  • Opening credits and a few clips from this revolutionary kids show that saw TVOntario's first attempt to crack the Saturday morning kids programming block.
Retrontario’s primary mission is the preservation, research and exhibition of rare videotape recordings (1970s to 1990s) recorded off of any and all Ontario (and surrounding area) TV channels; footage which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. We also hope to create an ongoing oral history of this content through comments left below the videos. Please add to this evolving history, if you know more information pertaining to the clips, fondly remember them or have a modern thought all comments are welcome! The show was made in 1974, and its producer was Bill Hartley. The kids were
Scott Fisher (Fabulous Freddie, on "The Hudson Brothers Razzle Dazzle Show"), Catherine Kennedy, Jeanette Klopsch, Anthea Parascus, and Alan Park (future cast member on "Air Farce").
The adult cast members were Patrick Rose, R.G. Brown (who played the villain), Julie Amato (who voiced Pretty, on "Readalong"), and an actor whose name I can't recall, who played the villain's sidekick, Dingbat. A few years later, Julie, Patrick, and R.G. would work together on the variety show, "Julie".

They did a good job choosing this ensemble. I noticed that in some kids shows from the 70s, there's always one that looks awkward or not as talented, but there's good chemistry here

This was quite a find. I knew of this show, but I couldn't remember much about it.

Apparently I was very easily entertained back in 74. The pie scene still made me laugh, so I guess things haven't changed much in 50 years.
