  • Episode four sees England's RWC 2023 training squad really put the warm into warm-weather training as they continue their preparations in a roasting Verona.
Henry Arundell and Joe Cokanasiga take us on their England journey, while Strength & Conditioning coach Tom Tombleson explains what the management team are putting the players through - and why - in the searing Italian heat. And see which players were trusted to take charge of the boats on a trip to Lake Garda!

Another great episode - I like how each episode brings out the personality or back story of each player and shows a new facet of them - we might or might not win the world cup - but this sort of thing gets the fans invested in the team.
15:05 this is the 'man in the glass' that I think Henry was referring to (or at least a poem about the concept of being true to yourself and ultimately able to 'look yourself in the eye')
    The Man In The Glass
    Peter Dale Wimbrow Sr.
When you get what you want in your struggle for self
And the world makes you king for a day
Just go to the mirror and look at yourself
And see what that man has to say.
For it isn’t your father, or mother, or wife
Whose judgment upon you must pass
The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the one staring back from the glass.
He’s the fellow to please - never mind all the rest
For he’s with you, clear to the end
And you’ve passed your most difficult, dangerous test
If the man in the glass is your friend.
You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years
And get pats on the back as you pass
But your final reward will be heartache and tears
If you’ve cheated the man in the glass.

He is a proper Ferrari of a player. Wrap him in cotton wool, because he is absolutely superb when fit. Starting him at 15 would be a real statement of intent but Borthwick is in love with Steward and will play a dull kick-chase-driven game, so he's an absolute shoe in sadly.

Whew, what a massive difference to what the island boys have got to get ready for these world cups. Makes you appreciate just how genetically gifted the likes of the Fijians are that they can even live with these guys on the same field, when the English lads get this level of training facilities, mental well-being leisure breaks and have about five hundred different coaches for every aspect of their training. Interesting too that a thousand times the budget only translates into an extra 5% on the field.
