I love how your videos take the music genre to an extreme stereotype. “Shama-lama-ding-Dong”. The bluegrass version Eminem song has literal chicken sounds. It’s genius
It's actually a very poignant metaphor about the response by mainstream society as a whole to heavy metal music and the consequences that it would inevitably have.
So. I used to swing dance on a professional level, and (for reasons I still don't know), doo-wap was thrown in, and my grandparents listened to it NONSTOP on car trips. I still love swing, jazz, doo-wap, disco, allllll the way through rock, pop, retro/synwave and so on. My husband? Absolute metal head through and through. Holy fuck I cant wait to show him this. I'm so glad you exist. ❤❤❤
I know that even today a lot of people are, well, disturbed by the bridge. Allow me, as a long time Disturbed fan, to shed a little light on this deeply discomforting moment. It's all metaphorical. Down with the Sickness is a response to criticism of heavy metal music at the time. Draiman said that he often heard people complain about heavy metal, even going so far as to call the enjoyment of it a sickness, and his response to that was "you people are the most closed-minded, judgemental, self-absorbed people I've ever met, and if that's what "healthy" looks like, then I don't want any part of it. I'm down with the sickness." In the bridge, "mommy" is mainstream society as a whole. The point is to draw a parallel between an abusive parent and a child. Mainstream society tells us that it wants us to be safe and comfortable and happy, but as soon as someone starts enjoying something that it doesn't understand, like metal music, it becomes hostile, trying to force compliance to the status quo through threats and violence and exclusion. Inevitably, the abused after a certain point has enough and fights back, asserting their right to exist on their own terms. This was all a lot more poignant when the song was written. The general attitude toward metal music has matured since then, but even today it remains a powerful message.
If you consider the way Draiman does those little "Ugh" sounds, it's like he's coughing. So while that's consistent with the central theme of Sickness from a wholesome point of view, that "Monkey Screech" just really makes this all uncanny AF.
So my man usually hates remixes of this song, and this is one of the ones he LOVES!!! As do I!! We were both boppin along to the song, and singing along to the song. The confused looks starting at 1:17 showing the viewers, and the live dancers, was just PERFECT!!!! Also I just heard your Star Wars All Star sound on TikTok, and NEED A FULL VERSION!!!!!
Next time you release a video I'll be sure not to be taking a drink while watching it; I came so close to spitting my coffee out more than once. Love the xylophone background btw. Just beautiful work man. Well done. And I love you are fundraising for St. Jude. They are a truly awesome hospital.
Super catchy, TBH I looked for an original copy of the doo wop song not knowing it was created for this. Seriously man, this rendition could be a hit on its own.
The editing in this is so well done! As much as I appreciate the doo wop take on the song, this video absolutely sold it for me. Absolutely love the the use of the Back to the Future clip, it was too funny and perfect ☺️
I can't hear this song without thinking of a Game Grumps episode with this exchange; Dan: Can I get down? Arin: No you can't. Dan: But then how will I find the sickness?
Tapping my foot along with the tune, knowing all the words. As it finishes I laughed outloud and said, "What have you done?!" "There I Ruined It" splash screen appears (perfect timing lol)
1:17, yeah, these were my reactions to the original, too, when he starts having weird mommy issues, ruining the entire song. I was like, "I related with you riiiight up until... whatever THAT was." Would be cool to have the original with the mommy issues removed by A.I., so the song isn't ruined.
well I wouldn't exactly say ruined but it definitely sounded off :p lol , im pretty sure i recognized some of the clips from the hey ya video from outkast, nice :p
Nice one! 😂🤘
Fucking awesome!
Totally agree!
The only reason I clicked was because they have been saying oooh wah ah ah ah ah at my quarters for jokes
Legends themselves!! Awesome
The fact that you guys commented on this vid makes this 10x better. Lmao
1:25 I guess you guys aren't ready for that yet. But your kids are gonna love it.
I thought that scene looked familiar.
Underated Comment xD
I love that movie!
didn't dissapoint
It was so perfect! I was hoping someone would comment on it
Missed the chance to call this “Doo-Wo-o-o-op”
Hahahaha! NICE ONE!
Goddamnit.
That would be Perfect lol

Yes. Yes.
TF2 Pyro moment
What a mood.
Yup.
Yep spot on
You continually raise the twin bars of “what the *fuck* is this” and “this shit slaps” at the same time.
The “Shamalama-ding-dong” before the chorus really kicks it up a notch 🕺
Every upload of yours I'm hit with a wave of excitement immediately followed by fear and revulsion. Thanks.
You put in such elegant and perfect words. I hate this channel so much that I listen to every be uploaded multiple times.
That's my new slogan: "Come for the excitement. Stay for the revulsion."
That is the best way to say it. I couldn't have said it better.
Respect for the Mr. Afternoon Tea profile picture.
If you don't go thru all of those emotions simultaneously, are you even living?😂
The pause at the Child Abuse Solo is just... chef's kiss.

"Your kids are gonna love it"
With every single one of your videos I start with a “But why?”, then goes to “Thanks, I hate it”, then by the end, I end up actually loving it.
I exactly feel the same way, with a fourth step, admitting that this requires a lot of music skills and the video editing is just perfect.
Im still stuck on the "Hate it" part.
It’s a cycle
Just like Spanish sovereigns breathing in the smoke from new world dookie.
"No mommy!"
"I guess you guys aren't ready for that yet, but your kids are gonna love it!"
As a Doowop connoisseur I must say, Really nice sound. Great job.
Thank you! I actually love doo-wop and oldies.
As someone who loves both metal and doo-wop this is PERFECT

Doo Wop and Rockabilly are the best of 1950s rock and roll
Agree!
And 60s!! ❤
I am so glad I found this channel. Jesus Christ this is hilarious!
This song is better than it has any right to be. This is art.
Great video!
Your sick creativity is the gift that has been given to you.
That Back to the Future break down was genius.
The best part is how it all stops during that one REALLY questionable bit that people have always been weirded out by.
It's actually a very poignant metaphor about the response by mainstream society as a whole to heavy metal music and the consequences that it would inevitably have.
I'm so happy that you included the breakdown. And pairing it with BttF was an absolute cherry on top.
This is pure art. Your editing skills are also off the chain. Well done.

As someone with a real soft spot for both doo-wop and this sort of late-golden era nu-metal this is just too good.

You need to have second channel called "There I Fixed It" for songs like this.
Oh thank goodness, I was so sad when this video disappeared because it's my favorite of yours
I am a massive fan of Disturbed, and "Down with the Sickness" is one of my favourite songs. I also love parodies, and this is AWESOME!!

Ruined is not the right word to use here, this is awesome

Doo-Wop music is always catchy. 😁

Hey ya!
This is a crime against humanity... but you did it so well
There it is...0.52. Love that slide whistle, and how you also seem to find the perfect place to put it!
Yet again this channel brings me things I never ever knew I needed in my life.
...wow. You never cease to surprise.
My thoughts went straight to back to the future and you did not disappoint!
Well at least I know the lyrics now...
Okay, this is the BEST yet. Love the people's expressions when he starts "screeching" then jumps right back in with the doo-wop! Priceless!
Disturbed is my favorite band and this is amazing. I would buy this single. Great work!
Amazing combination of the apparent light mood of the 1950-1960s, and Disturbed's sickness that lied under 🤩
Guess you guys aren't ready for that yet… but your kids are gonna love it.
They weren't ready for that, but their kids are going to love it!
Just found you on Reddit, you're killing it!
Do Wop is one of my favorite musical styles. This is awesome. Thank you
As a long-time fan of both disturbed and strange things in general, this was awesome.
Thank you. Your performance of this song reminds me of Dad, who served as an Air Evac Medic in Vietnam. I miss him.
I never knew it was possible to simultaneously love and hate something with equal fervor.
This channel has seriously FAILED to ruin anything! Love this.
This is the greatest channel I’ve seen in a long time, you just made my day 😭
Seeing a clip of Howard Dean on stage, doing his infamous scream would have put it over the top. Excellent work.
This is the best channel on all of RUclips
WHAT???
I MEAN.
HOW??!!
LOVE.
"Shamaladingdong". What a twist. 😂😂
These are getting better and better and better!!!!! And completely ruins the originals. Bravo.
This is awesome! I bet that the members of Disturbed would get a kick out of it too.
They’ve seen it actually !
And they did get a kick out of it
I can't hear this song without thinking of a Game Grumps episode with this exchange;
Dan: Can I get down?
Arin: No you can't.
Dan: But then how will I find the sickness?
Absolutely incredible.
This and your other videos have had me in tears. Tears of joy, revulsion, hilarity. All of them combined.

Disturbed is honestly extremely undisturbed and down to earth! Great guys met them in 2001! This is great!
I love the siren whistle and taxi horn in all of these versions.
From Lounge to Doo-Wop, this song is really timeless.
Wednesday getting down was perfectly placed!
WAY better than the original.
I am laughing so hard right now. This is why I subscribed.
Tapping my foot along with the tune, knowing all the words.
As it finishes I laughed outloud and said, "What have you done?!"
"There I Ruined It" splash screen appears (perfect timing lol)
These get better and better each time.
Where have you been my whole life?
Well. I am disturbed. Well done.
OMG I love this mix! Combining these genres is like my life passing in front of me.
1:17, yeah, these were my reactions to the original, too, when he starts having weird mommy issues, ruining the entire song. I was like, "I related with you riiiight up until... whatever THAT was." Would be cool to have the original with the mommy issues removed by A.I., so the song isn't ruined.
I feel the same way about this song! I think the original radio edit has that entire monologue removed (thankfully). But that was over 20 years ago!
Him saying “demon in me” with the cut to the people dancing will forever be one of my favorite things to see.
This is so good it makes the original sound like a cover
That look on that guys face after the "mommy don't hit me" part is how i've been feeling about that part of the song for years.
Doo Wop is awesome
You didn't ruin it, you made it better XD
Haha. This is ridiculously funny. Y'all do a great job putting these together.

The cool thing is how when you get 4 David Draimans in a room, they actually sound like 5 because of how the notes harmonize.

Infinitely better than the original. An unbelievably low bar.
The third verse literally triggers my childhood trauma but it was worth seeing the looks on the faces in the video 😂
