or make it yourself. I recommend that you buy it ready-made at first. The colour of the shellac has to be contrasting with the colour you have put on the base, try to use a darker shade or a different shade that matches the one below, otherwise you won't see the contrasts. Once you have applied the shellac let it dry for a few minutes, check that it is dry with your finger. The effects of burning the shellac will depend on the thickness of the shellac and the dryness of the shellac. Also bear in mind that shellac contains alcohol and if it is not very cured it will catch fire. I hope I have been able to help you and that you enjoy your encaustics. Also thank you very much for visiting me on You Tube.
From Switzerland you will have no problem buying from Amazon. This link is for the lacquer in natural colour, but you can order it in the colour you need. www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00F9DJEV4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A23QK95KI2O0RN&psc=1 Or as a starter set www.amazon.de/gp/product/B016OXGFIM/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A23QK95KI2O0RN&psc=1 You can also make your own schellac, but if you're just starting out it's better to buy it ready made because you won't need a lot of it.
What you are introducing here is very important to many painters , kindly don’t get discouraged, keep it on
Thank you!
I wish you would say in the description exactly what you are using!

@@nuriawinkelstroeter6352 thank you so much, I will give it a try. Have a grear day and weekend 😊☀️
Can you use a heat gun with this?
Sure, but with the heat gun you will get bigger holes and you have to be careful that the wax don’t melt to much.
I love this!! 😍
