The Kansbol is a very nice knife with a screaming sharp blade right out of the box, a knife that is hard to beat when hunting, slicing things, food prepping, carving and stuff like that. Everyone wants to scream "knife abuse!" but in the modern world there is simply no use anymore for fixed blades other than hard use like batonning (and also as a weapon that can be smoothly drawn under combat conditions without the possibility of deployment failure). Folding knives today are reliable and ergonomic enough to do almost everything else. A fixed blade should be tough enough to split wood, unless it's intended to just be a historical replica or something.

Original kukri's from Nepal and Parangs in South East Asia are mostly stick tang. Most medieval swords are also stick tang. Gladius also. As most swords were. If you think that full width tang is a must, then you have to learn a thing or two.

Why were you batonning a hunting knife? You wouldn't catch me batonning a vangedal.
Well an experienced user of knifes would chose something else to try to batton through that much wood. It is obvious that the Kansbol is a finer blade, not at all made for splitting wood.
The Kansbol is a very nice knife with a screaming sharp blade right out of the box, a knife that is hard to beat when hunting, slicing things, food prepping, carving and stuff like that.
Choose another tool for slitting logs.
A fixed blade should be tough enough to split wood, unless it's intended to just be a historical replica or something.
prime example of using wrong tool for the job
Absolutely
You can contact mora for a replacement. Kansbol has a lifetime warranty
I Could bet 150$ if the marbles bowie I batoned with was rat tanged it would have snapped that sucker almost twisted 50 degrees from the handle and kept going through the wood with no after damage lol 5 bucks for a beast needed handle work though! That sucks that it broke though! Cheers bro try heating up the Garber sheathe and squish it with gloves on carefully going around the sheathe?
Yikes! I’m surprised I haven’t had more experiences like that with my knives. Not a bad idea on the Garberg sheath! I may play around with that and see what I can do…
I've seen plenty of guy's baton with this knife without issues.
I wouldn't baton with it personally.
But all I can say, you truelly are rough on gear🤣🤣
I definitely picked one of the weakest Moras to try this with, so I can’t be too surprised! Glad I found it’s limitations for myself though 🤙
You abused your edge and it broke. No shocker. "Batoning" is not a real thing- it was supposed to be a joke.
Not true. Batoning is an activity done when in an emergency situation where you have no other options.
People should stop to baton with their knives. Have a hatchet!
Not gonna carry a heavy hatchet when I can baton with my knife.
Waay to heavy! A knife works just fine. Not pure slicers like this knife of course. But any full tang knife and every other mora handles batoning just fine. Also much safer than swinging an axe
@@shamitoson I 100% agree
Get a Glock knife
@@StevanOutdoor hahahaha. Sissy boy! Can't lift a single hatchet!
I would not batoon my kansbol, i have a garberg and several other fulltang brands for that use👍
Smart move. I just had to fuck around and find out for myself 🤷♂️

That is the size you can split wood with the Kansbol.
mora has been around for over 200 years now, and you seem to be the only person on youtube
who actually managed to break one.
looks like a clear case of PEBKAC.
and yes, ANY excuse to say BEPKAC is valid :P
The only problem here is you not understanding the point of the video.
What is PEBKAC?
@@Alien2799 Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair.
Are You serious? Next, try to baton with a butter knife, why not, right?
Where does it say that 2,5mm thick blade is for bushcraft?!
This is the Hard On Gear channel dude… not the “I’m a genius and have it all figured out” channel. I’m fucking around, learning, and experimenting so I can experience this stuff first hand. Now I know and understand more thoroughly (through feel) how aggressive you can be with less sturdy knives doing this kind of stuff.
Cheers, and hopefully you’re able to enjoy the content less cynically from now on 🍻
You are a clown @@HardOnGearChannel
Ooooo...YOU broke it!!!!!
Whoops 🤷♂️😎
That is upsetting with the handle coming off the Bowie .
I’m just happy it didn’t launch itself into my foot!
@@HardOnGearChannel certainly will make me think twice about a handle in future . ..
That could have been bad day
It broke because you were misusing it
Only trust my full Tang blades.
As you should 👍
Cheap $5 kitchen knives often have full tang construction.
Original kukri's from Nepal and Parangs in South East Asia are mostly stick tang.
Most medieval swords are also stick tang. Gladius also. As most swords were.
If you think that full width tang is a must, then you have to learn a thing or two.
lol🤣
Dang sorry man !
All part of the fun!
So the argument is you are purposefully tough on gear. Ok. If that's the case. You would be showing videos of how to NOT do something. As it stands it seems like you break something, then do a video to talk about that? As someone totally new to the channel, it seems like this is more "I learn how not to do things but put that under the cover of I'm doing it on purpose." Also, you disclosed somethings in discussing how you broke the Mora that tells experienced people a ton about you. Let me be clear, RUclips is nothing but trolls and I don't want to come off like one, but if you want to help people with these reviews, show them what's going on, don't tell us later.
