There's something about seeing Sonic crying that makes him seem more... Human to me. Like his normal attitude is a facade to hide the fact that he gets scared and cracks from the pressure just like everyone else. I dunno. It just makes him seem believable to me.
He cries (face hidden) in the credits of Sonic Adventure 2.

i like to think as a headcanon that he bottles up everything, and between all the canon stuff, it gets to the point where he has breakdowns like this and there's like two or three people that know about it
Shadow knows what it’s like to feel like a failure. Having vowed revenge he once almost broke his promise to Maria to protect the world. That promise is everything to him. Reality being shattered must’ve brought that feeling of failure back. If Sonic wasn’t Sonic, he probably would’ve killed him over it. But he is Sonic and the two though not exactly friends have a brotherly rapport and rivalry.
Trauma and Despair is like a hammer and fire. It can break and destroy yes, but it can also forge bonds of iron. Every burn and beat of the hammer serves only to make it stronger. The result if one can endure the forge is an unbreakable ironclad spirit.
Giving us what Sega doesn’t… emotional regret.
This was beautiful and really showed a vulnerable sonic and shadow situation nice.
if anyone knows how it feels to lose everything just couse they where their and blamed for it it's shadow
I actually really hope we get a scene like this, because it is a relatable feeling. To fail people, or to feel like you have failed someone, and you don't know how to fix it? It's hard to deal with, and nobody can stay strong forever.

I honestly REALLY like the idea of Shadow being like Sonic's older brother
So many predictions for the opening of season 3!
This is what I always feel like was missing from certain sonic games moments that made sonic feel human
Now this is the thing I like to see in a shadow and Sonic interaction in sonic games!
