Hey, I wanted to leave a feedback comment seeing as you're a small channel and unless the algo hits again, I'm probably not likely to find you again, but, I assume you want to hone your craft and make a bigger "thing" out of this all (Hey who doesn't, being able to do youtube full time is absolute goals after all) and I wanted to try to give an honest effort at constructive criticism. I watched the entire video, and to be honest, I only watched it for two reasons. One, I wanted to see if I'd missed any of the glorb tracks (I missed a couple earlier ones, so, that was neat to realize I guess) but, the other was because your title, branding, and presentation left me to expect, well... I guess a bit more of an "expert's" take than me as a layperson with little musical knowledge. An interesting lens to view this music from to make it more interesting to me. I say this with no intent for hatred, but to just offer constructive criticism. I didn't feel like you added much to this really. Your comments were pretty surface level, which, I get the impression you are certainly capable of a more informed, nuanced perspective and commentary from what you have presented and what I see looking at your channel. It perhaps might just be a result of having to listen to more than some other videos (I notice they tend to be in the 10-20 minute range recently, so, perhaps those are more refined), but, I think I would urge you to hone your ability to discuss your anecdotal experience and knowledge around the topic of music. Doing so would have made you here a much more engaging and interesting lens to view Glorb's music through. Since I would have loved to see a more notable exploration of the actual "impact" present, or what you think with your knowhow/experience that it has the potential for. Keep at it man, you definitely got the potential, but, I don't get the vibe you're a react slop channel, work on your on the fly commentary from a more informative/intellectual perspective and I think you got a lot of potential.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, I really appreciate the feedback and advice. Being a much longer video than I usually produce, I wasn’t sure how it was going to be received, I think the original edit was about 1 hour and 30-40 minutes. I do think I consciously approached this one to just explore glorbs creative process and progression as an artist, rather than do a full breakdown of each track, which I probably would have done if I had done individual videos on each track. I’d say that in other videos when I do go deeper into the nitty gritty of the production or song writing there have been many instances where I have received a lot of feedback and criticism, being called a “know it all”, “music snob” or “that it’s just music, and it shouldn’t be criticised/analysed” etc…. So it can be a fine line between making something that adds valuable commentary or something that just isn’t relevant to anyone or makes people angry or upset. Interestingly, I think the comment section of this video really shows that impact that glorb has had and continues to have, but to truly understand the impact I think we’ll have to give it a few more years to get the full picture. I guess there’s potential for me to do a follow up where I really explore glorbs impact on a deeper level.
