I’ve got a 1968 Ford 5000. Had trouble tracing the serial #. Turned out to be a British built model built in late 1968 so it had the upgraded larger engine and horsepower. British built ones had the headlights in the grill and better coverage fenders.
Grew up running a 6000 Ford dad brought a new 7000 Ford and traded the 6000 Ford off in 1972 a year or so later he bought a 6000 Ford that he came across so we had a 7000 and 6000 we ran them both I liked the 6000 cause I learned on it but loved the 7000 for the power it had both great tractors
Every time i would vote, It gave me the notion that most of the folks voting were picking the popular vote and had no experience on the tractors. It should say most nostalgic with 9n at number one, because it is far from the best. I loved the tractor info you tell !
Knew the 8N would hit #1. We used to have 2 1952 8Ns side mount distributor (thank the Lord) was running hard with the mower behind it and clutched it and it pushed me through the neighbors fence 😂🤣😅. 2000, 3000, and 4000 were amazing tractors also.
More 8N owners more 8N votes. The Jubilee with live PTO and Red Tiger engine is a substantial improvement over the 8N.I would reverse those on the list and put the 9600 in place of the 9000.
I dig that 960. I've got a '55 860 that I use for everything on my 10 acres. The front seems to push when I'm brush hogging; no front weights kinda explains... Just got a loader bucket and would love to grab a 960 with the tricycle front end for the mowing duties
Thanks. Great video. Some of them surprised me, but I kinda figured the 8N would be around the top. How about a video on the top ten garden tractors. I have three fords, three MF’s and a John Deere. I Would like to have a Case, Cub Cadet, Allis Chalmers
The Ford 6000 At least it was a pretty piece of junk. I often wondered if the sleek styling was designed to cover up all of the mechanical shortcomings.
don't rate the Ford 5600 at all, but the Ford 5610 was a better tractor. Also noticed that there was a picture of an FW-30 when the Fw-60 was being discussed. The FW-30 with an uprated pump was a great tractor for us
I noticed some of the models didn't last but a couple of years. Sometime when you're not doing anything, could you go into detail as to why so many models with short lives? Thanks
Totally disagree with you about the Ford 8N being number 1. I could accept number 2 but not number 1. The number 1 spot should have gone to the Ford 3000. You didn't even mention it. Dude that is the most iconic and sought after tractor to this day! It was the predecessor to what became the compact tractor. There is no use for the Ford 8N any more other then tractor shows. Gas engine and no live PTO is not useful in today's world.
I totally agree with you I didn't think the Ford 8N should be number one but it's not up to me the subscribers to the channel vote and they pick the order that the tractors are in and which tractors get into the countdown to start with and for some reason the Ford 8N one by quite a large margin over everything else
I realy do like the 1700 if u can find one that isent beet to shit every one i see its like last 2 owners used it like they dident care what it looked like i like all the ford on are farm but i could make room for a 1700 we have a few others on the list are 5000 is great tractor i thing its probly to this day besides only 2×4 best tractor for any small medium farm are favorit is 5600
The Ford 6000 was meant to be an awful piece off shit. and the smaller 4000 & 4600 could run rings around the underpowered 5600.. The 4000 , Fordson Major and 7000 , 7600 and 7610 should be here , the 7810 was also a classic legend. Us Ford fanatics in the other side off the pond would disagree strongly with this list.
Yeah. The first the 5600s were pure underpowered. The 4600 could outperform it in everyway. But the final run off 5600s got the 6600 engines or called the PowerPlus models. The jumped from 68 to 78 HP
@@nwhitten7306 If you were powering a slurry agitator or powerharrowing.. etc.. Yeah the 5600 was better. But pull a 14 ft trailer off silage up and down the road... The 4600 is alittle dinger. As is the 4000 -6Y and 4610.. I remember outpacing a 5000 - 6X with a 4600..Same size load. 4600 is a rocket..The early 5600 basicly had the 5000 - 6X engine at 68Hp. Compared to the 4600 at 62 HP.. Not alot between them. The latter PowerPlus 5600 inherited the 6600 engine to bring it up to 78 HP.. The PowerPlus 6600 got the forthcoming 6610 engine to 82 HP..
@@265justy I had a Howard 150 rotaspreader loadedit up behind 4600 of to an outlying field when I started the pto it never turned had to return to yard and wait until 5600 was available in future when the 4600 was used in filled the spreader half full started pto to wrap the chains around the rotor then topped it up after 10 years of the 5600 and a lot of hours we put a new 6610 engine in 5600 it had in line simms pump 5600 had cav rotary what a difference it made pull the throttle back and the tractor was jumping with life !
I use my 3000 weekly. Its a super dexta. Headed up to east Tx next weekend to buy a nose cone & hydraulic valve body for it. Tha k you Dave for all your hard work. These videos are great instructional tools & fun to watch. The original msrp is also fun to compare with what the old guys are currently selling for today.
Grew up in the seats of 9N, NAA, 841, 4200, 5100, 7200, 7700, and a 9600. Call me crazy but I miss it.
FORD IS GOLD 💪👌 SIMPLY THE BEST 👌❤️👍

I really enjoy your top ten countdowns !
Would be nice if you would use cubic inch instead of liters.
Yes this is good ol USA iron here
I second that.
Divide litres by 61 and you'll get the cubic inches.
The 5000 last year was 1975 the 6600 came out in 76
Very Nice List Of Ford Tractors!! Had Ford 6000 Commander With M&W Turbo- Was Great Tractor!!! Still have 8N & Several other Small Fords!! Thank You!!

How isn't the Fordson tractor not even on the list? It was the first Ford tractor and revolutionary for it's time.
Cool Video!!

Great video as usual.
Great video, and good research in putting it together!
