    I love Molly's progressive music and I am behind her for life. I love Nickel Creek, and Alison Brown, the Kruger Bros, and Bela. I've seen Bela over 30 times live and I am also with him no matter what he puts out. I just keep listening until I understand it. Molly is a great force for bluegrass and acoustic music and we are so lucky she is on the scene.

    A great interview! She has such a natural way of explaining her first experiences of finding the guitar and realizing that was the instrument she loved and how with her Father giving her pointers it all came together. Also, how we all have struggles and through understanding can help each other. The explanation of how to play the clawhammer style on guitar was done very well and really made it something that could be done if you were interested in learning that style.

    People have been tinkering with the "boundaries" and definition of Bluegrass ever since Bill Monroe cantankerously laid down rules for what it can and cannot be. There's plenty of room for those who want to take it well past the traditional paradigm, and there's plenty of room for those who just want to be traditional. And as Molly is illustrating there's absolutely no reason a person can't do both and do both quite well.

    So I’ve heard your new stuff and I heard what you said here about the dynamics of changing. You have to evolve, you just have to do it when your brain tells to, it’s not really even a choice. I remember when each new Beatles album came out people would freak, not always in a good way. It’s hard to imagine maybe but they were so very different and people just wanted them to not change. Now the hard push to innovate is part of the obvious genius of what the Beatles did. Anyway, you need to play for us what’s inside your head. So far it’s pretty amazing for the rest of us out here what comes out of your head. Some day you and everybody else will understand.
    Thanks.

    Wow ... man! She is just so wonderful in so many ways ;) I've watched a bunch of her youtube videos over the years when she was just a young girl, playing with her father and brother, so its not so surprising to see Molly grow into such a great artist ! I've heard a few songs of her new stuff , which are really good, ... I really like Bluegrass and her Bluegrass play'in but I think its great that she's pushing the barrier of the genre , and I think she's such an accomplished player and authentic " real-deal" talent , that well anything she does is going to be interesting and good .... and I like the way she says "yeah ! " ;) ha! .... and the nice guitars she plays ,her appreciation for early Bluegrass , and how grounded she is ;) Love you Molly !

      I have to say, I am a bit disappointed in her "new direction". I heard her live and the songs lacke "grab" to them. LIke some producer told Molly "Go POP-ish". Also, I'm going to say something that's going to concern and maybe upset ALOT of you. Molly has always been a "slight" person but she was mere BONES when I saw her do a record show concert last Saturday, August 23rd, 2019.Was very pale and appeared tired. She could barely manage a smile. I understand her other underlying medical issues dating back to her as a teenager BUT she looked thin even on TV a week before. Much, MUCH worse than here. She was sitting on the bumper of her van after a short record store gig making a phone call. She looked like she felt a non-spry 85..

    • @mbsnyderc
      @mbsnyderc 4 года назад +1

      @@bryankeller3492 She doesn't have medical issues outside of being bald from alopecia .i think the rest is in your head,the album sounds more pop because shes 26 years old and listen to music you and i don't .there is nobody making her do anything it's her choice.if she didn't smile is she most likely didn't feel like smiling.if it was a record store gig she still had a gig to get to latter that day.

      it might be sales patterns. They git these patterns in their head because they're dying to keep the money stream churning in but they don't know anything about music or what's virtuous. You see this in movies, they have a hit movie so they make a sequel and a 3rd and a 4th, they don't have any creativity, just turning the crank to get more sales. I think Eva Cassidy ran into that, her records didn't fit in any "category" so the music stores didn't carry it. They'd have the disks in weird little category bins like R&B or Pop or Folk.

I understand her wanting to promote her CD and the songs on it but I paid to hear some of the old songs too. The fiddle player did most of the lead breaks which was disappointing. Actually the opening act Zoe and Clode was much more enjoyable.
